As someone else has commented, the tower antennas are decommissioned military UHF baseband beacon arrays. The tower & the brick building are ex-military; the portakabins were once home to a computer/laptop repair/resale business, hence the benches covered in chequer pattern rubber sheet & the anti-static wrist band earthing points on the walls.
@@JohnCompton1 The Yanks didn't normally operate the UK UHF monitoring hardware, although not knowing where the boys were & whether there was/is a US base locally, it'd be difficult to say for certain. The left hand drive truck IS a curiosity, though....
Thank you for the tour Alex, Ned and Pompeye! Think of what went on here 50+ years ago! Telephone and radio! The PC recycling is big business, those circuit boards shown in the diagram were worth a lot of dough and still are! The truck looks like an old GM delivery truck. 🤘😎
Very interesting and entertaining explore gentlemen. I think the comment below by @MrBobbalus sounds about right .. I think the computer recycling was added on years later in the portacabins and would have been a private company. Truck is a Ford F700 by the look of it. Looking forward to next weeks adventure..
Absolutely Fabulas You guys outdid yourselves on that one , Thanks to Alex , Eddy , And Ned I can sleep easy tonight , Cheers from Canada , I'm a devoted follower .
I recognise this site. Don’t want to give the site away but it was a uhf transmitter site for RAE Farnborough when it was a military airfield. If you take a left on the main road then right at the roundabout about 1/2 mile down the road on the left is the receiver site - the tower is gone but the derelict building remains amongst the trees.
You guys scared me 😮 when you went up that tower 😮 I was a bit worried about you! Thanks for the explore😊 STAY S A F E. Good man, Eddy! 👍🏻 don’t do it again❤ you’re the man❣️👍🏻
The sticking stuff to Pompeye and zooming in was class. As for CB radio it's still alive. In small numbers though. I bought one last year and I love it. That old American truck is screaming out for one.
Hi Alex 😁 another awesome explore! Well done Ed & Ned for attempting the tower. Alex I am always impressed with your agility and skills with climbing... Most impressive indeed ! Loved Ed's light saver, he has a beautiful nature.. additionally it was great to see Ned out on an explore. Thank you for your efforts in presenting an interesting video. Take care and stay safe. Debbi from Western Australia 👍
Loved this video guys. Even if only now I am finishing watching it. And still blowing a gale out there!! Take care you three super explorers and see you in a weeks time 🤗💙🤗
Found your channel by chance, love the vids and the marking out of 10 for the bathrooms😅 Now a subscriber after binge watching you guys😅 So interesting, keep em coming !!
Oh my! Ed you made my stomach churn! I have no head for heights. You guys were quite crazy! 😅 Thanks for another super explore! Always look forward to your vids.
That rope made me think of the safety line on an oil rig that goes from the top of the rig and fastened to the ground. In case of emergency the derrick hand can slide down the line to safety. I believe there is a harness or a T-bar that they use to do this.
It's really incredible that you climbed that tower, Alec, amazing. To bad you couldn't make it to the top. O well, maybe another day. Imagine the wobble going up two more levels. Great find and tour, Thanks guys. (I think that guy wire or tension rope was probably for additional strength during wendy days)
There usually a small sticker in the doorframe of most American vehicles and yes I saw it. Too small to read because the camera was too far. As you open the door it's usually on the door itself below the catch release system.
i know the place it was basically a scrap yard for old computer tech you could buy an old desktop or laptop but think it was more strip big old out dated servers and computers for the Precious metals as for the tower it was used for military ATC comms - possibly linked to Farnborough when that was an RAF unit.
Alex & Ned- twins? brothers? Shout out to Pompeye for saying subscribe! Maybe already a known thing but I just realized how much you two look alike! Love your explores!
Wat a massive tower must be very old ww2 radio tower being wood I would think it's a old ford truck around the 80s place looks like been abandoned for years you lot crazy going up that old tower 🤪 but wat a good view great job lads 👍

Wonder if it was an American base at any time? The left hand drive Ford box truck made me wonder...

its British army land@@JohnCompton1

That is a nice old Ford F600 Box truck.

We did visit that other site but it was locked up tight and from what we could see it was being used as storage for someone.
Thanks for the comment
As a Canadian viewer i would say its a Ford 5 ton cube van. Well Done with the Tower. I couldn't do it.
Think you'll find the tower radar transmitter or receiver. Must be fairly close to military airfield. One similar on a303 for yeovilton
Awww Neds my hero climbing that and you also Ed well done
Great explore and congrats to Ned and Ed on their epic climb! Think you should have climbed up a third time to keep them company 😂

Alex & Ned- twins? brothers? Shout out to Pompeye for saying subscribe! Maybe already a known thing but I just realized how much you two look alike! Love your explores!
They do look quite similar.
Great video. guys
The truck looks like a late 70's early 80's American Ford F series
The truck, the cargo area, would make a great small off grid cabin...
💚🤙🏼❤
Awesome guys well done pompeye you did great ❤❤❤
Great video like always guys ❤❤❤
Another cool place to explore.👍
climbing the stairs pov felt like I was climbing a ladder on Minecraft 😂 great video lads!

Boa noite meus queridos amigos que incrível adorei esse vídeo parabéns forte abraço a todos ❤
Nice explore guys.
Looks like a repeater station for pre mobile phone days..military use..not c.b. short / medium wave..radio.
Another great video.👍
That trailer needs a little clean up, sectioned off with a bathroom, bedroom, living/kitchen and could be a room to rent out.👍
Have a good day 🍺 Ant
Extraterrestrial The Thing from another World 🌍
Sounds like another good one.
Wat a massive tower must be very old ww2 radio tower being wood I would think it's a old ford truck around the 80s place looks like been abandoned for years you lot crazy going up that old tower 🤪 but wat a good view great job lads 👍
Don’t hold the rungs when climbing a ladder use the sides
Keep going.👍
Nice one Ed! 👍
Very good guys 💯
An old 80s Ford box truck. Must have been shipped in from the States.
It does look sketchy AF but looks very stable.👍
the old truck is a 1990's Ford f600 box truck i believe
American made vehicles have a label on the edge of the door. I do believe I seen the label on the truck
well done edd.
