    TH-cam changed the way they monetize my content. My channel now needs 1,000 Subscribers so it would be AWESOME if you could show your support by both watching my videos and subscribing to my channel if you have not already done so. Monetizing my videos allows me to invest back into the channel with new equipment so a small gesture from you goes a huge way for me. Many thanks for your support !

      I just did my first >250km ride with new Top Sellerie (lowered) seat. Very nice product: looks get 5 stars from me, fitting 3, and comfort 4. Value for money 4. Still I'm going to get a saddlemaker to do me a gel insert on the original seat bottoms, as the Top Sellerie isn't quite low enough (for me). Shudda got an S, but the X looks got me. So we lowered it a bit.

    I have a 2015 DCT model of the Honda NC750. I commute over 110 miles a day on it, mostly motorway. I have a Puig windscreen otherwise the bike is standard. I ride for economy and as such I regularly get an indicated 99.9mpg (the max the display will show). The only improvements I would like to see would be cruise control as there is a bad vibe at cruising speeds through the bars, and also shaft drive to cut down on maintenance.

    • @jimgordon3468

      @@jimgordon3468 99.9 actually, and most likely more as the digital display is not capable of reading into four digits. I achieve this by riding at a steady 50mph. I work shifts, regularly leaving home at 03:00am so doing this speed is not an issue to other road users such as lorries. I achieve this mpg on EVERY tank of fuel when commuting to work is the sole use.

      @@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne I currently own a CB500X and I'm thinking of purchasing the NC for my next bike. Like you I commute around 100 miles each day for work. 5% country lanes, 90% motorway and 5% city riding. On the motorway I ride at a steady 60-65 mph and I'm getting on average 93/95 MPG all year round. Do you think this is achieved or better on the NC ??? Also I fill up every 4th day meaning in 3 days of riding I covering 280 miles with 4ish lts left in the tank.
      1) So how many miles would you get from a full tank with your riding?
      2) what's the mileage on yours, how long do you think the live of a DCT is?
      3) and would you recommend the NC ????

      Hello Mark!
      To answer straight to your questions :

      @@markjenkins905 Not sure what I would get from a tank as I fill up every 2 days (220 miles) my bike is now on 18k and sweet as a nut but I do have it maintained well. I have seen them advertised with stellar mileage on them so clearly they are able to plod on, but that's no surprise as it revs so low compared to almost every other bike.I would 100% recommend the NC750, especially the DCT version.....it's just so easy to ride. On a final note, it is the longest I have ever owned a bike for. Usually they are gone within 18 months...

    Hi guys
    I own two NC bikes. One 2013 NC700S, with 95000km and a NC750S from 2014 with 21000km.
    Reason is I do all my maintenance and I need transportation ( no car)
    I like to throw a few things out there:
    1) I only use full synthetic oil 10w40. And I change the oil every 3000km. Oil comes out dark brown not black. I would never go over the 4000km as an absolute max. The NC700S has as new compression with 95000km.
    Sorry to say I would not buy your bike knowing about how long you have oil change intervals......
    No matter what your dealer recommends. But it's your bike and off course you may do as you please.
    2) I chose the S version because having had a 650 Versys that gave me buffeting wind caused by the windshield. The S version as a naked bike has only a tiny shield to cover the instrument cluster and all I get is clean air from the oncoming air but zero buffeting.
    Maybe you should give it a try towards the smallest possible windshield.
    3) I do agree on the seat and have modified it myself by adding foam to the front since I was sliding forward on the stock seat.
    4) Best tires for pure asphalt rain or dry imo are the Michelin pilot road 4 and 5.
    5) Nicest aftermarket slip on to my ears is the GPR deeptone.
    Over all I can say that the NC bikes in my opinion are the most versatile bikes out there if you take fuel economy, ease of maintenance and practicality into consideration.
    Thumbs up to your effort to present a video which I can't claim for myself.
    Safe rides 👍🏍

      Thank you for taking the time and write from your experience. Since 2016 engine from the bike and also the gearbox it's at his 3rd generation if I am not mistaken, can be that some specifications have changed so far. All I know regarding the oil is that at 8500 Km it was like new, changed first time at 1000 km an then 8500 (so 7000 Km change interval) I will make a video with the oil condition at 18,000 Km after a 10.000 km change interval.
      Drive safe and all the best!

    • @indigo196799
      @indigo196799 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely nothing justifies changing the oil before the recommended interval of 12,000 km. Or once a year. Dark oil does not indicate that it should be changed either, document yourself on the subject. Oil technology has greatly improved, I understand it can be difficult to understand 12,000 km oil changes when 30 or 40 years ago 5000 km was the norm. But... Boys will be Boys, if it makes you feel better and you enjoy changing your oil, i definitely understand! nothing wrong with changing it more often! :)

      Black oil is a sign of higher concentration of contaminants.
      Those contaminants cause more wear and tear in your engine, that is a fact. When exactly that level is reached is of course debatable since other factors like short stop and go use, cold starts etcetera do have a contributing factor.
      Most people in today's society treat motorcycles as a disposable product that they use a few seasons and then dispose of them by selling them to faithful buyers and let them sort out the drama. Not saying that applies to you or the guy in the video, just generally speaking. I have the resources to change the oil rather sooner than later and as I mentioned before would not buy a used bike unless I know the owner personally and are absolutely sure of how the engine was treated.
      Today's motorcycle oil are of course more advanced compared to 1950' stuff, however 12000km is too long. But hey the sooner you'll be buying a new bike, right stimulating the economy, ( which I do by buying more oil and filters LOL) 😬
      Safe rides 👍🏍

    Good review. I bought a Puig windshield (with fittings that allowed me to raise it up). Unfortunately I had to remove it as it just put the buffeting straight onto my helmet. It would be fine for anyone 6ft tall or less though. Things I hate? Just the worlds worst seat, the overly complicated and/or hidden fixings for the body panels (but I suppose Honda want to put us off doing our own maintenance) and the LED lights (as there is nothing wrong with H4 bulbs and I don't think the LED is very good in daylight when you want drivers to see you). Personally I would be happy if it was fitted with shaft drive as I don't want to be doing chain maintenance on long trips.
    As you say, fuel consumption is excellent but I would like the fuel tank size to be increased by filling some of the space above the rear wheel as the suspension travel is not that great. If you are doing large distances filling up 2 or 3 times a day gets old.
    It is a pity that Honda don't make a touring version of this bike as it would be ideal with a full fairing.

    Hi There,
    On the hot starting issue you should try this:
    Before you turn ignition on, hold throttle fully open with engine cut off switch on. Hold in this position and turn ignition on. Wait for fuel pump to finish cycling, then press starter....
    Bike should start fine. I had the same problem on CBF1000F.
    This sequence solved it. I presume too much fuel was getting to the plugs when hot and fouling them?

    I have the same issue with the LED headlight that you described with my Tiger 800. The auxiliary lights help but it’s not a perfect solution. I previously had an older Tiger 800 and the twin halogen lights were fantastic! Best headlights ever on a motorcycle that I’ve experienced. I think manufacturers need to improve their LED headlights overall to get them to the output of 55/60 watt bulbs with good reflectors.

I use as recomanded 95 octane fuel from OMV which seems to be good quality and the start issue it's ONLY on high summer temperatures and VERY rare. If I use 95 octane but from another petrol station than OMV for ex. the issue never ocures. This brings me back what the dealer told me that this engine it's design to run better with worse quality petrol as YOU are using 93 octane 😁
      So to resume: 95 octane or higher plus high temperature = possible missfire and 93 or lower octane with or without low temperature = perfect running engine start 😁

    • @amp2amp800
      @amp2amp800 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@indigo196799 I agree. And I saw the same. DCT is generally popular and a lot of bikers are surprised that they like it. I had to choose the DCT model (because of disabilities). I've been riding a Moto Guzzi I-Convert with a sidecar for the last 10 years (and still do). The 750X is my first 2 wheeler since my accident. I love it! I gotta say it is brilliant that I dont have to shift (coz I can't any more). For readers who havent tried DCT, here's what it means: 1. Low speed control and manoevering without a clutch requires a different technique (lots more emphasis on using on the back brake). Dont think you know everything. Learn it. It's challenging. The Honda throttle is so light and responsive, (exactly the opposite of a Guzzi) so this takes practice. 2. Doing a cone slalom exercise at 30kph with the bike switching between gear 2 and 3 can sometimes leave you off the power when leaning over. That's going to happen in any bend if you come in too hot and close the throttle - so get used to it! Learn how to approach and drive through bends on the gas, like you always should, and you wont get caught out - the box won't switch down if you keep a little bit of throttle on - but again its a new 'feel' to master with the DCT. When you set up for a bend (whether you select the gear or the bike does it for you), you've still got to get the speed right, and the revs right, look through the bend and plant it on the right line, enjoying that riding-on-rails feeling when you nail it. So I don't miss any challenge or fun in the twistys. Shifting up is optimal and effortless and the DCT box (also) shifts short - that's the NC bit and delivers part of your fuel economy. So yes, you might get up there faster in manual, but that's not the point. You really do get to relax more, and that means you can pay more attention to traffic, scenery, and ride pleasure. and grow to appreciate that very quickly. For those who put a lot of store on an adrenaline rush (drive safe!), its not going to be the DCT part, but the NC's engine that's not going to meet with approval. It's not designed with power band smiles as a priority. But it does everything I like and want!

    I also bought the Madstad Windshield for my bike. It's wider and adjustability is better than the stock version. That one sucks. I'm 5'9-5'10 so I needed a better windshield and it's made a world of difference for me. I also picked up the Givi Engine Guards but have yet to put them on. I'm also going to replace the stock pegs with a lower attachment and a flatter foot peg. I like to ride for longer periods and the stock ones can be tiring.

    • @IdealBike
      @IdealBike  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Branko! Thank you for the comment! You are indeed tall so you have to make some modifimodifications: higher windshield plus wind deflector. Lower Footpegs (I would recomand the SW Motech Evo), handlebar risers and perhaps you can higher the seat. Speak with your dealer see if he can help you regarding this. Make sure you ride the bike before and test it's ergonomy according to your own height and weight. Check your the rest of my videos regarding the accessories and top 10 must haves. Hope that helps. 194cm here and I find it very comfortable "nc750stuff" on youtube has suggestions for improvements. I have fitted lower footpegs and handlebar risers (£70 and £20 on fleabay) and altered the seat slope (essential alteration if you want to go any distance). I have left the screen stock as the Puig caused WAY too much turbulence right on my helmet even with fittings to raise the screen by 10cm. This summer I may experiment with fitting a lower screen just to try it out. It is the best bike I have ever had by far. Best wishes.

      if it is anything like previous years they will change the colour of something minor. I get the idea that Honda have lost their way with normal motorcycles. Last year they told the motoring press they where thinking of making a "middle-weight" tourer based on the Africa twin ! When did 1000cc = middleweight ? With few changes they could turn the NC into a good tourer....

    • @IdealBike
      @IdealBike  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't know...the dealer says that it's also same in Afrika Twin, it's design to run with low octane gasoline and if the gasoline it's a quality one can give a missfire sometimes. I noticed that if you leave it for 3 seconds after you put the ignition on you reduce completely the chances for this missfire. This ocures only when outside are higher temperatures...now in winter never had this problem.

    Hi, what country are you from?

  • @thomasjoseph4718
    @thomasjoseph4718 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am thinking of getting a DCT 750. My one concern is the weight of the bike - Not from the point of view of the ride - In my experience most bikes feel OK when you are actually moving, It is the weight when you are actually manoeuvring the bike with the engine off - for example moving it in the garage or in parking places or when transporting it on a ferry etc. My last bike was a BMW R1200R which I only
    sold because it was so hard for me in the above circumstances. This is an important aspect and one that is hardly ever mentioned by the biking press but is an important consideration. I would really appreciate your experiences and advice. Thanks

    • @IdealBike
      @IdealBike  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there ! Thank you for asking this, I can tell you this:
      - indeed the weight (230 Kg) it is a lot for a bike of this size, I also sometimes feel it quite heavy, especialy if your are used with lighter bikes.
      - positive is that the weight distribution its very good: 52% front and 48% rear and also the very low center of gravity and you can easily move the bike using some techniques like lying it to the body (lower part of the body - legs) and most of the weight its better distribuited.
      - If you are going off road then its quite difficult to handle it because of the weight and at low speeds you feel its weight more
      - to move it to the garage daily should not represent a problem ...
      - positive its also that even the bike its heavy its not so big (massive/tall) if you compare it with other bikes from its category.
      Hope that helps! Greetings!
