I like teh Frankinbanker. A lip on the top at the end to stop missing some gold blowing off your classifier. Also USE MINERS MOSS AT THE TOP OF YOUR BOX, even on top of your mat. It just helps. Keep it up mate.
Holy crap man, that's the biggest echidna I have ever seen. Awesome
Chris... if you want to make your bucket loads lighter... build a little 10 gal. barge and float it down the creek. Or, stick each bucket in a little innertube. 😆
Chris, before they dried up the rivers in Arizona to make lakes, like lake pleasant, for the power companies, I had used miners moss with rubber small riffles under it...of course that was a quarter century ago when I could walk, BUTT Now I worked hard & Can walk Again!! Bummer is, we are without water unless it rains, so I use miners moss in small recirculating slices. Rock on bro...oh, by the way, sapphires can be purple, Red & green too, a Refractometer will help you sort your gemstones
You motivated me to take out my little 6 inch highbanker today. Best day I've had so far in 2024. Thanks for the motivation man!
Chris - thank you for bringing us along on your golden adventures!
I just picked up Crux Gold Trek and live it. It will fold up and fit in a 5gallon bucket so I can back pack it in the mountains from Maine to New Hampshire. Very well built and light weight with different grizzly bars to choose from. Also I believe Pioneer Pauly is using one now and again.
Im not your mom, but I am a mom....i love the Frankenbanker!
Keep these great videos coming, but dont stress yourself out doing it.
putting empty crushed milk cartons between each bucket, will make you never have to worry about them getting stuck again
G'day Chris, I used to buy second hand pickle buckets from Maccas back in the day.
They came with lids and smelled like pickles but they were a lot cheaper than from the big green shed.
Just used to ask at the counter if they had any pickle buckets.
Or you can use a snuffer bottle in-between the buckets lol 😆
How to get free Buckets. This has worked for me. Have a friend that paints for a living. Painters buy 5-gallon buckets of paint it is a lot cheaper. To get the dried paid out a metal dish scrubber we call it Chor Boy, it is fast and easy. Dry Wall construction also had 5-gallon buckets. Behind restaurant's has food containers washed out. Get a degreaser and wash it out with a water hose. People that farm and have livestock also have 5-gallon buckets. Farmers that harvest or pick food use 5-gallon buckets. I am from America so, these are the ways I get buckets for Free. I have found that f you just ask most places do not need the buckets they are in the way. They may not be perfect but free is good.
What a fun spot. Great variety of gems and shiny stuff. You've convinced me you can't look past dream matting. That and coarser punched plate and your Frankenbanker would be pure joy! Hope you go back to that spot, Chris. love this video!
Chris, Kyle from Utmost Outdoors just moved to Australia. He also is working on a light weight high banker for fines.
Maybe you both may team up for an effective bit of kit.
I just wrote the same thing.
For the super flat and tiny flakes, I have found expanded metal over miners moss works the best. The Molded rubber mats seem to be best for super tiny specs and corse gold. I would recommend doing a small test at home with your cons and see if it works with the gold you find.
Your a never ending gold finder and teacher. Love watching you
The frankenstine highbanker was good and the fixes are easy. Next time your at bunnings there is a grey miners moss door mat for $8.50 and add some expanded mesh on top. Its seriously the best and chespest gold capture mat you can get and its seriously better than most of those high tech new age mats. I have even ran the grey noodle door mat with no expanded mesh on top and it is just awesome, you just have to clean out more often. The mesh does allow the exchange of material better and helps wash out material. You will get a lot more cons than the high tech mats so be warned your cons bucket can get heavy.
When in doubt set up a sluice at the end of your highbanker and keep or check the cons of that. From memory you own something like a adventure sluice. It doesn't have to be perfect but just something to do a basic check. I often sit a pan at the end and let the water flow in and over the riffles till its full.
I'm sorry to hear bout your grandpa. Grandparents are fountains of knowledge and we are always too young to soak it in. Give Fernie a hug for me.
The Crux highbanker with a 2,000 GPH bilge pump would give you way more production capability. It has two different sizes of grizzly bars (1/4" or 1/2") you can swap in/out to adapt to different areas. Run it with a wider extension containing 1+ variations in capture media (e.g. expanded + astroturf, ribbed carpet or rough top conveyor belt), and you would be unstoppable. Source: I own one, and have used it for 2+ years. P.S. You can run the Crux machine with an 1,100 GPH pump, but you would need to switch out the default matting and use something super low profile e.g. ribbed carpet or conveyor belt)--- with no riffle or expanded metal on top.
Chris
The two five gallon buckets aren't for carrying twice as much. There for making it twice as easy on your back 😊 the point being fill each one halfway full 🎉🎉🎉
😉
Bonanza City there Chris, awesome gold. Careful of the shovel doggers that watch your show. Yeah and please stay safe out there
I invested in a gold trek highbanker, its plastic, folds up and fits in a backpack, really durable, not a fan of the mats though, produces alot of cons but gold losses are very small
I try an have multiple mats. (Expanded metal over miners moss and v-mat at the head and gold hog mat further down) nothing gets away. I never rely on a single "Mat" to capture everything. Cheers!
A very wise and observant man once said, "If you put a hole in the bottom of all your buckets they'll never get stuck together." I could voice no argument. Of course the moral of the story was we suck when it comes to making buckets.
Where did that picker come from? Looked very, very fresh. Hm.
picker came from his nose, had it there for safekeeping 😂
I do understand that the longer videos are one-hell-of-a-lot-more-work, for you
Next time you come across an Echidna, you might want to video it close up concentrating on its hind feet. I’m sure your overseas (and some city Aussies) might find them interesting.
I enjoy your efforts very much, thanks for posting.
Is that what critter was at the 2 minute mark..??
@@ITubetc yes. Fascinating little creatures, with a secret….. 😂😂😂
If you watch the video again and pause it you may see what I’m hinting at.
I’ve had many meetings with these guys during my hunting years (too old now) and they stop everything, I have to watch them, very hard to explain. They harm no one, destroy nothing, they just go about their daily activities regardless of where they are.
Thank you for asking.
Thank god some more content. I was having withdrawles. Thankyou chris for the vids i look foward to watching
Considered a hybrid approach to collecting the dirt?
Shovel into pan, classify, quickly reduce to heavies, dump heavies into bucket, heavies go into high-banker?
That should reduce the issues with mesh size.
Great vid on the creek, have youcthought about a flexible sloar panel. Roll it out it will give you more run time for each battery . . the "Frankenstien" sluice, mate. Mix up your catch zones , 1 x "V matt," expanded mesh with grass or miners moss, then gold hog & dream matt! As Freddy Dodge said, " it's fickle ( gold). I dont like that spot, I like that spot. Not that I am in any way an expert! ( you taught me), but I glean as much info as I can from everyone. I have repeatedly tested my tailings, and I think a 99.9% catch rate is pretty good. Love what ya do, mate. I'm glad you are still punching out great content. It gives me a very high benchmark. ❤it 😊
just use astroturf carpet & 2 sizes of expanded metal riffles, rest of the franenbanker works, hey
That is pretty much the design behind the PopAndSon sluice out of the US. It works exceptionally well on fine / flour gold.
Your ghetto slews is cool really cool😂 lots of nice shiny😂 it is all about trial and error we are not perfect😂❤🎉🎉🎉🎉 thank you for the video I will see you on the next one😂🎉🎉🎉🍻
Put some vogus modifications on that thing and it will be a great piece of gold eatting machinery
LOL, you lose more gold by stopping than by using the wrong mat. You lose all the gold that you don’t mine.
Im not your mom but I am a mom and i think your frankinbanker is fantastic!!
Cheers Chris, been feeling flat and needed to see some fresh gold. Can't get out because of crappy body so this video hit the spot 👍
Hey Chris, why don't you order a different type of Hog mat, like Talon or Motherload, cut it, put it in there, and tested at the house with a known amount of gold and check your course and fine tailings.
Thanks Chris 😊
You probably already know cause they looked like new buckets but if you chuck something small in the bucket so they don’t bottom out on each other you don’t have to fight the force to separate.
Im amused that way down in Australia your golden quartz floaters look exactly like they came out of the Columbia river in the USA.
HOLY HELL CHRIS, that’s an amazing take for 4 hours of work. Good job man 💥👊😎
hey Chris just a suggestion if that hog mat dosnt work that well next time your at bunnings grabbin another 5 buckets, grab 1 or 2 of those flexible plastic tubs to put at the end of the sluice to catch any potential loss
You need a raft for your buckets see if you can float them up or down the river to your sluice. Save on carrying them
NEVER interrupt two buckets when they’re mating!
I heard they can bite
really cool jasper Chris!
Doc at gold hog coined the name distruction chamber for the area you put the pay dirt into. I like to put mats in the bottom of the distruction chamber and run it flat or even at a negitive slope so the gravel getts completely washed as i work it back and forth with a short handled garden hoe over the punch plate
Using a bucket classifier would eliminate having to carry a bunch of big rocks in your buckets
Time to get a yoke(a stick across the shoulders) to carry the two buckets
these are the best vids from you !
Too many ants. Need more echidnas!
I think Buckets has stopped listening and theyre not going to give you any bunnings .....very unsavoury of them
The Banken franker looks awesome its a totally legit way of making stuff work, I have cobbled together different parts of tools to make them works
There is a weird tecnique for getting stuck buckets and trugs apart..hold them up by the top one then wiggle them side to side really fast till the bottom one falls off....its alchemy but it really works and its less finger abusing than just pulling (also works when the top one has stuff in it)
Dude what a day .....that last mat looks like little gnome noses
Some miners moss will help at the top👍
If you're blowing the flakes through, what if you tried lowering flow rate or angle and re running all the fine tailings back through ?
Bonus, Gold & Gems sweeeet.
Cassiterite is only density 7 vs gold 19 so as long as you classify to within a 2x volumetric ratio it will be cleanly separable.
That means a mesh hole ratio of 1.25 max. That's a very tight classification! I think you can only go 5 pr standard us sieve size. In tyler that means 16, 20, 24, 28, 32 Mesh would ALL have to be used to keep classification tight enough. That's a LOT of sifting!
I classify material before carrying it to the sluice, so I'm not lugging a bunch of worthless rocks down the river
Im in shepparton vic, have never tried to search for gold but have been watching your videos for a while now. Can i come join you?😂
Vortex mat and miners moss for the fine stuff you RICHARD CRANIUM, you know this. Oh, well done ! GOT ME TO COMMENT.
congrats... My tips for the big buckets is... if you take a saw, a pretty short piece of thick Treestick and saw a groove into the Branch it does not hurt your Artworkershands while carrying this huge Buckets if you use these branches as insulation for the bucket handles... Supermarkets should have this...anyway plasticbags are forbidden here in grey Germany
plastic bags are banned down ere to, they have made decomposing bags now n they cost minimum of 10c each some bags are upto $4
great job there
Good show mate :) Cheers
I know it might sound dumb and it's something extra to bring but you should build a yoke for your buckets it's like one of those things people used to bring water buckets back from a well and it just hangs the buckets off your shoulders about 30cm down to about hip level it will save your arms in the long run and ease up stress on your back muscles as well because your shoulders aren't being pulled down their supporting that weight above your centre of gravity
Well, you pointed out yourself the big problem, the mat in the multi-sluice is meant to lose gold, at least it is meant to clean gold so which is sort of the same thing. Personally I like drop riffles for prospecting and miner's moss/expanded for working but different Gold Hog mats will do the job.
Good gold for the work done for sure mini franken does need more work maybe make some of your own mats to have deeper holes for the black sand to stay in and the au😊
Wow…cool. I love that you look at the rocks. It’s nice that gems are heavy, too. Thank you.
Hey Love the content and the Beavis & BH motif. Really waiting for the GOLDHOLIO episode ;)
Love the ghetto box. What ever works😅. MAW bass in Tucson AZ. Love the Chanel.
The gold hog piglet might be up your alley for a mid sized sluice. It runs best on a gas pump, but I run one well off a 4,700gph bilge pump.
Another great video chris, greetings from South Wales uk……..
I think you can easily improve the Frankenbanker to be as good as or better than any mid-size you might find out here and for a whole helluvalotless $AU too. And hey, ain't drilling holes to make a spray bar the mostest fun ever?! No matter how hard ya try the water shoots out about 60 degrees different. And wait 'til the holes start clogging with floatsam! Big fun!🤣 Slot(s,) if you have the pressure.
I am surprise you havnt got a Four Wheel Quad to carry your stuff!
I am happy to make a small contribution from Auckland, cause we dont have any gold here on this Island,
if this is a 2024 theme?
Pro tip. For buckets hit the dumpster outside any Chinese resturant. Your welcome.
Always succses friend 🇮🇩⚒️⛏️💎🙏👍👍
I was surprised that you found a picker at the creek, along with all those gemstones and gold. However, even though the highbanker set up is where the problem was located. But if you don't try, how would you ever know to change something for the better? You can't rely on your thoughts or theories to be correct all the time. Many, including me, learned this lesson the hard way.
Thanks for sharing my friend and I hope you stay on the awesome gold and gemstones! Blessings from Alabama ❤️
Hi Chris, have you ever thought about using a Styrofoam float to place your buckets on to help float your heavy buckets of material to your highbanker walking through the creek. Me being 72 years old and not as strong as I use to be, it works great and saves the back. The water does need to be deep enough to do this. Thank for all of your great videos you have done through the years. Working the streams of Washington State , in the USA. I Love your highbacker build. I have build all of my gold recovery equipment. Bob Mackey
Great job improvising, just need some duct tape on it and you'll be an honorary Saskatchewanite🤣
That piece of jasper was really pretty, and I loved that sapphire you pulled out too. I liked the idea of your frankensluice lol, switching out the mat and changing the size of that punch plate and I betcha it’ll be perfect for what you want it for. Great video Chris ❤
just wondering, would it help if we(your fanbase) would send individual emails to bunnings for sponsorship? :D just give us the ok sign and we're off :D
Did you check your top mat if it has one. Because 80-90% of the gold will drop out in it.
You want FREE buckets? Go to an area being built up with houses, ask around, Plasterers throw out 20 litre buckets by the dozen.
Another great video. Do you have other types of gold hog mats? Maybe using a different model of mat like razorback, mother load or scrubber mats or a mixture.
Chris i was wondering if u have ever mined for Opal? I know there is no Opal in Victoria but there is in NSW, if u havent are u thinking about trying it? I think that would make a very cool video series.
Check out Alan Robertson from Montana. He has made his own style of units. He might give you some ideas you could make work for your area.
I watched this video 3 times to try to help you figure out your loss. How about adding a jarvey riffle plate at the top and miners moss and riffles more toward the bottom of the sluice!! Just an idea. The jarvey will catch the v mat will catch what the javey doesn't and the miners mat and regular riffles should catch the rest
Heck yeah! 4 hours all ya need is a bit of expanded over moss, and a new punch plate! You will be in it good!
in America most restaurants get their pickles in 5 gallon buckets. most of them throw them away or give them away. giving saves trash costs.
If you were a little richer you could go to a gym a couple of times a week (paying for it of course) to keep in shape. But being the poor gold prospector that you are, you get to stay in shape and make money finding gold at the same. You are so blessed - lol. Love your video's and look forward to each one.
That picker by the look of it might be pretty close to source. Nice background music and thanks for the upload mate.
USA here I would get a work sled or ice fishing sled I have one and it can float about 150 lb you would not have to carry them buckets plus if you wanting to get your gear up or down the creek it would be so easy
Mr Chris you should be classified in your bucket so that everything in the bucket is quarter inch minus this way you would not be losing gold out the back of the box
I wonder if you can keep the batteries charged with a solar cell, there’s electrical devices that run on solar cells when there’s no electricity, and I Australia has plenty of sun light, I just thinking about the possibility that it can be done .
Great video Chris and you sure did have a fun day mate, I got that patreon thing fixed lol. Stay safe bro....
Great content, well explained and high quality production value.
i notice you have a little arrow pointing to something in your thumbnail. It also helps if you hold an unplugged microphone while you talk.
Where can i get a metal batea pan? I know you had a video on it but i cant find it no more. And like your setup. Made a setup similar to that on my gold hog piglet last year same results losing about half the gold. Cant wait to see what you figure out. I was thinking of going with small trommel possible hand cranked save on batteries.
Do you have a sheet metal company near you? Just ask them to make you the size you want! It's just bent and folded sheet metal that's riveted together.
U need to try that vdr (vortex drop riffle) mat that flour gold wizard uses. He swears by it and it’s the same size gold he’s after as u are. I’d like to see how it works for u before I order some! 😂
Chris look up the flower gold wizard He does beach gold which is just like your stuff and he uses high bankers all the time
Chris try asking at your local restaurants for buckets they usually have too meny also the Heavy Duty Repair shops have tons they would love if you took them off their hands
I like the franken banker. Like you say if you change out the mat and the hopper screen then I think you will have a winner! Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Nice spot. Can see why you're keeping it a secret. Would your custom out tray dry pan work really well there?
Gotta use your thumbs to press those stuck buckets apart, works easy every time, love the channel 🤙
Im guessing you checked all the tailings to see if you really were losing gold out if the high banker.
