I like teh Frankinbanker. A lip on the top at the end to stop missing some gold blowing off your classifier. Also USE MINERS MOSS AT THE TOP OF YOUR BOX, even on top of your mat. It just helps. Keep it up mate.

Chris... if you want to make your bucket loads lighter... build a little 10 gal. barge and float it down the creek. Or, stick each bucket in a little innertube. 😆

Chris, before they dried up the rivers in Arizona to make lakes, like lake pleasant, for the power companies, I had used miners moss with rubber small riffles under it...of course that was a quarter century ago when I could walk, BUTT Now I worked hard & Can walk Again!! Bummer is, we are without water unless it rains, so I use miners moss in small recirculating slices. Rock on bro...oh, by the way, sapphires can be purple, Red & green too, a Refractometer will help you sort your gemstones

I just picked up Crux Gold Trek and live it. It will fold up and fit in a 5gallon bucket so I can back pack it in the mountains from Maine to New Hampshire. Very well built and light weight with different grizzly bars to choose from. Also I believe Pioneer Pauly is using one now and again.

G'day Chris, I used to buy second hand pickle buckets from Maccas back in the day.
They came with lids and smelled like pickles but they were a lot cheaper than from the big green shed.
Just used to ask at the counter if they had any pickle buckets.

How to get free Buckets. This has worked for me. Have a friend that paints for a living. Painters buy 5-gallon buckets of paint it is a lot cheaper. To get the dried paid out a metal dish scrubber we call it Chor Boy, it is fast and easy. Dry Wall construction also had 5-gallon buckets. Behind restaurant's has food containers washed out. Get a degreaser and wash it out with a water hose. People that farm and have livestock also have 5-gallon buckets. Farmers that harvest or pick food use 5-gallon buckets. I am from America so, these are the ways I get buckets for Free. I have found that f you just ask most places do not need the buckets they are in the way. They may not be perfect but free is good.

For the super flat and tiny flakes, I have found expanded metal over miners moss works the best. The Molded rubber mats seem to be best for super tiny specs and corse gold. I would recommend doing a small test at home with your cons and see if it works with the gold you find.

The frankenstine highbanker was good and the fixes are easy. Next time your at bunnings there is a grey miners moss door mat for $8.50 and add some expanded mesh on top. Its seriously the best and chespest gold capture mat you can get and its seriously better than most of those high tech new age mats. I have even ran the grey noodle door mat with no expanded mesh on top and it is just awesome, you just have to clean out more often. The mesh does allow the exchange of material better and helps wash out material. You will get a lot more cons than the high tech mats so be warned your cons bucket can get heavy.
When in doubt set up a sluice at the end of your highbanker and keep or check the cons of that. From memory you own something like a adventure sluice. It doesn't have to be perfect but just something to do a basic check. I often sit a pan at the end and let the water flow in and over the riffles till its full.

The Crux highbanker with a 2,000 GPH bilge pump would give you way more production capability. It has two different sizes of grizzly bars (1/4" or 1/2") you can swap in/out to adapt to different areas. Run it with a wider extension containing 1+ variations in capture media (e.g. expanded + astroturf, ribbed carpet or rough top conveyor belt), and you would be unstoppable. Source: I own one, and have used it for 2+ years. P.S. You can run the Crux machine with an 1,100 GPH pump, but you would need to switch out the default matting and use something super low profile e.g. ribbed carpet or conveyor belt)--- with no riffle or expanded metal on top.

Considered a hybrid approach to collecting the dirt?
Shovel into pan, classify, quickly reduce to heavies, dump heavies into bucket, heavies go into high-banker?
That should reduce the issues with mesh size.

Great vid on the creek, have youcthought about a flexible sloar panel. Roll it out it will give you more run time for each battery . . the "Frankenstien" sluice, mate. Mix up your catch zones , 1 x "V matt," expanded mesh with grass or miners moss, then gold hog & dream matt! As Freddy Dodge said, " it's fickle ( gold). I dont like that spot, I like that spot. Not that I am in any way an expert! ( you taught me), but I glean as much info as I can from everyone. I have repeatedly tested my tailings, and I think a 99.9% catch rate is pretty good. Love what ya do, mate. I'm glad you are still punching out great content. It gives me a very high benchmark. ❤it 😊

I think Buckets has stopped listening and theyre not going to give you any bunnings .....very unsavoury of them
The Banken franker looks awesome its a totally legit way of making stuff work, I have cobbled together different parts of tools to make them works
There is a weird tecnique for getting stuck buckets and trugs apart..hold them up by the top one then wiggle them side to side really fast till the bottom one falls off....its alchemy but it really works and its less finger abusing than just pulling (also works when the top one has stuff in it)
Dude what a day .....that last mat looks like little gnome noses

Cassiterite is only density 7 vs gold 19 so as long as you classify to within a 2x volumetric ratio it will be cleanly separable.
That means a mesh hole ratio of 1.25 max. That's a very tight classification! I think you can only go 5 pr standard us sieve size. In tyler that means 16, 20, 24, 28, 32 Mesh would ALL have to be used to keep classification tight enough. That's a LOT of sifting!

I know it might sound dumb and it's something extra to bring but you should build a yoke for your buckets it's like one of those things people used to bring water buckets back from a well and it just hangs the buckets off your shoulders about 30cm down to about hip level it will save your arms in the long run and ease up stress on your back muscles as well because your shoulders aren't being pulled down their supporting that weight above your centre of gravity

  • @randydixon9512

Well, you pointed out yourself the big problem, the mat in the multi-sluice is meant to lose gold, at least it is meant to clean gold so which is sort of the same thing. Personally I like drop riffles for prospecting and miner's moss/expanded for working but different Gold Hog mats will do the job.

But if you don't try, how would you ever know to change something for the better? You can't rely on your thoughts or theories to be correct all the time. Many, including me, learned this lesson the hard way.

Mr Chris you should be classified in your bucket so that everything in the bucket is quarter inch minus this way you would not be losing gold out the back of the box

I wonder if you can keep the batteries charged with a solar cell, there’s electrical devices that run on solar cells when there’s no electricity, and I Australia has plenty of sun light, I just thinking about the possibility that it can be done .

i notice you have a little arrow pointing to something in your thumbnail. It also helps if you hold an unplugged microphone while you talk.

Where can i get a metal batea pan? I know you had a video on it but i cant find it no more. And like your setup. Made a setup similar to that on my gold hog piglet last year same results losing about half the gold. Cant wait to see what you figure out. I was thinking of going with small trommel possible hand cranked save on batteries.

Do you have a sheet metal company near you? Just ask them to make you the size you want! It's just bent and folded sheet metal that's riveted together.

U need to try that vdr (vortex drop riffle) mat that flour gold wizard uses. He swears by it and it’s the same size gold he’s after as u are. I’d like to see how it works for u before I order some! 😂

I like the franken banker. Like you say if you change out the mat and the hopper screen then I think you will have a winner! Can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Nice spot. Can see why you're keeping it a secret. Would your custom out tray dry pan work really well there?
