A really excellent design!
Very cool. I'd put a few layer boxes along the back of the base, which would also help them to get up into the roost, but that's just me.
I wish I had the building materials to make one myself! Such a lovely coop!
Thank you!
I love that design. Great job.. Lol I'm the same with hinges. :P Nice to meet you :)
Thank you!! 💚
Cool! 😎 🐔 🏠
I see your written instructions on your website, where did you screw the sled base onto the walls when you set it on top?
I put screws in straight down through the end of the wall into the base below.
looks nice good idea inside love it the only thing would be better with a wheels easier to move
That’s definitely an option.
I like this design a lot, how many nesting boxes can you fit along the large door side?
Thank you! You could put 3 or 4 along there. I currently have two, but the hens only use one.
@@CosmopolitanCornbread What kind of nesting boxes would you use in this setup? (I got recruited to build a coop for my mother-in-law and don't know anything about chickens!)
Have you had any injuries with the chickens getting caught on the hardware cloth? Either bumblefoot or from racoon claws reaching through?
No, we have had not had any issues. The perches aren’t terribly high off the floor of the coop, so the chickens don’t have far to go when getting down.
I was wondering how do you get the eggs ... where do they lay them in the coop thx
Sami_Callea 12 there are nesting boxes in the end with the big door. Easy access to the eggs.
Do you put hay or some type of bedding down on the hardware cloth and what tool do I need to cut hardware cloth when making it?
No, it needs no bedding. If you put bedding down, the droppings wouldn't be able to fall through. The hardware cloth can be cut with a wire cutter or a bolt cutter.
Was wondering if it were possible to adapt this coop using a-frame metal swing set?
Karen Gre I suppose it is possible, but you would have to find a way to attach the roosts, roofing and ends to the metal poles. For the cost of the few 2x4s to make the frame, I don’t think you would be really saving any $
How do you clean inside an a frame?
It is primarily self-cleaning. The droppings fall through and as it is moved every couple weeks to fresh ground, it stays clean. Once in a while I may need to take the back of a garden rack and just run it across the hardware cloth if something sticks, but it is a very rare occurance.
Roughly how much does your chicken sled weigh?
I couldn’t wager a guess
A Good Life Farm by Cosmopolitan Cornbread hey guys where I can find the measurements for the coop
very nice job. Great to see a woman so handy. Could do with a woman like you.. Come over to Australia and settle with me. Already have a chicken house but maybe you could build us a good big bad to have fun in
LOL! Thanks for the offer, but I'm sure my husband would take issue with that ;)
