Many people use these to maintain fermentation temps in beer/wine making. I have one to control heating and cooling in my plant starter. It is converted from a mini fridge. Lighting is controlled with a timer. Heat is a 40 watt incandescent bulb. Cooling and ventilation is two 4 inch fans blowing out of the box at the top. There are plenty of holes to allow fresh air in.

I have the same for my kegerator. The thermostat board got fried and it was super expensive to fix. I just connected this device to the compressor and it works like a charm 😁

I use a lot of these all over. They are good and I have not had problems with any of them with years of use. I guess their simplicity is their reliability.

I have similar devices that I picked up years ago. One I was going to use to control the temperature of a homemade plastic injection machine.
The other I was going to use to convert a freezer into a refrigerator with a spigot for dispensing my home brew beers.

Nice to see a visual demo of actual usage, the missing part from Big Clive's videos :)

nice shoutout to big clive i watched his video also. i can think of many useful ideas for this item but like you said would i trust a $100k compressor with it probably not but for temp control in a paint booth definitely

Million dollar question: So why is the temperature on the desk unit assumed to be accurate and the 4 dollar STC assumed to be inaccurate? :)
All jokes aside, I have the 24v model and it runs 24/7 in the garage through winter and summer for the last 8 years and still chuggin' along. These units have been around for a long time and are quite reliable . I've totally forgotten how to adjust the settings and this was a good refresher tutorial. Thanks learnelectronics !!

The desk unit more closely matches the 6 other thermometers in the house.

Paul get a metal cooler like the Coleman ones put your filament in it and use that to keep track of the temp.....:)

I have use one of these to control a fan to cool my server room UPS. With global warming, its becoming increasingly difficult to keep equipment from exceeding its maximum ambient temperature spec.
There appears to be a number of versions of this thermostat which use common hardaware, all made in china. I purchased my unit from that south american jungle company. I found a bug in the software, that failed to change the sign of the hysteresis when using the unit for controlling a cooling fan. This resulted in the true set point relay switching temperature being the being the set point temperature plus the hysteresis offset.
The ups really should have been fitted with a cooling fan, as it runs very hot in the summer which greatly reduces the life of its sealed lead acid battery. I tnink my next server room UPS will use LiFeP batteries, which might be a bit safer than LiIon. At least my old Lead acid battery is unlikely to burst into flames.

    Awesome! TY. +1. Sold!
So... yeah... thermostat (fluid expansion style) in my mini fridge was flaky enough to start making my food go bad faster than I'd like. Thought about replacing it with a fresh 1:1 identical unit... but why when these are just as cheap?
Now... I might have ordered via your Amazon affiliate link, but those fokerz have made it so minimum orders for free shipping is more than $35... so I went to the competition. Ended up spending more than $35 total anyway... so... I guess that's Amazon's loss. (I've actually been doing this a lot more lately ever since Amazon did this to free shipping.)
If you are doing the affiliate thing, maybe reach out to the vendor and ask for an equivalent ebay link? It won't help you out with my purchase today, but maybe if I like what I receive enough, I'll come back here and buy a second unit through your link?

Don't worry about Amazon, they like to change the rules every month so. Just buy where you cab find the best price for you!

I guess it could be used to keep a room at a constant temperature regardless of outside temperature 🤔
    Perhaps a basement 🤔
