It’s always 100x better when the person knows/understands what’s in their closet for these videos
so true it changes the whole vibe!!
The way I turned to my husband, who was not even watching, to say "I've NEVER seen Luke this excited before"
"who's luke?" lol
@@olympae5327 his cheeks getting purple
Surely its because of Better help
I want to have less "can't afford this" problems and more "somebody else wore my dress" problems.
Same. I'd love to have the money to get whatever I desire
Growing up in a few African countries, custom-made outfits were much cheaper than prêt-à-porter clothing. To this day, my siblings and I regularly send our measurements back home to get some outfits sent back in a few months.
Thanks for sharing that. I'd rather have custom made clothing over almost any high end label. (...not that I would know, lol) The most I ever spent on a piece was a long wool, winter coat. Trench style. That was almost 40 years ago and I _Still_ wear it. (paid $800 back then) I don't think the designer is around anymore.- Irving Samuel
I think that is true in other countries as well. The Philippines and Vietnam.
I have been leaving comments on some videos telling people to get their clothes made or customized. No sense in wearing a designer if it doesn't fit. Lmao. I would rather have hand crafted, impeccably fit, flattering, unique, ornate, stunningly impactful pieces any day than a flipping designer label for waaaaay too much.
Also would love a closet tour from an African. Bet it's amazing.
It was that way here until the 90s. My mother is a master sewist and made all my clothes for most of my life
But what happens when your white fluctuates?? @@BonnieLeeBee
I know nothing about fashion. I don't have the eye, body, or money for it, and sometimes I even resent it for what it represents (something perpetually out of reach). This is the first closet tour that made me understand a little of what fashion can FEEL like for those lucky enough to participate. Very neat.
Well said! Have a great day!
I really would love for you to maybe try exploring it a little, there are so many cool second hand pieces of all styles if you have access to thrift stores and the confidence you get from wearing something cool that expresses who you are is unmatched, doesn’t have to be anything fancy but like maybe worth a try
fashion is for everyone!
"Stuck at customs" is now incredibly common since brexit. It is easier for usa people to now get items from the eu than the uk.
that actually makes a lot of sense in the context of her being in the UK!!
Because she doesn't go by bus, my luggage was never searched 💁🏻♀
It’s because of the value of the items - items over a certain value need to be declared to customs in advance and if you don’t it can get help up.
I’ve never watched Bling Empire before so this is my first time seeing Christine Chiu, and I’m obsessed with how nonchalant she is telling these glamorous stories from her life. She seems so down to earth and has incredible taste. We love to see it!
she was bullied relentlessly the whole first season. don’t watch if you like her
I watched Bling Empire when I was held up alone during knee surgery recover and covid. It made me feel like I had friends lmao.
@@nash879lmao if we watched the same show she wasn’t “bullied”. she is a very messy and problematic person who dealt with the consequences of her own actions lmao.
@@rengokusfox lol yea Christine was the bully…basically the Regina George of the group.
On the other hand, I will say that within her husband’s family, she seemed to be on bottom of the totem pole. That probably influenced how she was with her “friends”.
She isn’t down to Earth on Bling Empire, but Bling Empire isn’t supposed to be down to Earth. She does make Bling Empire worth watching. She was one of my favorite people on Bling Empire, because she is smart and brought the drama. She was also super brave and shared her IVF journey.
And Baby G is adorable!
I must wear haute couture all the time because my mom makes my clothes all the time. Those pieces are my most favorite.
I can’t claim to have seen ALL of your videos, but! SO much fun to see you damn-near giddy with pleasure in this one. Happy Luke! 😊
I saw a few people comment already, but getting custom-made outfits is still a norm in Southern India. Often when going to the shops they will show you fabric pieces for a certain type of outfit ( saree, chuthithar, skirt + blouse, etc) and then you take it to the seamstresses (they're everywhere) to be cut and stitched to your specific measurements. Admittedly, the skill and reliability of the seamstresses depend on how long they've been in the business. Still, shop recommendations come from our many family members and other close-knit members from the surrounding community so the shops always strive to do well.
Not me, who has never even attempted pregnancy, holding back tears (and failing) when she describes her journey with IVF.
Right?! 🥺🥺💛
It is lovely to know that other people express care and compassion for other people. You have a kind heart, continue shed your tears of sadness, joy, and empathy... It is a beautiful thing to do in this world and for this world 💗
As a 24yo that has been studying to become a couture designer, no one gets it. They all think im crazy for studying garment construction & techniques so intensely in the middle of the Midwest 😅
I totally get it. ❤ Go for it.
you're not crazy, this is such a delicate and complex field, especially if you want to excel. and then don't mention how other cultures over the times created worn pieces of art - you're doing great!
Go for it!! Best wishes from across the globe!
This was delicious. A true education in couture from someone who doesn’t come from a bragging place, but rather a true collector’s mindset, sharing her treasures with grace and personal sentiments.
Betterhelp is not good at all be careful guys don't use it. Bad sponsorship idea
Unfortunately, I agree and I'm a psychologist. I've heard so many stories from people about how unethical they are. :(
@@EmEm872 they had verbiage that said they they dont check the credentials of the therapist they hire
@@nomanejane5766 oh wow
I had two therapists break up with me randomly on there. I paid just to get ghosted over and over. Even though it helped at first. It's not consistent
I found my therapist through betterhelp and she has been fantastic. She has since left the platform and gone to a private practice. I hear about people having bad experiences but I had an overall very positive experience. Ive liked Talkspace as well but their matching algorithm is not great. You may have to search for a new match a couple times. They do take insurance which betterhelp wasnt great about.
This is a great closet tour because she’s so knowledgeable and appreciative of the craft and the people in the industry hand making these garments. She’s not just showing her over the top collections - look how many bags I have type of thing.
14:43 omg there’s another haute couture client who came out saying she bought a giambattista valli piece but Anya Taylor Joy wore the exact piece to the Mad Max premiere. What is going onnnnnn Giambattista?? 😮
Edit: OMG I’m sorry you brought it up I was just talking with my manager abt the Anya/Miss LuLu drama so I was SHOCKED hearing abt another look
The closest I'll ever get to Haute Couture was a tailored linen pinstripe suit. I loved that suit. It fit perfectly.
I had my prom* dress sewn - it was great, corset was fitting perfectly. That was only time I used tailor to produce something I design - I was proud that it came out quite nice (skirt wasn't perfect, but still good)
*not really prom, as we don't have them in Poland, it is party 100 days before our high school exams
I love that your shade is so polite and on point. You never overreact or are mean just for the sake of it. Also I love how you also provide interesting info on fashion trends and creators. 👏🏼👏🏼
How fun to imagine what it must be like to own Haute Couture rather than worry about grocery money ❤😂😮
We need more closet tour videos they’re my fav!
Many wealthy people now ship their suitcases and trunks rather than having to deal with traveling with their own luggage...maybe that's why it was stuck in customs? Also lending anything to a Museum or for an traveling exhibition tends to add more monetary and/or cache to an item...whether it is a gorgeous gown, painting or vase.
And if it was coming from Paris, then Brexit customs might have been a big thing as well.
I inherited an beautiful, black, silk, Oleg Cassini Haute Couture. It is GORGEOUS.
LOVE AN OLEG
This is totally something I would do if I was filthy rich. Nothing wrong with supporting craftmanship over overconsuming and shopping for brief trends. She comes across so classy and refined too.
I just love her, and your appreciation of her. She has nailed it with the knowledge drop from someone who really knows what she's buying. Beautiful.
The closet tours are why I started following you and I get so excited whenever I see you upload them!
I live in border town in Thailand. There’s lots of seamstresses to make the traditional Myanmar dress that a lot of women wear and is very fitted. You can go to them and have them make dresses for you and since they are use to making really fitted clothing they even measure your neck and arms.
I would have enjoyed the original video more if they included pics of Christine wearing the clothes.
Ok. Seeing all these plastic hangers kinda has me screaming like mommy dearest!
It's a hôtel room for the shoot and the clothes are probably stocked flat otherwise. But same 😂
No more wire hangers..
If I were traveling with expensive clothes, I would bring Better Hangars.
I think this is some bull shxx.
FINALLY! Ive Been Waiting To See Her Closet
Don’t use better help. but get the bag, I guess ?
I find it interesting that she has a Dolce & Gabbana piece, given her challenging IVF journey and the insensitive anti-IVF comments D&G have made years back. Maybe a case of separating the art from the artist, but still, if I were her that would prompt me to spend that money elsewhere…
I really enjoyed this tour. Her clothes where beautiful and I loved the stories to go with it.
that was such fun! i think the best closet tour ive ever seen! Love the tee Lukelia!
I love this video , Luke thank you . I think we had so much fun
Hysterical! Love the editorial side bar comments so much🎉❤
That Chanel piece somehow manages to simultaneously look like a late Victorian/early Edwardian Ladies' Maid uniform AND also a standard men's tuxedo. Two costumes for the price of one!
Definitely one of the best videos hands down about someone talking about their own pieces they love 💗 adored hearing her stories about every piece 😊
Hi Luke, it’s always lovely when you’re so excited about making a video. This was an excellent one. I did not know that they would produce only one couture piece for a client. That must be different than the archives that they keep, right.? anyway, this was a blast, carry-on!
thank you for being my favorite TH-camr
Great video. Both Christine's sharing and your comments. Never learned so much about couture.
i love love lovvvveeeeee christine chiu so much ever since bling empire!!! Her love for fashion is not just cuz of the brand name but cuz of the craftsmanship and family like relationships she has with the brands!!! ❤❤❤ plus she was one of the truly “bling empire” people on that show 😂
This was so interesting. I like her laid back attitude and her real appreciation for the garment.
I’ve been waiting for you to do this review for at least a year!!!
This was such a fun one to watch!
Looove her. So fabulous and generous to share all of that.
16:07 Yeah the fact that it’s happened twice where clients have bought couture outfits from Giambattista Valli and then they loaned the outfit…insanity
Loved your insightful commentary. Couture is such an art form & the people who wear it absolutely live the lifestyle to exhibit it & show it off!
I love you❤!
My mom worked at Phelps fabric in Jacksonville, Florida. In the 60’s 70’ till 1980. They closed and made Dresses for author Murray’s dance studio for people !so I was a child under her cutting table , you make me so happy after watching yours videos ! Thank you ❤
Loveeeedddd this video. Love Christine too and her style. Looking forward for more of your videos ❤🩷🏆🥇
Luke you were so fun in this video. Of course you brought the sass but you were silly too! I loved it! I want more like it!
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!!
You look so proud through the whole video! I love it!
I surprised myself - hadn’t expected to enjoy this video so much … or at all to be honest! I thought it would be another brash overhyped celebrity with more money than sensibility … how wrong I was. Such interesting insights into the world of a contemporary courture client. Thank you!
I adore your enthusiasm and sweetness and as always your taste is right on . Thank you .
I really enjoyed this! I think it's mostly because she knows the actual worth (monetary and beyond) of every piece, and not just the more common "oh look i have lots of designer things" closet tours.
Love Christine Chui. Love that you did a video on her video ❤️
We need more of these Haute Couture Closet tours.
Happy she got to have a baby. That's a huge journey for her so it's great to see her child. So cute too. Beautiful collection she has there as well ❤
Wow. I learn a lot on couture with this video. Thank youuu
Love these videos!
Could you imagine seeing a peak of Daphne Guiness' closet? Margherita Missoni? Poppy Delevigne? Ivanka Trump? Chloe Sivengy? Coco Rocha? Kate Moss? Christie, Naomi, Iman? Or a designer OG like Vera Wang, Donatella Versace, Muccia Prada? Ugh I couldn't even imagine how magical their closets and archives must be. Or any princess or long respected family name socialite from Asia.
Also, would be interested in seeing a closet tour of a man!!!! A male designer or fashion client. A prince, a stylist, influencer, actor, philanthropist, dancer, critic, etc. Maybe you can produce your own series!!!! I think you could get some great people that would love to talk fashion, show off their beloved pieces, and help your career. Just saying.. youre welcome btw. Dont forget your subs that have been here for a long time and truly are grateful for you and your hard work. Hope you make all your dreams come true!
Also, pretty sure make-up artists would likely have cool wardrobes. Depending on who, a lot of them seem to have a strong style, they are tight with famous clients, rub shoulders with so many people, are on set a lot, and probably have access to some really neat pieces.
I prefer the previous background with the books behind you. It made me feel like all your knowledge was on full display.
I saw him reply on a different comment that it's a temporary background right now.
So much fun to watch your commentary.
I love your little photo bombs in the thumbnails !! ♥
What a great collection! She really treasures each piece!
When I watched this I was thinking you would be happy to watch this.. and NOW you areeee.. I am happy❤😂
Hi Luke, Love all your videos! Have always wanted to know who made the shirt you’re wearing I’ve always loved it☺️☺️
oh my, this is one of his very best!!
Love your shirt!
Ivf is absolutely miserable. The hormone treatments are horrible for your mind. We got my miracle boy so it was worth it. If you do it, just prepare
I thought I recognized that D&G piece from the Heavenly Bodies exhibit! I swear, HB is still one of my favorite Costume Institute exhibits. Anyway, Christine is honestly so fun when it comes to fashion because she's one of the few socialites who is a true client of haute couture and fully understands and loves each piece.
Can you please do more closet vids? I really enjoyed this , even more than your roasts😊
I'm so out of the loop when it comes to fashion....but one things for sure there's a few pieces i liked in this vid...i love when you explain each piece that is presented.
Yay one of the first!!!
This is indeed a treasure trove
agree!!
I love you lmfaooo the boat rocking was dead on
Love seeing Luke so happy ♥♥♥
It's good to see him so positive!
The Dolce and Gabbana show was at the Montreale Cathedral, which is breathtaking (I visited it a few years ago), and it's actually a mix of different styles that reflects Sicily agitated History : Roman (from French Normandie), Byzantine, baroque and a touch of Moorish.
It was a joy watching you get all giddy at this amazing wardrobe after seeing your disappointment in so many red carpet reviews.
One day, one day, I will have a pair of bespoke shoes. Nothing fits, all shoes hurt, and to even imagine feeling comfortable in some beautiful, perfectly fitted footwear is well out of my reach. One day, though..
The smile on your face is worth millions 💓
I like your sweater !
First time seeing Christine Chiu and I’m smitten. 💕
Speaking of great stories, I could listen to her voice all day/night long. Please tell me she records books on Audible! I don’t even care what the subject is. 😭
The comment session seems more interesting than the video itself, i love the video though and the intricate details provided . But I'll take my time to dive into this comment session and gather some more interesting stuffs.
this is art
Amazing video Luke, you need to react to Jamie Chua's new closet
Wondering if Christine will buy from Giambattista Valli again, considering the drama. Lu Min basically implies that she won't be supporting the brand, and she's one of the biggest couture client in China.🤔
She is a billionaire and she wasn't able to get a Pret a porter decent dress for Buckingham Palace?
Dorota would’ve absolutely found something for Blair
maybe she didn't wanna wear rtw
Iconic ❤😂
I love this series. Crazy lol
Great video
Finally a wardrobe of a true fashion lover
I wish we could have seen these on!!!
This and Huda Kattan's closet tour are probably the happiest we'll ever see Luke 😂 the bar is in the stratosphere 💀
Yay closet review
Adore her 🍾🥂 she so funny and Incredibly smart .
5:05 that dress was actually from Elie Saab Fall 2016 couture collection❤❤
First dress is Elie Saab Haute Couture FW 2016 look 37!!
I know Christine isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I love her. She's aware she's extra and just goes with it 😅
great video
Now I’m going to google Christine! ❤❤
