    Yass! So excited to see you back, Tab & Watson! My puppy is 7mo now and has been doing so well with your training philosophy. Thanks and can't wait for the video to go live :)

    Good to see you doing videos again. I learned so much from your videos and used your techniques to teach 3 of my dogs. They were the stars of their puppy and also their basic obedience classes, which I took them to mostly for socialization.So Thank you!

    Using the technique on your crawl video, it took about 2 mins to teach the dog to crawl across the room (clicker and treats).

    Took one training session for my pup to get it. All I did was put him in a down position and lured him with a treat to come forward. Then I just added the word "crawl" as I repeated the process until he understood what I wanted him to do.

      Saber- Edits I wish, my dog ACTUALLY acts like a human. Isn’t energetic playful doesn’t eat anything other then human food only eats flavored bones and when she doesn’t want to hang out with you (90% of the time you want to hang out with her) she puts down your hand with her paw or just starts barking at you. Either that or rolls over then goes to sleep 😭😭the only time she wants to play is when you don’t want to play or she just woke up from a what feels like to her 2 day slumber

    I have a 11 months female german sheperd.Trying to teach her to crawl, she stands up to get the treat. How can I avoid that? Thanks

      @TrainingPositive  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bill Llib stick with step 1 for longer. Set your reward criteria to the various targets that I put on screen at 1:45.

      Υοur dog sits down nicely and can push forward, while my dog sits with back legs on the same side and cannot push forward. How can I achieve better down position? Thanks

    • @TeslaNick2
      @TeslaNick2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Instead of training the down from a sit, try doing it from a standing position so your dog goes into a "bow" and then "folds" into the down. You might find he'll lie evenly.

    • @Bill_Llib
      @Bill_Llib 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Υou're absolutely right, my friend. From "stand" to "lie",she lies properly. Thanks

    • @TeslaNick2
      @TeslaNick2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Excellent ! Well done ! Also, it's the "proper" way to teach down. The "folding" down is from the sport dog trainers, pet dog trainers nearly always teach the "crawling" down (sit position into the down position) which looks so amateur. It's a lot more flashy if your dog knows the folding down.

    Is using a clicker better than using your voice with dog training on the long run?

    • @TrainingPositive
      @TrainingPositive  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All_4_Paws you don’t have to choose and I recommend using both at different times and in different situations. But it is important to use a clicker because it helps you develop better training habits and improves your timing. So to answer your question in one word: yes!!

    • @all_4_paws797

      @@TrainingPositive ok thanks

    • @TeslaNick2
      @TeslaNick2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use a clicker when I need precision timing. It's neutral, distinct, consistent and short.

    • @zemtek420
      @zemtek420 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TrainingPositive I personally do not use clickers for one its just annoying as hell on videos. 2 you do not always have your clicker on you. 3. Its impossible to remember to bring the clicker with you every place you go. 4. its a myth that it helps improve your timing with markers. Verbal markers are so much better than annoying clickers. How ever you did give some good advise in this video on how to teach crawl. I am just starting up my own youtube channel for dog teaching as well and I 1000% agree with you in your one video that it is so rewarding teaching your dog to do so many things.

    • @zemtek420
      @zemtek420 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@all_4_paws797 You are better off using verbal markers. You always have your voice with you. A lot of the teaching I do with my Ruby is spur of the moment teaching and I do a lot of behavior capturing which clickers just suck for. Its better to just practice being better with your verbal markers.

    Tried the techniques... Don't know if my dog if stupid or if I'm doing it wrong but he just keeps scratching my hand when I'm trying to guide him forward instead of moving.. He holds on to my hand and pulls it towards himself to get the treat....

    Is this safe for a 4 month old puppy to learn? I don't want to drill it, rather teach the concept and then leave it until he's older, but just to have something new to challenge him 😅

      maybe practice "lure training". Just practice putting a treat in your hand, and having her follow it around, in circles, and the other way, backwards. I did this, when I was trying to teach my puppy how to "go in between". Maybe she just needs more work following a lure (I don't know though, because I haven't even tried this with my dog yet).

    • @emily-uk9hf
      @emily-uk9hf 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      also, with that practice, if she starts to give up, bring it closer to her nose again.

    So it’s obvious that this dogs already knows the “crawl” but for the dogs how are learning this trick for first time shouldn’t we be saying the word “crawl” from the very beginning so the dog associates the trick with the word??? Other wise how does the dog know to crawl
