"Wasshoi Wasshoi Wasshoi Wasshoi!" Great reaction. As you found, the song title doesn't really translate - it is 'Metali' or 'Metari' and it is a made up word fusing Metal and Matsuri (festival). It is another of their fun songs with all the shouts (like wasshoi, dokkoisho, sore etc) that would be called out at Japanese summer festivals encouraging people carrying heavy floats and so on. This is a great live song - and they get the whole crowd jumping and having a good time with this one. The song is about a Metal village holding a Metal summer festival. There is something in the lyrics and in Momometal's Kabuki Theatre part about we are all fools - the fools who dance and the fools who watch - and as we're all here and we're all fools we may as well all dance. Tom Morello was lead guitarist with Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave. He provided the guitar solos after Momometal's Kabuki section - I'm sure you saw him behind them and how they ended the video sitting on his guitar. You are right, BABYMETAL are all about the crowd interaction and a lot of their songs are written with that in mind - they love to have the crowd become part of the show and part of the performance. As far as this not being like the other BABYMETAL songs you've seen so far ... every song will be different. This one does actually have some similarities with 'Megitsune', one of their earliest songs and the one I would say best represents who and what they are. They even got the same video editor back to shoot this video as shot the 'Megitsune' video. Thanks for putting your reaction to Moabanger up for free on your patreon. That was a very special performance of the song 'Headbanger' (a coming of age song) for Moametal's 20th birthday in 2019.
Nice one, thanks! Yes, song's name is "Metali" (metari) which is the combination of "metaru" (metal) and "matsuri" (traditional Japanese festival). So it's a "matsuri" influenced song and it's all about hyping the crowd and inviting them to dance and sing along. Musically, it's very groovy and funky. I love Su's clean yet aggressive vocals here. Really cool collaboration with Tom Morello who commented this: "I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I've been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of 'Metali!!' I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!". Very happy for Momoko on her first song as an official member (this is from 2023 H2) and also for her feature on that kabuki (traditional Japanese theater) style interlude. She enunciates in that exaggerated style, very typical of the kabuki theater, something like this: "you’re a fool if you dance, and a fool if you just look on, so let’s dance. But if you dance to also be a fool when you dance do the metal, do the metal!" 🤘🦊
Tom Morello is from Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. He does some funky things with a guitar. OH and the live version of this song is where we first got a Momo-Metal growl.
In Japan they have summer street festivals called Matsuri, where they sing and dance. This song is calling everyone to a metal matsuri - and they combine metal and matsuri to come up with a new word, metali.
Tom Morello is a great and famous guitar player, from the American rock band from the 90s "Rage against the machine".. I recommend checking out Killing in the name, it's a very good song
Well one of the real reasons why they needed this song: they knew everyone wanted to see more of their newest members, but she was shy. They knew from the pld Sakura Gakuin recordings that she was able to speak and play Kabuki voices, and so they added a few Kabuki Scenes in this song and they added a growl. So in the middle of the song Su has a callout sit down, later " get down" So that the audience in the back can see the stage. Moa and Momo signal to the audience to get down to and reply it vocally if needed. Then all three rush back to the center of the stage Moa and Su sit down and Momo goes to the second line line and starts her performance, which she finishes with her growl.
Nice reaction! Did you enjoy BABYMETAL's Japanese summer festival music?🦊 I hope you will continue to listen to BABYMETAL. By the way, summer in Japan from July to September is very hot 🥵🔥
Wasshoi! 🦊🤘🏮 Welcome back to the Foxhole. Here's some official info about this song released last year. "This is officially the first new song by the newly reborn BABYMETAL, now consisting of SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL. This song is very up-tempo and one that was created with the envision of a summer festival taking place in a metal village and everyone forming a circle to celebrate the festival. BABYMETAL is ready to make this summer even hotter with their new song. BABYMETAL are now celebrating a very special collaboration with legendary guitarist Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine. This collaboration with BABYMETAL will become a very exciting opportunity for both artists transcending generations." Tom Morello comment: _"I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I’ve been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of METALI!! I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!"_ The song title is Metali!! (metal + matsuri, which is a Japanese festival) and you can hear it in the spoken section when MomoMetal is doing the Kabuki moves style. Just so you know "wasshoi" is another shout used in Japanese festivals when men are carrying the shrine, similar to sore and soya in Megitsune and Karate. The traditional Japanese instrument you can hear in the beginning is a shamizen, also used in Megitsune. I can totally see why they pick Tom Morello on this, the groove, the catchiness, the super energetic jump and those typical 90's vibes at funk or alternative metal live concerts. This one is definitely a banger when performing live and they finally met along with Tom recently at Download Festival last month. Keep enjoying more BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥
Babymetal music lyrics band! From Passcode for epicness or passcode bands! Very famous music lyrics at the live concert of 2019! We dig 😎 defatica! A very lovely passionate song note massage! In very fine Japanesse hand writing! Have a very impressive beautiful day ❤😀😊
Exactly, this was obviously Sus idea. She described the metal audiences as a metal village, and she wanted to create a party in this village. With some adoptions it should include males and females and not such strict clothing regulations

Metali LIVE at Sunmersonic is a great performance of this song.
