Hello, can I do this with my Acer Aspire 5 A515-51g with the RX580? It has built-in MX150. I ordered gdc beast v8.0 ngff version.
Im not familiar with the machine. You have to open it up to check if you have the available slot.
I did and it's the ngff slot
btw at 7:08 is that disabling the pcie slot where the ngff is plugged into?
@@kirinoxkyousuke No.
@@Meanpooh then what does that do?
i have a question if i have two sata drives on my alienware could i get an m.2 adapter to hookup would that work so i dont use my wifi card?
ik this video is a while ago but can you use a usb to ethernet adapter secondly which EXP GDC should i get for 4060 card
do you use this as your main set up? how is it now? did it shows negative signs? i want to do this on my laptop too. please respond thank you. i want to game on my laptop it has no gpu only intel 620 and it sucks. please tell me if this is your main set up or daily driver. thank you
No, this was just an experiment. Only Negative is that its not portable anymore. You will also be hindered by your cpu if you go high enough in graphics cards.
@@Meanpooh do you think rx470 is ok with i5 8265u? i only play csgo dota gta r6. i kinda wanna do this thing in my laptop as my rig. what do you think? do you think it is a good idea?
@@frostybadboyyt2689 That combo will work good together. Do you already have the GPU? Does your machine have a M.2 slot?
@@Meanpooh i have the gpu and power supply. but i dont have the gdc8.0 i havent ordered it yet. i also have the m.2 slot with m.2 sata and windows on it. but also have extra space for ssd. what can you recommend to me of what i should do.
@@frostybadboyyt2689 Get the version that fits in the M.2 slot if you can. If you use the Wifi Bluetooth version and decide to remove it later, its very easy to break the Wifi antenna. The M.2 version is also faster having a wider bandwidth. This version will also cause you to relocate Windows to SATA.
Just curious if this compatible to any graphics card?
I checked the list of compatible gpu
Im not sure. I’ve seen as high as an RTX 2060.
Really late here but do you think that an overclocked 1070ti will bottleneck on the i5 9300h model? Thanks
No, it shouldn't.

Why you disconnect WiFi-module, if Acer Nitro have free pci-e slot ?
Because not all Acer Nitro have same Motherboard Layout.

im getting code 12 error
ive installed the driver, but without the nvidia control panel
my laptop is still using the intel hd graphics 4000
laptop can read the nvidia graphics card but with caution icon and with code 12
i have 2nd monitor which is plugged in my laptop because when i try to plug it in the gpu i only get black screen
my laptop model is e1-470p, windows 7 64bit os, egpu is nvidia gt730
i also tried to update my bios cause i get nothing much to do in my bios but the update seems no effect nothing really changed
Some people are having that problem and from what I've read, you're better off buying a new computer if you're going to be doing any kind of gaming. If you feel lucky.....egpu.io/forums/pc-setup/fix-dsdt-override-to-correct-error-12/
Why didn't u try the m.2 version? And btw i think since both 970 and 1050ti gets installed when installing drivers they cause bandwidth loss while vega 56 is amd card so it won't interfere with the 1050ti... try amd equivalent of 970 and say the results...
True on the driver install. That's why you have to disable the 1050. I dont think ill be purchasing any more hardware for this. It was just a test to see if it works with the Nitro 5.
will it work just for the laptop, no external monitor?
No.
hi i have a laptop with i3 4005u which gpu do you recommend me to use
I would go for 1050ti even though your CPU will bottleneck it. You're better off getting a new laptop. You will put too much money into it. GPU, Power supply.....it adds up.
@@Meanpooh oh ok tq for replying btw the items at my country are quite cheap as well cuz even gtx 1060 6gb cost like 150 usd.So budget is a not problem in my case. But maybe i might buy a new laptop with a i5 maybe
Help, i cant access my nvidia control panel
I really appreciate your hard work and I liked the video. I own the same laptop and I'm more impressed on the COD MW latest one. I installed and story mode works good on low settings but the multiplayer one sucks. I'm thinking of this solution and it would really help me if you can suggest me a good graphics card that I can go with for medium to high graphics level that provides around 60FPS for COD MW. Also please let me know if the external monitor is mandatory. Thanks in advance.
A GTX 1660, Ti or Super will work. You will need a monitor or LCD TV.
Hi this is a nice video, im wondering if i could attach the Egpu to my m.2 nvme ssd slot without having to remove the wifi card? I dont want to remove my wifi card ://
Yes, absolutely.
U can use usb wifi dongle as substitution
how can i start use build in card again?
should it run with msi laptop?
I just can't use the both video cards?
no
is the ngff faster than the m.2 x4 version of the EXP GDC?
No, it is the other way around.
Here is a complete Rank of Speed for external GPU setup from fastest to slowest
1) M.2 NVMe X4 eGPU (ADT-Link R43SG & EXP GDC V9)
2) Thunderbolt 3 eGPU running at X4 lanes (Razer Core X and many others)
3) M.2 NVMe X2 eGPU (ADT-Link R43SG & EXP GDC V9)
4) Thunderbolt 3 eGPU running at X2 lanes (Razer Core X and many others)
5) NGFF WiFi card slot eGPU (EXP GDC V8)
6) ExpressCard slot eGPU (EXP GDC V8)
7) mPCIe WiFi card slot eGPU (EXP GDC V8)
@@ClayWheeler Hi Bro... thanks for this information. my laptop is Support M.2 SSD with PCIe 3.0 2x. can i use AD-link ? or i just can EGPU with EXP GDC ? thanks before
@@fianmu make sure how many slots available?
If it has 2 slots (1 used, already from the Laptop itself, 1 empty) then you can use ADT-Link.
If you just looking for ADT-Link, the result are mostly M.2 NVMe X4 model but it can still work with M.2 NVMe X2 slot.
@@fianmu also, make sure the empty slot says "M.2 NVMe" or "M.2 PCIe" or "SATA PCIe" written near the slot.
If it says "M.2 SATA" or just "SATA" then it means that slot Cannot be used for eGPU.
Bro I use the same laptop, can I connect it to a gtx 1660ti ?
Im sure you could but I would use the M.2 slot version.
Hi did you try it with the 1660? Did it work?
Wouldn't it deliver a better performance if you connect the dock to the m.2 slot instead? Been thinking about getting an external graphics card for my laptop, I also have a an515, but with a gtx 1050 4gb
Yes.

@@booi1993 Yes a little but it will still run better than 1050.
Kinda wondering about the temps for the laptop itself since the gpu is now outside of it.
the usual temps for my laptop is around 75-90c depending on the game. furmark after undervolting is usually aroun 80c ambient temperature of 28c (it's usually 30+ where i live hahah)
That's not too bad. At least you dont have to worry about winter storms. I hope you have some kind of air conditioned area for your gaming needs, it will help a lot.
Ugh....mx150 GPU is upgradable without external gpu..... right??
No.
you think I could use the EXP GDC with a gaming capture card such as the Elgato 4K60 Pro Mk.2 instead of a GPU?
No. According to the box, for you to successfully install your 4K60 Pro into your PC, you will need at least a 6th generation Intel Core i7 or an AMD Ryzen 7 CPU or better. You will also need a spare x4/x8/x16 PCIe slot and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10 series graphics card or better.
@@Meanpooh Aren't those CPU and GPU requirements there for if you want to get the full potential out of said capture card? What about if you use it to capture at a lower resolution / framerate? I'm currently managing window capture and streaming at 720p60 just fine with my old laptop (i5/default graphics card), why wouldn't it with older consoles and the 4K60? Eventually I would want to integrate the capture card into a proper gaming desktop and use its full potential of course, but I don't have the financial means to put that together yet, hence the question about the (temporary) experiment with the EXP GDC.
Tldr; would my laptop recognise the capture card and be functional in the first place?
@@horgoththerelentless261 So basically you want to use your Elgato in the Express slot like a desktop PC without disabling the Intel Graphics card such as the Nvidia or AMD GPU? If this is correct it may work. Getting the computer to detect it would be the only issue but thinking ahead, it shouldn't. You may be able to get away with using a small power supply adapter as it would not use a lot of power like a GPU.
@@Meanpooh was wondering if you could get back to me (mostly curious still about the PSU question)? Thanks!

No.
I'm getting ready to supe up my nitro 5. I had a few questions. @0:44 you said that that was the ngff version (m.2 ) and that was the one you were using. The port for the antenna is 1x and the spare m.2 is a 4x. Just wondering why you didn't use the 4x? I also saw someone with the same laptop as you and me and they did something similar but their adapter has 2 hdmi ports and in broken English said to not mix them up. He didn't specify which was which and said to refer to the instructions and the link provided had no instructions. Any help you could provide would be awesome!
