Only his second lesson and he's already got the faces of rock down, i'm impressed! ;)
On the tastiness level, Alex's playing is a rare steak.
it's science fact red meat has the most flavour at medium, and that's not a joke, I went to a convention about British lamb and the British champion of butchery told us that, it could be bollocks but I just thought it may interest you.
+William Stanway Lamb tends to have more flavour once you cook it past rare-medium rare (obviously not well done mind you). But I find that beef steaks has the best flavour and texture at rare, but thats dependant on the cut of beef you're using

+Noah McCoy Only on a Chapman comment section will you find two lads conversing meat on a guitar related video
+Wolfie 24 it's all personal preference and your right fillet is much nicer just under medium, you should only cook fillet blue as well, you should never eat sirloin and rivets blue, the fat does not cook and the meat tastes ugly, fillet you can eat raw though , again all personal but those are classic guidelines.
That is hands down the best guitar player Ive ever heard thats only played for 2 weeks....sensational!

Alex is a fantastic guitar player. This is cool no bullshit hooked to the guitar so you can run any guitar you have instead of using just one Im sold.
Hey Rob big fan of the ml3 modern been looking to try one, just curious are you thinking of stocking Chapman guitars in any other uk guitar stores or are you going to just stick with Andertons, the 300 mile drive form my house is quite far :D
My god this thing sounds amazingly funky.
This is a pretty cool unit and I imagine once inside you can make some pretty gnarly sounds...however, I will be going with the Roland GR-55. If you all haven't seen it yet Rob and Alex did a killer demo of it a while back...Captain should've been there for that one.

That is one technologically sophisticated box. It actually is a pretty amazing achievement. That said, as a guitarist who loves tone, to me this is stupid. If I want synth sounds I'll use a synth. To take the world's greatest instrument, the electric guitar, and turn it into a cheesy keyboard is folly. I predict they'll sell a lot of these, and then the used market will be flooded with them as guitarists get bored with them. However, I will say the slower passages where he combined the natural guitar sound with a good mellow keyboard sound were pretty cool. That'd be useful to guys who gig solo. At the end of the day, it's just another tool and it gives guitarists who can't play keyboard the ability to sort of play keyboard.
Are all those classic instrument emulation patches like violin, horn, etc on presets? Holdsworth used those a lot on the Synthaxe for his solo voices, usually with some kind of breath or foot controlled expression parameters. That's what I'd really like from this pedal.

Great! I've got one of these. For me it's the first Guitsynth that works, since the GR300. And like the old 300, it's more like a big fuzzbox than a synth.

Pity the viewer couldn't see the effects unit itself whilst it was been changed from sound to sound. Doe's this peddle also have piano, or trumpet and cello sounds, etc?
Back in the late 70's early 80's I had a Roland GR-300 and the guitar controller called a G-808 (I think). It would play like a 4th or 5th of an entire chord, so you could stack them. It really did strange things to major sevenths and minor sevenths. Can this thing handle that?
Does anyone know if there is any software that can do this? I don't mean synth software that is MIDI driven by a MIDI pickup. I have found an monophonic iOS app called "Jam Synth" that does the same thing - it's good but fairly limited.
wikichris Yes the boss gt-100 pedalboard can control synths as its a audio interface too so plug the boss into the laptop fire up you're daw once the guitar signals on a channel drop your favorite vst on it but other then thats there no other softwear/hardwear that can do it! So this or the roland gt-55 synth
wikichris yes, there is software called midi guitar and is pretty good. I thought boss had just put it in a box to begin with.

I love one sound in particular , that starts at 1:30 - 1:53, I assume he uses the SY300 for that but does he also use something else, namely the Roland next to it? So my question is what do you need to reproduce that sound, thanks in advance. Great video!

So glad that these guys think outside the box and use this pedal to actually play riffs using the sub-octave type effects, rather then just mucking around with some organ butterfly or some shit to make ambient sounds.

Some variation should be great. It's clear Alex loves the power-saw sound with some filter sweep. Now common make another sound, it's a synthesizer with 3 oscs. Even my Juno 60 with 1 osc (and one sub) has a wider tonal range... and it sounds less bad.
i like it but the volume seems to need to be level i love the tracking the way you can use the wammy and its realy so much like a keyboard
