This has to be one of the pretties Metric tunes "You leave your eyes there for me to memorize I can see you happy in the shadows I despise" gets me every time.
@micalishis This album was from a much earlier Metric and their style has changed considerably since then. Personaly, I think this is their best album.
For some reason, my mind sent me straight to this song after listening to Sea of Love by Cat Power. They're so different but they work together together. Both beautiful, both amazing.
Metrics first album. This song i share with a great friend. She loves metric as well. Grow up and blow away, has been such an experience after 20 years of being a fan.
@micalishis actually this is their very first album recorded in 2001 and released until 2007, they changed alot their style from this to old world underground
I had to listen to Synthetica a few times in a row for it to grow on me, it's not their best, but a few of the songs are on par with their older stuff. Speed the Collapse specifically reminds me of something that could have came after Blow up and Blow Away if they stuck to that style.
*SHE WAS TOO LOFTY FOR THE BASEMENT LIFE, SHE DIDN'T WANT TO BE THE LANDLORD'S WIFE, SHE LEFT THE BASEMENT LIFE.... NOW THAT SHE IS OLD IN HER 30s SHE WANTS A CHANCE..... SUCCESS IS THE BEST REVENGE..... I AM THE LANDLORD OF MY LOFTY BASEMENT NOW.*

@missburn I couldn't get past how pop-y it sounded; I just couldn't get into it. It seemed like the lyrical content didn't really compare to any of her other writing either.
This has to be one of the pretties Metric tunes
"You leave your eyes there for me to memorize

this is their best abum. this and one world underground
just found this band. her voice is driving me Crazy, especially how she says guitar. more music that should have gotten millions of views.
I am all grown up and have blown away.
This is an odd bit of slight nostalgia for me. Even better than I remember.
emily haines voice just makes everything so much more beauitful christ
this chorus is permanently in my head
I just listened to some stuff from "synthetica" and I had to listen to this album to purge the evil from my mind.

Me too. My favorite song from Metric.
For some reason, my mind sent me straight to this song after listening to Sea of Love by Cat Power. They're so different but they work together together. Both beautiful, both amazing.

This is different from the studio version! I like this version though
love this song and blindness

I'm hearing a good bit of Cardigans on this one.
very much
this is better than the other version

I agree.
@CovershotV8 Yes I know that. Also, the more I listen to it the more I like it so now I really like it.
bomb
@TheeDarkBatman It's true, but they did bring a modern edge to Grow Up and Blow away as well.
Album made in 2001. Calling it trendy in 2012 would logically mean that these are probably the musicians that initially set the said trend.
@extraterrestrail how are you able to fall asleep while listening to them? I couldn't.
am i the only one who like their old stuff and synthetica?
Ja,ja,ja!! Time to use Atube Catcher!!

She sang the song Grow Up And Blow Away... for thirty seconds.
Funky
La Roux's In For the Kill sounds eerily like 0:32 to 0:37
this is trully their golden album wtf they never play the songs from this album live...????
@Candiigalz no but ive had the name sence the matrix 1 in 1999
yes im a nerd but damn it i came up with the name !!!
is it shelves i despise or shadows?
@metricLover9999
well we wouldnt want that now would we?
@richardsucksx actually scrubs is pretty accurate
♥ :) ♥
"And not the landlord's wife"
I wish she/they made more albums in the style of Grow Up and Blow Away. It was really all downhill from here.
AGHH I'm upset now.
@missburn I couldn't get past how pop-y it sounded; I just couldn't get into it. It seemed like the lyrical content didn't really compare to any of her other writing either.
for some reason i can see this song on scrubs
@Narklesvarkles This and Fantasies are great, but I do think they should have stayed with these styles. Nobody writes music like this anymore.
@CarlyPacifici You mean, the show where the doctors are too busy being fake doctors to actually be funny.
seriously is this the reason people have stolen my name now!!!
those arent even the right lyrics lol
This album was "meh". It wasn't like their other albums.
