'Grow Up and Blow Away' and 'Old World Underground, Where Are You Now' are their best two albums. 'Live It Out' is an interesting but sort of different style for the most part that reminds me of other bands. Kind of a raw, angsty feel to many songs. Third best for me. 'Fantasies' produced some good tracks but it's hard for me to listen to the whole thing because it's so "in-your-face" like a lot of pop music is these days. Certainly they became more poppy around that time, but you can still sense their old Metric DNA seeping through. I think I like 'Synthetica' more than their previous effort. It seems more varied, perhaps, and a little more true to their core and growth as a band. So 'Synthetica' is fourth for me and 'Fantasies' fifth, I am saying just now. I can't decide between the top two because they are both so good. I admit that I have not even heard the latest one because I wasn't following Metric for a while. Listening to it soon...
@@miles9421 It's better than Fantasies, not as good as Pagans in Vegas. But now that I look back at my comment from years ago here, I see I was being somewhat judgmental about newer efforts, as if the older material is inherently better and the "truer" version of the band. That's not how I feel now, and I actually welcome artists changing with the years and trying some new things. I have a bias that ties me nostalgically to the music of my junior high and high school years, and in Metric terms, that is only the works through Live It Out.
Just realized how Cardigans-like Metric can sound. Such sweet sorrow. Also a bit of Breeders and Magic Dirt at times. Have stumbled upon them way too late in my life.
I was listening to this when I was 15 years old back in 2009 with one of my friends that I unfortunately, am not seeing anymore. This reminds me of her and I still miss her

musique et album rempli de souvenirs!! on écoutait cet album en famille quand j’étais jeune. pendant les longues heures de trajet en voiture, pour aller voir mes cousins/cousines. toujours un plaisir d’écouter metric qui a bercée ma jeunesse !
All of 2010 I listened to this album, and Gravel and Wine by Gin Wigmore over and over. I kinda forgot about it until All Comes Crashing came out. I love how different all of their albums are from each other.
I think that every "era" ,u wanna call it that, of metrics music, are all unique and special, and I don't hate any of them because I just have to be in the right mindset to wanna listen to any of them. Basically it changes by the day/week/month/year. Again this is just my opinion.

i wonder what metric would have sounded like if they continued to make music in the same vein.
I love this era of Metric's music. Amazing.

Favorite metric song ever. Still a banger after all these years. Mushrooms made it so.
The music made it so. But the mushrooms definitely helped (y)
I used to listen to this when I wasn't biking with my friend Haley.
That ending is pure bliss, could drop it at the dancefloor and everyone would go nuts

Why would we walk a broken path of minus signs.
Wow, so damn cool.
Why the hell do I wanna walk this broken life path of negativity.
Anyone who has an appreciation for poetry must love this band, and everything else about their sound is just a bonus.

Nothing at all.
You are everything you are
Nothing at all.
You are every night you fade
To light you fade
To light the room.
Daylight hides a new light on you.
Giving for chances to
Take it all in stride
Why'd we walk a broken line
Of minus signs.
