- In this video, I talk about the most recent Star Wars show called The Acolyte, this new show has been kinda interesting and peoples reaction to the show has been even more so. I'll talk about the reasons why there was so much backlash to this show and why I think political or religious reasons should not effect the content and what we think about certain media.

You said fans shouldn’t let politics dictate their experience.
The problem is, the studio is most definitely letting politics dictate their storytelling and messaging.
Fans don’t want that. And that’s fair.
Yes, but it's unfair how fans generalize. Shows should be judged on a case by case basis. I noticed no politics from watching the show blind to all the behind the scene content. Not like I noticed with products such as She-Hulk or Endgame.
The fact that the show got nuked with negativity before it even came out, as well as all the personal problems I've heard about the show thus far being really petty stuff, just proves to me that most of you lot are disingenuous with the hate. There's certainly an agenda being carried here, but fans are the ones pushing it this time.
Wake up, man. Disney Star Wars is dead.🪦👻
I don't mean to be disrespectful to you but you're wrong. The show is written badly and alters established lore/history. This is why people don't like the show. It has nothing to do with the extremely heavy gay agenda present in the show. Also, sorry, but did you say you really liked Kenobi?
oof
Exactly. It's just shit lazy writing. Simple as that.
You mean like midichlorians did? Star Wars fans always think they know best, which is pretty funny considering how fickle you all tend to be as well. Ya'll hated the prequels, TCW, Rebels, and then loved TFA. Remember all that?
I want to be transported to a galaxy far, far away, not to planet Earth 2024 in Star Wars costumes.
Then why waste so much energy paying mind to what happens behind the scenes?
It’s bad storytelling and bad acting and treating viewers as if they are dumb.
You don't hear your own hypocricsy in "I don't believe your political or personal beliefs should dictate what you watch" but it's perfectly fine they dictate what you shove down people's throats?
I somewhat agree with your post, but I take exception to the "shove down people's throats" meme. Please use another expression. That one sounds vaguely obscene, and I don't like vagueness.
Your political views are killing your joy. You let other people making things that aren’t good become a political thing. You are as under control on a script as a clone trooper doing order 66
@@NathanielHellersteinit’s becUse he’s a MAGA snowflake, he’s revealed his hand and won’t like Star Wars until all female aliens are hot and objects and all protags are white men. His script is written like a mind trick.
good perspective Nick
@@NathanielHellerstein The phrase "shove something down people's throats" is an idiomatic expression. It means to forcefully impose something on someone, such as an opinion, belief, or idea, without allowing them to reject it or choose for themselves. It implies an aggressive or unwelcome manner of pushing something onto others.
Isnt it interesting to you that you tried to argue its a fine show, but at the same time you said its not interesting, and you arent looking forward to the next episode? Even according to you it snot political reasons to not watch it, the show is just uninteresting.
bruh is like 15% today 😂
14% now
Youre the perfect person to watch this show. No expectations just star wars inspired. Youre a casual but youll need to understand there are fans of this franchise who are super invested (to a fault sometimes) to how this story is told
Interested always to a fault, they are. Want Star Wars to have silent women and human-centric, male-only protags they do. Change if acolyte is good this does not. A major twist I hope there will be.
@@cleardrop4531 None of them were the points of the critics tho.
We found the only fan.
"i like how the jedi DIDN'T use their lightsabers to fight unlike the jedi from before that just killed everything" yeh we can tell your a huge star wars fan
Sometimes when I close my eyes I can't see
This comment is hilarious on many different levels.
Star Wars fans have every right to say enough is enough. I don't know of a company that has turned on it's original fanbase more than Disney Lucasfilm has. The very thing they claim we are against (diversity), is the thing that has always been a huge part of Star Wars. George Lucas even recently defended the apparent lack of diversity in the Star Wars universe for crying out loud.
Real fans don't care about who the lead is, they care that the lead is well written and the story is compelling. Modern day Star Wars (with a few exceptions) lacks any emotion or imagination. There are a few projects in the SW universe under Disney that I'm thankful for but the rest including the sequel trilogy range from underwhelming to down right insulting. To take the inappropriate 1% of fans and somehow label all dissenting voices with that brush is so disingenuous.
How does a company buy a $4B franchise and have no plan, no story outline for episodes VII-IX? How does this company fail to reunite the original cast in even a single scene? How does such a big company publicly announce several projects only to cancel them shortly after? How does a company selectively fire certain actors for voicing their opinions but not others? How does a company like this fire several directors / creatives shortly after announcing them? How does a company lose hundreds of millions of dollars on an Indiana Jones movie? How has Disney still not turned a profit 12 years after acquiring Lucasfilm despite putting out more content in that stretch than the 35 years that preceded it? I could go on and on but rest assured that there are legitimate grievances by fans who have simply had enough.
Just a note about the word "like" for you. You should use it more. Like, start, like, every, like, word, like, with, like, so that, like, the, like, thing, like, you, like, want, like, to, like, say, like, doesn't, like, get, like, lost, like, between all, like, the, like, words, like, that, like, mean, like, something, like, more, like, than, like.
make me a bird, so I can fly far far away from a galaxy far far away that lost its mind
let me know if you see Jenny

Star Wars is dead.
Graphically it looks like Star Wars, but all the rest is not Star Wars at all. The only creators that truly grasps what Star Wars is are the CGI creators but the writers and actors don't.
Nothing about that show looks star wars lol.
star wars is dead
The reason it’s rated so poorly isn’t only because it’s a mediocre show.
If that was the only reason, a small fan base would approve of its content.
This is Star Wars, it has a huge fan base. So the expectations are very high. Rather than meet those expectations, they’ve spoiled the lore for existing fans with simple plots, riddled with mistakes and weird messaging.
It's not review bombing/ political believes, when FANS of star wars are angry at the fact that the writing is awful the source material was not respected at all, the people behind it are not FANS of star wars (like that actor saying anakin destroyed the death star, what a joke), you have projects with great diversity that are GREAT due to respecting the lore and good writing, not all are Haters just because they have an agenda...but because their beloved franchise is being completely destroyed, and now they will get it where it hurts, their pockets, no views = no money! so They will eventually change or die, at this point me and several other former fans of Star Wars will not watch any more of this garbage.

So this is the type of person they made the show for. Someone too afraid to criticize and too eager to consume purely off label bias.
This is a meaningless 'critique' of SW and 'Why Does No One like The Acolyte?' The fact you said you're going to watch a SW show no matter what, just proves you're a shill. You get a thumbs down.
Showrunners shouldn't put their political beliefs into a show that already has it's own audience and cannon. Don't sit there and tell me I shouldn't put my beliefs when watching a show that clearly the creators did. That's just being a hypocrite.
If Disney paid you please blink twice
"Please keep paying us."
its down to 15 now. your sign can't keep up.
Been watching stars wars for as long as i can remember, I love the originals and I'm sad to see what disney did with the sequels but honestly The Acolyte is pretty good imo, defiently enjoying it more then most other disney projects atm.
The original trilogy is junk food; the prequels are garbage; the sequels are plastic; and the Acolyte is poison.
Why did you bother watching any of it?
What? 😂
@@kendrathompson5207 did you know that junk food is very popular? they actually sell it almost everywhere on the entire planet.
The show is not that bad, even if its not racism, it sure looks like it, theres no reason for fans to be this mad, nothing in it as bad as prequels
The Problem the People have with it is not a political, one it is politics. The Creators of the show have more than once shown that they don't understand or like the Star Wars universe. They are just using the IP. There is one interview where some of the cast talk about that the "Bad Guys" aren't always bad and that "Anakin" destroying the death star also killed a lot of people. They don't even know who did that, apparently. Also the story is just bad. For example. The Acolyte have to kill a Jedi because their master said that they couldn't be harmed by laser or steel. May killed one in the first 15 min of the film with a very small knife. People got impaled in Disney Star Wars and lived. But this small knife killed a Jedi Master in seconds. Why? Also, the Fire in space part, but that's not too bad. There are so many errors or bad things in this series that nobody could watch it twice and still think that this is good story telling.
Some of the others Disney Star Wars series have the same problems. Kenobi for example, where most plots make noo sense. The Grand Inquisitor got impaled by the way and lived. Why? Why? Boba Fett was the worst disappointment. The Episode with the Scooter gang was the most embracing thing in Star Wars ever. Andor and Mando were good and Bad batch was too. But most Live Action is just Bad. And don't even get me started on the Sequels.
The review bombing is coming from the critics fam. 10 out of 10s for meh at best even if you are a Disney Star Wars fan. Critics used to protect consumers from bad product. Now they protect bad products to play ball.
It's literal hog slop, hope this helps
Wokespotting plus confirmation bias
I absolutely💯 ❤ The Acolyte‼😍🥰😘
No one cares what identity they are. It’s a terribly written show. Plots holes all over the place. Star Wars is dead.
If you think this show is good or well written, you're going to be a terrible film maker and you should probably quit now.
It is nothing and a shit show that is the end of it just watch killbill if you a activist
Coz it's absolute flaming garbage
L take
It sounds like u have the answer to your question. The show is being review bombed by ppl who hate the producers, creators and some of the actors for political reasons. It doesn't have much to do with the show itself. Many sites were being review bombed before the show even came out.
Ppl will nitpick the show to death but that's a smokescreen. The reality is that if u nitpicked ALL Star Wars the way that "The Acolyte" is nitpicked, no Star Wars project would hold up.
Everything you just said is wrong. This show is high budget cosplay written by children for a casual teen audience. It's forgettable to the "modern audience" it's aimed at and insulting to fans who've followed Star Wars for decades. It's not only a failure in a vacuum but also breaks what came before.
It's not review bombing when FANS of star wars are angry at the fact that the writing is awful the source material was not respected at all, the people behind it are not FANS of star wars (like that actor saying anakin destroyed the death star, what a joke), you have projects with great diversity that are GREAT due to respecting the lore and good writing, not all are Haters just because they have an agenda...but because their beloved franchise is being completely destroyed, and now they will get it where it hurts, their pockets, no views = no money! so They will eventually change or die, at this point me and several other former fans of Star Wars will not watch any more of this garbage.
It's funny how your theories fall apart the moment you leave your room. Like house of the dragon season 2 episode 1 just came out. Strong female characters, main ones, not just that but reigning queens. The actress of one of those queens is a member of the lgbtq folks. It has black people in it. Most guys are insufferable pieces of shit. If you watch it, it's just as woke as the acolyte. Somehow no review bombing. Somehow everyone and their mom loves house of the dragon. The only difference between both is one has good writing and the other doesn't. Might this be related to the abysmal ratings of the acolyte. Naaa it's muh toxic fans. They just don't know about house of the dragon yet ahahahahaah
House of the dragons s2e1 just released. It features strong female main characters and black people. Also an actress is lgbtq. Why no review bombing there?
