***closes eyes, takes a deep breath, begins to type*** when you said if you have clothes in your child’s closet I had to sit down and prevent myself from getting into my feelings… overconsumption has been my unhealthy therapy for so long and was really exacerbated during the lockdown last year. I have so many things with tags in my closet that it causes me stress 😔 Thank you for straight talk… before your video ended I was pulling things out of my closet that have to go so I can have peace and be excited about getting dressed. ♥️

Preach! I’ve been buying luxury for darn near 20 years -since I was in college - and have never bought full price. I was weaned on the Gucci seasonal sale in my youth and have never looked back. What you want will be on sale somewhere and someday! Just have patience and turn those store alerts on! Love your content, sis!

I cleaned out my closet because I bought items that were on sale or that were not my style but because they were in style I bought them. Now I have exactly what I want. However most recently I tried on a fabulous little black dress, the cut was amazing and it fit amazing but then I thought well there is no where to go so what is the point. The dress has been on my mind for three weeks now.
I had a few custom made items and everything of mine is tailor. I get compliments on my style all the time for looking neat and put together. The key is to have things that are good quality and tailor.
Edit: I got to the part of seeing people wearing fast fashion and a high end purse and I agree! The minute we do that we put the signal out there that the purse is fake even when it is not.

Girl I loved this post. You put me on to the bauble bar and many other brands. I want to continue to refine my style and I appreciate this content. Experts say 85% of our purchases are based on emotion. I DEFINITELY need to PLAN my purchases more often.
YESSSS to EVERYTHING once again.... Definitely decluttering and buying on the discount rack is a must. I like shopping at the thrift store. That's where I find a lot of quality pieces....
Planning my purchases also relieved the pressure I feel in luxury stores at times. I can go to Louis Vuitton and buy a belt because I came in for that and the process is streamlined but when other SAs recommend things I can simply say “ I didn’t come in for that” this has seemed to get a great respected response!

Most trendy things turn me off. Too many people rocking the same things. Luxury items are too expensive to be out of style after one season!

LOVED the comparison of clothing with food on your plate! Makes so much sense. Someone said you should put the most money on the things you use the most, and I try to follow that. Shoes, socks and underwear get the best budget. You can definitely tell when someone is wearing cheap lingerie, because breasts don't lie LOL

Love this message! Some seasons, none of the trends interest me, so I sit it out and wait. For example, I prefer jewelry that is chunky, and if metal, silver, so I've been waiting out on the delicate gold trend.

I used to be the trend-follower just by only shopping at fast fashion. My mother was a single mom and that's all we could afford, and she was a phenomenal mother and tried to make sure I had enough, so I had a lot of fast fashion pieces. I'm 24 now, I feel like I'm truly learning and developing my personal style now. I've discovered some boutiques and have generally strayed from the mall for the most part. Decluttering was a huge part of this process for me - and I had so much because I kept EVERYTHING - my family also was big on the "you might need it." But I've learned, if I'm not using it, there's a reason why, and I trust that more now. Decluttering also showed me I have a color palate that I tend to stick to: classic neutrals and gem-tones for the most part, a few pinks.

Something that I’m still overcoming is having too many basics. I went from having too many trend pieces and got rid of them to trying to rebuild my wardrobe with too many basics. Now I find it so challenging to style. I need to spice up my closet 😅

Hi Bew! When I tell you , your Channel is chef Kiss, Top Tier! The list was spot on and the word CHEAP is so necessary!!!! A lot of people are HOARDERS! They are beyond decluttering! Throw all that old Sh%# out!!! I feel a lot of people buy the entire manic-an. Especially for luxury pieces. You dont have to wear DIOR head to toe! Looks nutz. I am more conscious of the quality of the fabric which I took your advice on. But everybody do them I guess🤷🏽♀️. We all WORK and spend how we spend. Great video❤️

My biggest “ah ha” moment over the last few years is recognizing a pattern to what I know I don’t like so I can immediately avoid wasting my time looking at those types of items in store or online. For example, I don’t gravitate towards blues, browns or whites, I know what types of materials I don’t like, what styles like smocked dressed I don’t like, etc, having that list of what I know are hard “no’s” has saved me so much time and $$$ and helps me make much better decisions.
Every word was on point! I have made all the mistakes of creating a wardrobe not a style in the past. With wisdom, my purchases now have a purpose. I check the composition, wear per cost value & search for discount prices. Thank you for the honesty!

I really love your videos and your vibe because this is how I love to shop. I currently cannot shop high end but I can shop the best quality I can find for less. It takes more time to find suitable pieces for my body type, but it sure makes dressing for something specific easier. Girl my closet is so empty. I'm changing careers and dont know what to do. But the little bit I have are staple pieces that I've had for years and they are good quality. If I do trend in barely spending anything on it. I did learn from you on another video to make a list and that's what I'm doing...slowly 😭. I feel like the department stores in America just blast consumers with the most trendy, unflattering and difficult to wear items and it creates this common condition where women have perpetually packed closets and yet nothing to wear. At Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom it is so difficult to find neutral clothing. It’s just this sea of rhinestones and sequin dresses and things that look utterly cheap. Then you shop European labels (which are also much more committed to sustainability) and the collections are mostly neutral and the styles are often brought back season after season without 70% off fire sales every few months.
Can you reccomend some of the European labels? I am looking for more neutrals. Most of my now closet is black, tan, white and green.

I’ll wear a $10 sweatshirt, $30 jeans, Zara coat, and doc marts and I’ll carry a Birkin lol. But not a logo in sight lol
