No, this only charges the power bank via solar, however that takes quite a bit of time to do (7 days or so in full sun). I recommend considering the solar charging of the power bank a nice backup in the event there is extended time without the ability to charge it via cable.

This is a great option but if you really are looking for solar charging id get a power bank like this one but also a dedicated solar panel like this amzn.to/3qZQEW8
Thanks for this review. Been preparing for hurricane season and I’ve been looking for other ways to charge my phone more aside from buying a bunch of individual portables. Then I came across this portable on amazon and your video helped me decide to buy it! So thanks! Question: how hot does it get while charging off of the solar panels? I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about their solar power portables actually exploding or catching on fire so I’m just kinda concerned.

I've heard of that brand but never tried it. I still had Blavor regularly and love them. Well, all these small solar chargers are just making people fool. They have nothing to do with solar. The solar panel is so small and the battery so large that it cannot charge it even in 40 hours of direct sunlight ( which is also not possible )
I have charged mine quite a bit from the sun only. It does work. It is slow, which is why you wouldn't use it as it's main charging method. But I have done it, so it would be incorrect to say that anyone would be a fool to believe it so.
what would be the best bank for a nintendo switch? I work for the railroad, and spend hours out in the middle of nowhere, and kill my switch in a few hours. Which would you recommend?
Hmmmm this one would be a good size but if you want to rely on the solar panel to charge this isn't what it's really meant for. When you are sitting like this where are you? Does the powerbank size matter a lot?
I just purchased this power bank off of Amazon. My plan is to use it when I am out camping. I have a few small devices that I take when I go camping, portable small chargeable fan, a few chargeable lights and of course my phone which does have wireless charging. The trailer does have USB ports but when I go off grid I try not to use the trailers battery to charge my devices, that's where this power bank comes in. I am heading out for my 1st camping trip this week and will let you know how it performed. Really looking forward to the solar charging, sweet. Take care and great review.

@@JDubb I think it is because it was at the top of the list. I like your review and have subscribed to your channel. What's your favorite portable charger ?
@JDubb Is it still the best or is there a better one?.They came out w/ a newer that has 3 extra solar panels instead of the wireless charge spot feature
Outxe has rugged chargers you can charge with usb nd usb c at the same time they also have a 400mah solar panel on them for the same price but it does not have QI wireless charging
Great review, I’m getting a power bank mostly for disaster preparedness. I have ham radio for that purpose, but that radio doesn’t do me much good if I can’t keep it charged.
JDubb Yup also what’s amazing is how an electronics company actually made a power bank like that back in the early to mid 90s that was a 3rd party GameBoy accessory so you could power your GameBoy while camping! So apparently solar battery power banks have technically existed for over twenty years now because of that GameBoy accessory! :)
My experience with this type of power banks is not good. Their solar cell area is usually too small to get enough watts out of it, and it heats up in the sun while solar charging, which is not the best for the battery. I use a separate solar charger (it's bigger, with 14 W peak solar power, and capable to be the main power source) and power banks without solar, but with 18650s instead of pounch cells.
You aren't wrong for sure. Again, solar charging is not the main source to charge it. It works but SLOWLY. a dedicated panel is the way to go. Thanks for the comment and checking out the video! 😀
Does it ever shut off? I always see the lights blinking. I want it to shut off so that it is not empty when I need it. I use the power button and it activates the flashlight.
Hey! Which light is it? If its the battery light (blue) blinking and its day time or the lights are on, its telling you that the solar panel is getting enough light to charge the device
I live in the Teesside area of England and all's I want to know is how long does it take to charge my phone a galaxy a20 e if it takes a week like some comments are saying there's no point in getting one
It'll charge your phone in just over an hour or so from dead to full. The comments people are making about that are how long the powerbank charges only using the sun
I had a totally different experience. It won't charge in the Sun, and capacity is lower than promised. Now I use a small powerfilm solar panel, and an Anker power bank.
I’m using it for being homeless soon during a pandemic. 😃
Does it work charging from solar? I'm gonna be homeless as I got arrested and may lose my house lol

Thanks for the recommendation! Subscribed. Probably going to buy this through your affiliate link this evening.
Awesome thanks! I appreciate you checking out the channel
Does it charge the phone fast?
Love your reviews, so honest and honourable. I want to use it with my dad when we go camping!
🙏
I just purchased this power bank off of Amazon. My plan is to use it when I am out camping. I have a few small devices that I take when I go camping, portable small chargeable fan, a few chargeable lights and of course my phone which does have wireless charging. The trailer does have USB ports but when I go off grid I try not to use the trailers battery to charge my devices, that's where this power bank comes in. I am heading out for my 1st camping trip this week and will let you know how it performed. Really looking forward to the solar charging, sweet. Take care and great review.
:D
JDubb. I just now found you. I love this video! Hyper-interesting. Well-presented and an excellent product review. Thumbs up and i immediately subscribed. Looking forward to checking out your other stuff. All good wishes!
Thanks! I appreciate that and welcome to the community
How do you no when it’s fully charged when plug in
The LED lights are full
I bought one well similar, says to charge it by the cable first so the sun can keep it charged, also mine has a cig lighter and a bright light too, haven't used it yet but will let you know
Please do! What brand?
Plug & Play Reviews source is the brand if you have an email bro I can send you some pics of the accessories that also came with it
Today is Dec 15 2020 is there an upto date review on products like this one?
I'm not sure is mine still the most recent?
@@JDubb I think it is because it was at the top of the list. I like your review and have subscribed to your channel. What's your favorite portable charger ?
I still use my Blavor you see in the video as my main power bank. I don't have a ton on hand so it just does the job on all counts TBH
@@JDubb thank you sir. Thats all I needed to find out. Your help is greatly appreciated!
I want to have a solar power bank to use for camping, backpacking or if I get lost in the forest😂.
That sounds like a great deal if you don't need the QI Charging
how does it compare with 4 Patriots. ???
Haven't tested that one unfortunately, I can't say
Great review, I’m getting a power bank mostly for disaster preparedness. I have ham radio for that purpose, but that radio doesn’t do me much good if I can’t keep it charged.
👍
Perfect piece of kit to have while on a long term hiking trip in the wilderness! :)
It really is!

Yup also what’s amazing is how an electronics company actually made a power bank like that back in the early to mid 90s that was a 3rd party GameBoy accessory so you could power your GameBoy while camping!
You said its kinda good at harvesting solar power... how long does it take to fully recharge?
Does it ever shut off? I always see the lights blinking. I want it to shut off so that it is not empty when I need it. I use the power button and it activates the flashlight.
Hey! Which light is it? If its the battery light (blue) blinking and its day time or the lights are on, its telling you that the solar panel is getting enough light to charge the device
@@JDubb Thanks for the quick response. All of the lights are on and there is one light that keeps blinking. I am saving it for emergencies.
Outxe solar power bank. 24,000 mah battery
JDubb what he means is how long does it take to charge the power bank using only the sun
Love the video, I might buy one before my trip to Utah this spring. Does it still hold up in 2021 like it did when it was new in 2019?
I still use my weekly and its awesome
I’m buying a 10000 mAh one off amazon from the same company. Can’t wait till I get it.
Enjoy! 😁
What about Renogy? Not good?
Looking for a power bank to recharge Parrot Anafi batteries and the controller battery.
Is the charger USB powered? If so this should work
I had a totally different experience. It won't charge in the Sun, and capacity is lower than promised. Now I use a small powerfilm solar panel, and an Anker power bank.
Bummer! You must have had a defective one. Mine has been great. Still using it near daily since I recorded the review. Sorry to hear that. 🙁
