I have non-identical twin brothers and twin sons (my mom passed me on the fraternal gene) and no words can describe how special it is to witness the twin bond - it is something only twins will understand.
My dad is an identical twin. He lost his twin 10 years ago and hasn’t been the and since. It was hard seeing my uncle in his casket. It was like looking at my dad. In a sense, he died too and is a living shell. For identical twins, it’s like losing the same person twice.
I'm adopted, and I always had a fantasy that I had a twin somewhere. I found my biological mother. I have two half younger brothers. Neither is anything like me.
I'm 10 minutes younger than my identical twin. I was the leader. She made bad choices. We were bunched together as one. It was hard for me to chase after her through all the bad times. I had to detach to cope.
My twins were never separated. They both did soccer together study together went into nursing school together and our hard-core gym enthusiast together.
That's so sad. I lost my older sister. It still hurts years later. I can only imagine what it would be like to lose a twin. I went to school with identical twins. One passed away a couple of years ago. I'm sure it's really hard for his brother.
I find it fascinating how the twin sisters can find a partner so easily from the twin brothers, that they didn't both prefer the same brother or one sister is not as into the twin brother but doing it more for her sis. Surely it can't be just birth order that decides???
I agree. I’m a fraternal twin but we were always dressed alike as children, and did everything together. We couldn’t wait to dress differently. My sister coloured her hair blonde. We have actually led very different lives. She married at 19 and had her daughter at 21. She’s still married. I emigrated to Canada at 26 and married at 35. I have 2 daughters and divorced after 17 years. I live happily on my own. I don’t think my sister would know how to be on her own.
I lost an older brother to leukaemia. I was a bone marrow donor for him. Unfortunately, he contracted a virus 5 months after the transplant and passed away. It was devastating and it took me a long time to recover.
Did they have a “special” language when they were younger? I had a friend that had twin boys and when they were little and learning how to talk they also had this weird language they used when talking to each other. They knew exactly what the other one was saying but no one else did. There were a handful of words that the parents figured out what they meant. I remember nat-nat was what they called each other. It was like listening to little aliens 😂

I can understand the special bond and all, but I felt kind of bad when the one young lady mentioned she couldn’t do certain things for herself, I mean we all need to be as self sufficient as possible.
To be honest..I know about four sets of identical twins and only one set acts like this. All the others just look alike, but they are two totally different people who live there own individual lives.🤷 However, I think having a twin would be awesome❤
I would imagine being a twin could either make sibling rivalry either better or worse. On one hand, twins' connection to each other may make them root for their twin's success (more than a non-twin sibling), not only because of their relationship, but because the successes/failures of one twin are more likely to be FELT by the other twin. On the other hand, a lot of us know what it feels like to be compared to a sibling, but imagine the comparisons that would be made between twins. You're genetically supposed to be identical, which would make any deficit even more apparent. If people are searching for the differences between the twins, or ways to tell them apart, imagine dealing with those determinations. ("She's the NICE twin", "He's the OVERWEIGHT twin", "She's the successful twin", "His twin never did drugs like him, you should see how good HE looks", etc. etc.) There were even a set of twins in the nineties that dealt with this. The Han twins, I believe. One felt overshadowed by the other, she felt like the "bad twin", so she tried to have her sister killed so she could take her place and get a fresh start.
@@Redford1-g2tJeena Han is one of the most notorious cases. Allison and Ann Dadow is another. Robert Cerqua is another. I can go on. There was a whole episode of a documentary style show in the U.S that covered the topic of how serious twin revelry’s are.
We had 4 sets of twins in my senior class of 1995. 2 sets were identical and the other 2 sets were fraternal. There was another set of identical twins who were Sophomores. 5 sets in all in my last year of high school.
Then your chances are low.. if no one in your family has ever had twins, the likelyhood for that to happen without someone with twins in their extended family joins the picture, is really small to nothing.
