JIMMIE I MISS U MY FRIEND, UR KINDNESS AND THE BEAUTIFUL HEAVENLY VOICE LIKE NO OTHER. R.I.P. MY DEAR BROTHER AND FRIEND. U WAS TRULY, TRULY A SWEETHEART ❤❤❤❤❤
At 3:23 there is a shot of Jimmy and wife at the Hothouse in Chicago. This was December of 2005. I was at that concert and took pictures with Jimmy. He was beyond great! I miss you Jimmy!
all of the great singers did I this tune. Johnny Mathis and Roberta Flack, Arthur prysock, Peggy Lee, and a host of many others. But... No one does Justice to this tune, or even compares to tell this story as Jimmy does. Every time I listen to this song, it's as if I'm hearing it for the first time.
Aw Jimmy. A voice from the heavens, and a privilege to have experienced it live. He could sing slower than anyone else I've ever heard and pull it off beautifully because of that pure glorious tone he had. A master.
Listening to this dude that until tonight i had never heard of. Killing me that I ballin like a baby and wondering why i havent heard of him before. The music is so ....just beautiful. And to think, he was here, sharing the same space with me and i knew nothing of him.....Im speechless.
Jimmy Scott, WE always enjoyed listening to HIM, the JAZZ festival (mobile) in Harlem, WHAT a MARVELOUS Message in his VOICE.....RIP in the AFTERLIFE.....5,*****,performance
I can't say more than this. I sit down with my little dog and she, like me, gets herself into a different kind of of fascination with this guy's tempo, intonation and emotional input. She loves this guy. So do I. No one like him. An amazing singer.
Jimmy loved dogs, he had them throughout his whole life. We have a German Shepherd Dog he named "Jim Dandy:" after the 1953 hit record by friend singer LaVerne Baker.
Peggy Lee’s version (IMHO) is the quintessential version of this beautiful song. It’s soo restrained, effortless and soulful, brings tears to my eyes everytime
I am not ashamed to say that as a man, Jimmy is the only man to have ever brought me to tears with his songs. Watching "I Go Home" was an emotional experience for me. I grew up listening to him, and have so much of his music on vinyl and CD.
A must-have album. If you imitate his phrasing, you understand just how deep the feeling goes. His Day By Day is also out of this world. Thanks for posting!
Does anyone else know what happened to the rest of the recordings from this recording session? Jimmy got a budget to make a collection of songs his way. Half of them got released on Lost & Found, along with a few tracks from The Source. But what happened to those other recordings from 1972? I'd love to hear them... the 5 on Lost & Found sound so wonderful and are his best recordings.
Jimmy's student of song. Nancy studied Jimmy's songs as a child that her father brought home. She always said; "I sound the most like Little Jimmy Scott, without him there wouldn't be a Nancy Wilson."
@@SoulSister66 My apologize Mama Scott...never heard of Jimmy before tonight and I cant stop listening to his music. I can see the similarities to Nancy but Jimmy is different...cant put my finger on it but there is a slight difference. Anyway, his voice is beautiful, like nothing i have ever heard before. God bless him, and you too for sharing some insight into who he was. A true legend, musical genius....Thank you.

This was Nancy Wilson's musical idol. You can hear the similarities. Two of the great ones.

I never knew that, but I can hear it in the phrasing.

What a talent Jimmy was. Gloria Lynne also recorded a marvelous version of this tune in 1963.

SIGH................ the producer, unfortunately lost them over the years.
Who’s version came first? Jimmy’s or Nancy Wilson’s. I love how he slows it down so.
My Lord, if that ain't Nancy Wilson!!!

@@MKwaalDiop No apology necessary. Jimmy sings his true life story, his emotions are genuine.
