Do they have USB-C pass through charging? Old G14 could not bypass the battery and power the laptop directly, meaning it would top off and discharge the battery constantly!

    • @crimsontechyt

@@crimsontechyt Thats a huge con. This isn't real usb-C charging. My Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14.5" does this and I can game while traveling no problem with a 100W charger and an undervolt.

I also had the luck to test the TUF A14 myself and I can safely say, if not for the IPS panel and the average speakers, it would be far better deal. But since it comes dangerously close to the zephyrus, especially here where I could grab the 32GB ram model. I do not think Asus knew what they were doing with this one, unless they are planning big for the zephyrus line soon. If you do not mind the IPS screen, which is more than decent, this laptop is the best for laptop gaming, it is a beast.

Best Buy had the Zephyrus G14 4060 version at the same price as the TUF A14 and other great options (about $1200), so I bought the Zephyrus. I honestly would have went with something even cheaper but the OLED screen at $1200 with the parts is what sold me and the good speakers. I spend a lot of time editing & doing music. It's my first laptop. I was downsizing from all the old multiple PCs & servers I have. The only bad thing, which his for sure painful, is the solder RAM. And on a personal level, I prefer when more of the display / HDMI ports and ethernet port and power port are on the back of the laptop to get out of the way when using it as a desktop replacement. But it's clear this was meant for more of a portable thing of course. So not a big deal.

I actually searched so hard for a reasonably priced A14 but the only seller on Amazon with the HX 370 just would not budge on the price of $1650 until after I bought the G14 at Bestbuy lol. I don’t regret at all because the G14 meets my needs best despite all the things I WANT to do with the A14, prob would have spent more to upgrade it with storage only to not fully utilize it like I always do. Still feels like the A14 is the one that got away though haha, can’t stop watching videos on it.😢

man i'm super torn now. i just got the g14, but my main priority would be schoolwork/college, not gaming. i would say like a 60-40 split between the two, maybe 65-35. planning to go to college for computer science/engineering/math data analyst smth smth degree, so idk if i should prioritize the faster cpu, or if the difference between the two computers is negligible in that regard. im absolutely in love with everything else about the g14, and the main reason that sold me was the 32 gb ram, which is non negotiable for me. but yeah i could use opinions! thanks for this comprehensive guide!❤

    • @crimsontechyt

The G14 i have is 4070 too. And i'm getting at lows of 60 FPS and high around 69-70 FPS on 1080p Ultra Quality, Ultra Settings. Also there's no DLSS for the game, but you have it noted. Did you change any other settings to get those high frames? I never saw frames go above 80 at those settings.

Is this a perspective thing, or are the keys on the A14 legitimately smaller? I'm thinking about getting the A14 but small keys are a deterrent. @ In my experience the laptop has been just amazing, actually I was gonna buy MacBook as I’m into music production, but ah ended up with tuf a14 as its compact with ACTUAL efficiency in terms of battery life I’m getting around with my use is like 8-9 hrs, the amd hx chipset in this is very good in terms of efficiency and raw power, there’s ghelper for Asus, which is very very useless when it comes to these rog/tuf laptops, and gaming, I have rtx 4060, its great, no idea of the configs of legion 5, I think it’s 15 inch?? Tuf a14 is very light around 1.46 kg… which trust me will come into play when u carry around!
In the end its comes to ur decision, I’d say go with tuf a14 (if and only if its under ur budget and mainly it’s an amd hx 370 version and its preferably I’d say rtx 4060)

@@prodbyrt1956 Ok dude. Just came back from the store with the A14 under Ryzen 9 and RTX4060 under my wing ! Hopefully I won't regret the decision ! The screen is a bit of a let down compared to the OLED screen of the laptop that was next to it in the store (a 14 HP Omen transcend), but the speed was super fast compared to the HP with its i9. Couldn't test the Legion 5 Slim (14.5" actually) but with a Ryzen 7, I guess the performance would be even worse. A14 was the winner. Thank you for your answer !

@ congrats ma man!! Screen I agree.. oled screens r amazing, was tempted to go with zephyrus g14 but this amd chip really pulled me man, qhd screen is good on tuf a14 too i love it now,
also my suggestion, uninstall allll the Asus apps which r installed armory crate etc etc, u can keep myAsus I didn’t uninstall it either (only after registering and claiming the warranty obv), cause trust me they drain battery a lotttt, theres guides available in yt, then after uninstall, factory reset ur laptop, then download Ghelper. Ur gonna get amazing battery! Have fun 🤝

Hold for 4 years? I hope so. Since ASUS using a panel from OLED in 2022, i see a little bit of user complaining about durability of this screen. So it Will be.
And, if we research in YT or others social media, OLED has less of blue light, so it's safe for our eyes. Especially for us that using monitor more than 5-6 hours perday.

I dont know if it would have beaten the G14 if it had a 4070. It would have been margin of error, the G14 4060 and 4070 are already as close as this review shows. Most scenarios on this system are GPU limited and a new CPU isnt going to give much more FPS.

There's literally no space for another one in there, it has a nearly identical layout to the a14 but the space the a14 uses for an extra m.2 slot is taken up by a third cooling fan in the g14.

@@Cykadelia sure, vapor chamber could solve this probleme , but unfortunately they don't use it , if they will in 2025 models than i will buy one otherwise don't , i realy think that vapor chamber should be a minimum by any modern laptops
I think a dream specification looks like this:
      - 14" today's minimalist design is really good, it could stay that way
      - minimum 144mhz oled display
      - metal case of course
      - 2x M.2 SSD
      - +1type c in terms of ports
      - CPU: AMD AI 9
      - 4090 RTX
      - of course vapor chamber cooling solution, but if they were able to integrate an extra external water cooling connection like in the case of XMG, that would be brutal
IF they could put all this in this 14" case, that would be wonderful
