  • So here we have it, a decision has been made. The TD6 is going! Not going to plough any more money into it, just cut our losses and move it on. It's been emotional. #rangerover #rangerovertd6 #rangeroverl322

      Just looked on the icarsoft website and it has steering angle sensor calibration listed as a thing that it can do.

    Hi there love the channel! I live out in sunny CA in the USA. I went out to the junkyard and saw an early l322 in white with the rear passenger side quarter panel cut out! It’s rare to see l322s out here. And so owning one is such a blessing. 08 Range Rover supercharged in stornoway grey

    sad to hear, Ben. Have a 2003 TD6 Vogue and learned a lot with your videos. Good luck with your TDV8.

    Love your channel. I watched your first review of this RR a few weeks back as I have been haggling with the decision of getting one…can’t quite stretch to a TDV8 just yet. I wondered how the old TD6 was doing as your review is a few years old and here it is. Such a shame to see her go but hey you have your TDV8…not jealous 😂. There’s quite a few earlier ones on the market up here in Yorkshire so hopefully within the next week I will find the right one . Keep your fantastic videos coming mate 👍🏼

    I agree. Cut and run. Focus on the tdv8 going forwards 👍👍

    Hi Ben shame about the td6 but still having a Range Rover is a passion keep up the good work and videos coming and would definitely be up for a Ben’s garage event 👍👍

    Ben you are in the Charente, my place is in the Dordogne, not a million kms away! I am coming out Feb next your in my RR empty, so if you would like to think again about replacement sub frames I’d be happy to bring them for you. Incidentally if you want any other RR bits brought out let me know.

      Used to be in the Charente, we have since moved to the Haute Vienne, still not that far away. Thanks for the offer, I'll bear it in mind.

    Sorry to see this. I've just got a TD6 and my first job is to change out the rear subframe to pass MOT. It's a bog job, but hopefully it'll be worth it.

    • @Bensgarage
      @Bensgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to change them both, but the car just wasn’t worth spending the money on, especially as we had the TDV8. A shame really, as that car did us a good turn.

    Basically if you can find a pair of goodish secondhand ones, I could vet them for you, I’m very happy to help! You have until Feb next year to decide!!

      Thanks for that, think the TD6 is no more. All will be revealed in a video.

  • @Bensgarage
    @Bensgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Watching the video back on the tv, you can see pin holes in the subframe.

    Its clearly not easy for you to say that the TD6 days are over I’ve only recently discovered your channel and it’s hard to hear. Like you say you’ve got the TDV8 in all it’s glory! A new project in sight for the channel 😁

    • @Bensgarage
      @Bensgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we always have the TDV8, which hopefully we’ll have for a long time.

    Hi Ben, had to make a similar decision with my first TDV8 in September this year. Thing was so seized up underneath would have cost a fortune to keep it going. Now got a pampered (I believe) 4.4 TDV8 2011 which has a lot more miles but seems really solid underneath. Fingers crossed….

    • @Bensgarage
      @Bensgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our TDV8 is like new underneath, but that is French and the TD6 has spent most of its life on UK roads, so guessing salty roads didn’t do it any favours.

    Plus the crank in the tdv6 is not the strongest crank in the world, see piston broke latest video to hear his thoughts on why they break.

      This one isn’t a TDV6, it’s the old BMW in-line six cylinder.

    Tis a bit of a shame as she's been such a good bus for you, but I can see the logic. If it didn't need the gearbox plus a load of other bits doing, I'd say it was worth doing the subframes.
    In reality if you do the subframes you'll end up needing to buy a full set of bushes front and rear which could be £500+ on its own.

    • @Bensgarage
      @Bensgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a lot of work to swap out the Subframes, to then have the Torque Convertor to deal with. Gearbox is still working ok at the moment, but likely to bite the dust at any point. So I think it's best to move it on. Would have kept it for using off road on our land, but I still have to insure it, more dead money.

    I think the resr subframe is same in v8s and all way upto 2013 ...

    Hi,,how much is the Road tax pr year for a tdv8 in france?

    • @Bensgarage
      @Bensgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No road tax in France, you pay a one off fee when you register it, and that goes on age of vehicle as well as power and co2 emissions. The older it gets the cheaper it gets. There was an annual co2 charge of €160, but they have scrapped that now.
