    I can't believe how fast you can unload your entire truck! I used to deliver to a very small COOP and it was painfully slow. Thanks again for sharing!

    I enjoy your videos! I took 2 years of Ag-Business at our local Community College in Iowa and got my A.A.S. degree and for a time, I worked for a few large-scale custom farmers like you and worked a few seasons performing all stages of crop production. I also took courses on Animal Feed and Nutrition - but all my work was crops. After that, 8 years as a heavy equipment operator, then 13 years owning my own lawn care and snow removal business - then 6 years selling Sea Ray sport cruisers and yachts in Florida before I made enough to say "I'm DONE!" and now just enjoy working from home and watching guys like you! lol Thanks for the awesome vids!

    Amazing to see the efficiency of modern agriculture. It boggles my mind to think of the investment one has in an operation of this size. We've came a LONG way in just the last 15-20 years or so. Innovation and technology has had an awesome effect on modern agriculture. Thanks so much for sharing these videos with us. So informative to see how advanced things have become :)

    I was raised on a dairy farm in Colorado milking 100 cows twice a day. We grew all of our feed with the exception of the grain we fed the cows while we milked them.
    I am not a fan of ethanel. It has less energy (BTU) than gasoline, which means less MPG and it costs more than gasoline. It is very harmful to two cycle engines. I had to replace my fuel hoses on my weedeater last week. I know its good for the farmers $$$, but we are the ones paying for that crap fuel that is mandated by the government.

    • @leddielive
      @leddielive 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Surely ethanol is only a small percentage of the gasoline, approximately 5% I believe, it replaces Lead which was extremely toxic and harmful to everyone. Lead was only needed to aid valve seating in an engine, Ethanol is a much better option, just drain your fuel tank /carburettor if you're not going to use that piece of equipment for long periods and everything will be fine.

    Foreign material always gets me. Have you ever had it independently tested? Years ago, I used an old Allis Chalmers pull type that did such a good job of cleaning it had a weed seed bag it collected material in. When I told the guy at the elevator, he hand pulled a sample and gave me a 0% FM! I know if they could develop a combine in the 40's that could clean grain that well, the combines today have to be at least as good?

      Thank you! We visually load the truck. We have a scale on our grain cart so we can get the loads nearly perfect from the fields but as far as loading from the bins we just do it visually.

    I've done something similar with a colton?loudest thing I've been around. Moving plastic materials. Like a massive shop vac. From rail cars into silos. Interesting at first. Then it just becomes work. A small mistake is a big expensive one. Mixing raw plastic materials that aren't supposed to be precision mixed is a big mistake. 😄

    Curious, are you draining your aquifer up there as fast as we are here in kansas? Not long ago, once you got west of Hays there were no irrigated crops to be seen. Now there are center pivots all the way to Denver. Wells will be running dry soon, sad. Ethanol has its unintended consequences.

    MN Farmer, you have a better setup than one of our local CO'OP's. AG Producers takes in more than 50 million bushels in the Texas Panhandle. My son and I grow, irrigate; we then harvest 25 thousand bu. per day with help of two seasonal truck drivers, so we let the Co' op do the drying, storing and finding buyers. Our Neighbor grows several million bushels per year like you do but works his ass off.

    How much does the government subsidize the ethanol operations? It lowers the quality of our gasoline and helps ruin small engines. I think the corn can be put to a better use frankly. Nothing personal; you're in business to make money of course.

    • @MillennialFarmer
      @MillennialFarmer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Dixon Peer There have been ZERO ethanol subsidies for several years now. This went away a long time ago. As opposed to the oil industry, who accepts TONS of government money. Also, 70% of the value of the corn still remains after it is processed for ethanol.

    • @MillennialFarmer
      @MillennialFarmer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Dixon Peer Also, oil companies are able to blend ethanol with lower-grade gasoline and still.meet octane requirements. I will argue that it's the poor oil that causes gas problems, not the actual ethanol. Alcohol attracts water, yes, bit a small amount of maintenance will help that. We have run ethanol in EVERY engine we have for many years and not seen an single issue from it.

    • @vdpeer
      @vdpeer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No arguement, but I ask you: the government requires ethanol content in all road fuel gasoline I believe. Perhaps the outright subsidies are gone, but that requirement is a biggie. It seems to show the outsized strength of the farm lobby relative to the interests of the "rest of us". Here is a copy from a Google inquiry about ethanol:
      "Pure gas gives better mileage than E10, and much better than E85, simply because gasoline has higher free energy than ethanol. The free energy of gasoline is 34.2 MJ per liter. ... Mileage will be reduced even more if your engine doesn't run as well on E10, which is often the case with older vehicles.

    • @MillennialFarmer
      @MillennialFarmer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Dixon Peer Shouldn't the interest to the "rest of us" include things like energy security and renewable energy? You can't disagree with that, do you? Yes, gasoline is more efficient in an engine than ethanol, but gasoline is also more expensive per gallon, and much more harmful for the environment. You never hear of any beach being closed due to an ethanol spill. And emissions are cleaned up considerably when ethanol is added.

    • @vdpeer
      @vdpeer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you put ethanol in the tractors? Just kidding.
