Bob Earnshaw It’s the tabs I use just dissolve 2 in a bit of water and you don’t have to do the flushing out . Each tab does 25lt and a packet take no space. Works for us but I always say is if you are happy with a system stick with it.
Great walk through on an important part of RVing. Bob sort of off topic, when I was in Scotland I couldn't help but notice the roads are Skinny!!! We had rented a Metro Mini and even then it required a watch on the horizon. I drive or drove in Northern British Columbia for many years out in the middle of nowhere. I drove in every road and weather conditions known to man and some that Mother Nature created just for me! So I say with respect Bob, driving a motorhome on these roads takes a steady hand and s good judge of changing situations. If I was ever to come again I would rent a motorhome not go bed and breakfast although I met some fabulous people when we did go.
The Scottish Highlands roads can be narrow and sometimes single way, it's generally OK if you take it carefully. They were made many hundreds of years ago!
Thank you Bob, we had no idea what we should do concerning cleaning the water tank, thankfully we have followed your excellent advice and are now ready to head out on our next adventure.
I use both. The Puriclean is used in Spring and in Autumn before the van is stored. In between I use the Aquasol as a water treatment to keep the water 'sweet' in the tank everytime we fill up. Never had any problems with drinking the water.
Hi Bob, when rinsing I simply get a hose with a spray attachment, put my arm in the tank and spray the water all around. It's quicker and saves time and water. As for the Puriclean, I think it's rubbish. It smells, it foams, it doesn't fully dissolve and doesn't clean properly. I used it last weekend and the water still tastes moldy. At least Milton cleans just don't turn the hot taps on. Great video. Thanks
I didn't use Puriclean I used PuriSol, no foaming and much easier to use. Good idea on the hose pipe. Milton is not recommended where you have stainless steel boilers like in the Alde system as it can attack the stainless steel.
Yey, not long to go We usually use site facilities, actually never used the shower. But I've followed your previous vids on this, and all good. Keep washing those hands ..... And tanks
@@BobEarnshawMoHo too right, still locked down in Storage but hope to be set free at end of April now and can get the van ready to go. It has been a long winter
Hi Bob. Correct me if I'm wrong. I understood the Puriclean to be a tank cleaner and the Aqua Sol to be a water purifier thus making it safe to drink straight from the tap. The video shows you using the Aqua Sol as a cleaner. Am I missing something ?
Great and hugely informative video Bob, many thanks. I was about to pay £100 for someone else to do this, but you have given me the confidence to do my own now, 👍👍👍..
Thanks for taking the time to walk through the process. Silly question from a new MoHo owner.... do you only treat the system every six months as you suggested or do you add anything to the system each time you travel? Hoping the former!
No, Puriclean deals with alge, biofilm and such like in Fresh Water Tanks. The waste tank contains fatty deposits and food debris, you need a waste tank cleaner from the likes of Fenwicks.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Thanks Bob. A more thorough reading of the manual tells me that it is indeed recommended that you drain the heating system as well. I hate reading manuals.
hi bob, what is the difference between Puri sol and aqua sol, can the aqua sol be used and run through the sytem whilst in use or does the tank have to be cleaned as to your video
Puri Sol is a cleaning solution, and Aqua Sol us a solution you put in your drinking water to help keep in fresh if you are leaving it for a little time.
Hi just bought my first motorhome, legionnaires is worrying me a but. Do you dose your fresh water as your using it. Ive seen other videos where they add steriliser as their filling the tank
I clean the fresh water tank and pipes with PuriSol from Clean Tabs and empty the water after each trip. Legionnaires is more likely to occur if water is left in pipes and shower heads for weeks. You can add AquaSol to a tank in use if you are concerned th-cam.com/video/T_0PMlweubE/w-d-xo.html
Doesn’t the HEO solutions cap have a release valve so you can’t overfill the tank ?, I seem to remember it comes with other parts, depending on wether you have an overflow or not 🤔
Went to buy some Purisol after watching this and double checked the description to make sure I was getting the right one and it says do not use in drinking water. Does that mean once it’s been flushed through it’s good to go just don’t drink the water with solution in it ? Or do I need to look for something else
Yes, Purisol isn't to be left in the drinking water, it's a cleaning agent and the tank should be flushed out with clean water before drinking from the tank. They also do AquaSol which can be put and left in the water tank to keep it fresh.
Hi Bob, daft question from a newbie motorhomer in my first year. I bought some Purisol for my fresh water tank as I remembered it from this channel and on the bottle it says do not use in drinking water. I’m 99% sure they mean don’t drink the water whilst the product is in there but I assume subsequently water in the tank is still drinkable?! IE it’s not just for a freshwater tank you only use for washing, cooking etc. where the water isn’t actually drunk from the taps direct. I’m sure that’s the case but it made me think! Thanks as ever for all the useful content. It inspired me to buy the motorhome in the first place!
Hi Bob - it says leave for 2 to 12 hours - would it hurt to leave it longer as I’d have to do it at a storage site and plan to put it in one day and go the next to flush it out - so might be more than 12 hours by the time I get back to the van
I'm planning to pull my Auto-Sleepers camper van out of winter storage for the first time, and clean the fresh and waste water tanks for the first time. Seems like it will use up a fair bit of water. Is it OK to use the water loaded with Puriclean (or just the rinsing water) with a waste tank cleaner added to also clean out the waste tank on the way out? (Of course, waste tank cleaner not added to fresh water tank.)
I can't see why not, but there are dedicated waste tank cleaners for dealing with the fatty grime in waste tanks, which may work better. Like this one th-cam.com/video/KpR3IhF3g88/w-d-xo.html
Good video... but...you need to clean the whole system. I connect up the hose (food grade) pour cleaning liquid in hose and then fill up the tank with mains water. Then same as you showed.
I couldn't pour liquid into my hose because it's a lay flat hose, if I could pump in some solution, in maybe. Good idea though. Maybe when I clean the Aquaroll, I will do that.

I didn't really record a conclusion did I? Prefer the PuriSol over the Puriclean, but there are Puriclean tabs now, which I haven't tried.

hi if you were cleaning water on caravan would you have to remove the in line water filter thank s
Yes if you have a filter you need to remove it.
Thanks for the video Bob. We have our Puriclean and Aquasol all ready to flush through before our first trip away. 👍🏻
Another helpful video Bob . I feel like a kid at Christmas lol . We just can’t wait to get out there . 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Reminded me to sort my water systems out next as we are off to a CL in Wales for a few days on the 16th July. Terry

Thanks prefer the PuriSol, less mess.
Thanks for the video Bob. I think that's just answered my question with the Purisol.
👍
Thanks for the question!
Thanks, Bob. Really useful. We've just ordered some Purisol.
Thanks Bob, so which one do you recommend.
I would go with Purisol just for less mess.

Another great educational vid from The Professor of Motorhomes.

You can add a little Aquasol to the tank if you are not using it for a while, or just drain it out between trips.
Bob Earnshaw thanks Bob. 🙏
Great video, why oh why is my fresh water tank right under the bed. Why could it not be in a trap door in the van. 😅😅😅😅
Would you not get a 2 for 1 if you drained the first batch fully into the Waste tank Bob? The waste would have a clean through also would it not?
No, Puriclean deals with alge, biofilm and such like in Fresh Water Tanks. The waste tank contains fatty deposits and food debris, you need a waste tank cleaner from the likes of Fenwicks.
Thanks Bob
Hi Bob
My Elddis Autoquest manual makes no mention of draining the heating system during the purification process. How important is this step?
I just think that if you want to clean the whole system, then it's best to drain and sanitise the boiler as well.

Ours is for tanks with an overflow. Believe there is a version for without.

Don't drink the solution and flush it out afterwards it is safe to drink from after that.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo thanks Bob that’s what I thought. Have flushed it all through so should be ok for next time.
Bob, would it be wise to run the taps to fill and clean the waste tank and then drain that tank after 2 - 12 hrs?
I used Fenwick's Waste Tank Cleaner in a previous video, but don't see that it would do any harm to leave the PuriSol in the waste tank for a while.
Great video 😄👍🏻❤️
could you just use soda crystals?
I prefer to use stuff designed for the job.
Is it wise to add it to Aquaroll and Wastemaster to give them a clean too?.Guy.
Yes, I will do that, maybe a follow up video. I ran out of time.
Can you do all that via a app on your phone too?
Funnily enough, I can't empty the tank on the app!

It was from the Hitchman Aquaroll mains water kit.
Bob, so what was your final verdict? Was Purisol more or less fuss compared to Puriclean? Will you be switching over to it?
Yes, I didn't really record a conclusion did I? Prefer the PuriSol over the Puriclean, but there are Puriclean tabs now, which I haven't tried.
I use puroclean tables I don’t but you can drink it so I put some in with about 40lts of water pump it throw everything before driving home
You can get puriclean tablets much easier to use..
That sounds a good idea. Less mess.
I seem to remember that when you used the powder last time you did fall over after you had a drink of water from the tank.

That the water tank is clean and safe to drink from.
