It's not even on the same caliber. Red dead redemption just had an overall better ambience and open world experience. RDR2 fails in that category for me.
@SuSJoJ - I can't speak for anyone else, but that's not at all what I have been saying... I am fully aware that RDR2 is superior to the first game in virtually every way. I just liked the music in the first one better... RDR2 had really great music, and in fact I liked the actual songs they used a little better... But, the ambience in RDR1 is unrivaled in my opinion, they just had such a perfect mix of wildlife sounds, cowboy music, it just set so much it a tone, spend five minutes in RDR's New Austin and you immediately know exactly what kind of game it's trying to be... RDR2's was just a bit more forgettable. Also, not that I disagree, but having more content _literally_ doesn't necessarily make a game better... Just look at Mafia 1, 2 and 3... The third game had a bigger map, more guns, better animations and sound design and way more side activities and optional objectives... Yet, Mafia fans refuse to acknowledge it as a legitimate successor, because it was genuinely an awful game despite it's technical merits. Not saying RDR2 is the Mafia 3 of Rockstar, but having _more_ content doesn't make a game _better_

I wish I could listen to this music playing RDR2. I can't play this TH-cam video, because then the birds and crickets get mixed up with the ambient noise in the game.
I just hate how RDR2 didn't have those kind of tracks. I love RDR2, but once you finised the story, John doesn't randomly sings when riding slowly like Arthur does and there is just a random sountrack, kinda relaxing in Cumberlan Forest or the Grizzlies but that's pretty much it, when the first game had a much more rememberable wilderness track, made you feel in the Western, not just in the wilderness in any time period, that's where RDR2 failed in my opinion, they created a world, not recreated a time period, kinda weird when RDR2 is set only a few years after the old west but RDR1 has cars and such and feels more like a western than RDR2. Anyway, both great games, exept that RDR2 is more story based than Wilderness exploration and breathing towns like RDR1 was.
Miss this music in the background just exploring around Red Dead 1's online mode and stuff, doing random dumb stuff like trying to get the coach's to float in the water so you'd have a boat and doing hideouts and playing undead overrun! Such a good time!
I think in the next game, the world should be bigger and the map doesn't show where you are. You have to read the map to get your bearing. Also eat animals to survive.
I remember all those times when I got mad at something outside of RDR1, I wound pop it on and play just to throw dynamite at uncle to calm myself, good times. I even thought that the farm missions were never ending, boy was I wrong. RIP
There's nothing out here for a hundred miles in each direction and that's the way I like it.... if I need to go to town for this and that I have several towns and cities to go to.... these days everytime I go to town it's different and everything is changing buildings and houses with electricity, gas, indoor bathrooms, fans that run on electricity, motorized vehicles, and many other things that will be populating the world as we of this century will know it, I'm way out here with only a few scattered neighbors and they are all leaving their old styled homes for the newer ones that are being built and are leaving these old ones in the past and I have no plans of leaving I'll stay here as long as I can in this ole shack until I can't it's not like I don't have any family I have a couple of kids grown up by now,had a sister haven't heard from in years, an ex wife somewhere and some other relatives but got out of touch with them while living in this rather remote area but we'll see.... this ole shack is a small kitchen and a bedroom,an outhouse out back, an occasional rainstorm,a little cold weather but not that bad and it does get a little hot but there is a lake near here where I can go to cool off in, the nights are better a little cooler but tolerable, I must be imagining things because I think I just saw a big bird fly by and it had what appears to be people inside, that is odd cause I haven't had a drink of liquor in 20 years but I have a feeling that time is changing very quickly and I pray that the old west will still survive way out here, well gotta go inside after seeing what I just saw, good night, take care, stay safe, stay warm and dry and most importantly GOD BLESS and Thanks.

It feels like something is trying to start, like it was there but just dies. It brings a feeling that I can’t describe that pairs perfectly with the theme of the dying west.
6:35 i can imagine john looking at the moon on top of a mountain. I can also imagine jack doing the same thing but only on a sunset

Somebody upload this to Spotify 😭😭
I've listened to this so many times I treat this as a piece of music.
This is the best game ever
I have finally found it..... Thankyou good sir Vercetti :), Uploaded just 2 days after my birthday of 2013,
I have been searching literally since release of the game specifically guitar chords @ 6:38, 6:45 , 6:59, 7:14 etc
absolutely love the work by the team put together at Rockstar San-Diego, Leeds and North.
And to think practically if not 100 percent of all the OST Soundtrack was made from scratch.

25:00 minutes is just perfect.
I'd like to personally send my thanks partner. Been looking for this part and stumbled across your timestamp. Cheers friend 🍻
@@SmokeyGames420 Cheers, mate!
Ive been sleeping to this ambience for 2 months now. Nostalgia helps me for once
Very relaxing to listen to the ambience of this game without the music playing.
I'm glad it's not just me that loved this game so much! RDR2 is great, though I haven't got to New Austin yet, but the atmosphere is just *different*. It's still great of course, but it could never beat what we had before...
Unfortunately
I think “atmosphere”is not the problem. I don’t know how old were you when you played the rdr 1 but I was 12 and I was 21 when I played the rdr2. The problem is that we grew up. So it feels different now.
@@cyjr2446 damn bro you're right I guess. I was about the same age (13/14) and I suppose I miss that age. People who played rdr2 as 12-14 yos will feel the same in 10 years time too...
Red Dead Redemption had the best soundtrack. So immersive.
25:00 ah I remember them ol dusty trails when this part played
I still come back to this video pretty damn regularly. I haven't had an xbox in a long time, so it's nice to just sit and listen to a game I miss so much. I ain't gonna be happy till rockstar adds old Mexico to RDR2.
guess you'll never be happy
This is exactly what I need to relax and while playing rdr2 right now lol. Even thinking about this game puts a smile on my face as to how much of a masterpiece it was. Also was my introduction to the western game genre and my god what a game it was
we feel that nostalgia hit , the good old time, we can only remember 😌😌
the good old time when u was with ur friends in online on ur ps3, u was playing, it was funny, the good past
Astonishing music from a unique, unrepeteable game. Respect for Rockstar.
I love the part that goes
*BOOM*

Yeah why doesnt anyone talk about that, anyone know the time stamp

I remember playing Red Dead Redemption back in the day and when I listen to the sound tracks I get goosebumps
The music has and will always be my favorite.. so spine tingling ever since I was 9 playing this damn game.
Same dude. Undead Nightmare was such a treat too. Makes me wish Rockstar cared about RDR2 as much as they did with this one.
@@justbliss909 Oh yes out of all zombies games that one some how managed to scare me lmao and yeah I wish they'd care for rdr2 too because rdr1 story and multiplayer was so fun.
@@warningerrorox2oo1ooo65 Wooow me too bro. As a kid, I was super scared to play that game. Honestly, pretty much the entire atmosphere of RDR1 is just better. It’s a REAL western game and it genuinely feels like it. I’m glad to see I can relate to someone on this. There’s way too many people claiming that RDR2 is a masterpiece. I’m not disregarding the good things the 2nd one did, but oooh man the 1st one is just something special.
@@justbliss909 Yeah, don't get me wrong the story of rdr2 and just the game overall yeah its a great game but it'll never compare to rdr1. Rdr1 was definitely something special and I knew from day one rdr2 would never compare no matter how good the graphics or game was.
@@warningerrorox2oo1ooo65 damn right, amigo. it’s almost saddening that they haven’t released Undead Nightmare 2 yet. At least I’ve got an INKLING of assurance that they’re doing it. I remember back in an on-stage interview with the cast of RDR2, someone asked Roger Clark if they were gonna be doing UN2 and naturally he gave a vague “rockstar answer”. The answer was so vague that one can almost safely assume they’re working on it. It may be a couple years from now, but I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait.
35:04 is perfect for when your riding the trails of New Austin
Something about this soundtrack hit different when you were out in the desert near Armadillo at night on a full moon. Brings back so much nostalgia. This game was my life in 2012 lol
I really wanna go back to this time of my life when i was growing up , i was a 19 years old who was love every single game he play , i loved RDR Amongst all the games i had , I remember when i get to home from school and wasn’t even changing my clothes and immediately jump on my playstation and mommy yell at me that the lunch is ready and i keep saying ok im coming while iam wandering in that beautiful world of RDR , but every thing has to changed hasn’t it ? My mommy passed away a while ago and im just grown man who facing a lot of troubles nowadays and trying to handle them as far as he could , man i wish things get better im really tired of life😣
Keep your head up friend. You have friends and family who love you. You'll always have this game for those moments, and a space to spend in. I did the same when I was younger, and still do now.
Sorry for your loss!
I'm hoping they add this into rdr 2 I miss all the old music
if you guys ever go out to the mountains or out in desert play this and just take in the scenery
Playing RDR2 as John in New Austin with this. Just WOAH. Especially if you’re wearing his original outfit from 1 😎👏🏻
Still here listening to this ambient masterpiece.
I'm from Utah and absolutely love the soundtrack and background of this game. I feel at home.
Edit: I'm absolutely in love with our desert. I can't get enough when I go out and explore.
Who heard that in 2018 with nostalgy ?
My body is ready for RDR2!! It will be the best game of the generation!
so what ya think now 2 years later?
@@mostafaelsofy2254 Pretty satisfied, it´s an awesome game, top 10 best game of the generation imo. I´m still playing it, with the new consoles the game looks fantastic. Cheers
@@chekolin007 thanks for answering
37:50 just sums up the entire rdr story for me, the bells and few piano notes tell the brutal and hopeless stories of Arthur, John and Jack
I never played rdr1 but played rdr2... I love rdr2 soundtracks but it doesnt bring that western vibe, the alone in the dessert but peaceful vibe. I just discovered this and I love it. I wish they would remaster rdr1 lol
This game was amazing for feeling like the wild west. The music really was fantastic
This Videogame is my childhood so the soundtrack gives me hella nostalgia
To be honest... I loved RDR2, I really did. But it never reached the atmosphere and ambient RDR1 had.
For that reason I still love RDR1 more then RDR2.
Really cool how this plays when you first play as John.
I feel some type of way right now ... ouf
38:27 that reverse bell sound is just 👌
I wish I could listen to this music playing RDR2. I can't play this TH-cam video, because then the birds and crickets get mixed up with the ambient noise in the game.
16:57 truly masterpiece. Church in the night give me goosebumps
What a game this was, is and will be. 2010 was a great year for videogames.
35:10, those guitars play when you take back a dying eagle flies to wapiti
Thank you for helping me find this.
One of best games of the generation.
I think in the next game, the world should be bigger and the map doesn't show where you are. You have to read the map to get your bearing. Also eat animals to survive.
Yeah, it should definitely be more immersive!
Yep, the idea you suggest could be pretty good
I think there's an option to turn off the UI.
Thats the gayest idea i ever hear wtf is wrong with u
You got your wish
Memories...
Beautiful Game.
this is the day, i don’t care how much it costs i am buying the first red dead again and i am going to savor every second of it.
fuck I really got to play this gem again
Rdr2 is coming to pc, someone needs to mod the ambient music from this into the game.
Nostalgia overload
REMINDS ME OF THE OLD TIMES.. NICE LIQUOR AND TOBACCO.. OH YEAH BUDDY.. NICE HORSEBACK AND CATTLE.. OH YEAH!
2020 who with me ?
Beautiful
Id still say this game story and originality wise is superior to RD2
I remember all those times when I got mad at something outside of RDR1, I wound pop it on and play just to throw dynamite at uncle to calm myself, good times. I even thought that the farm missions were never ending, boy was I wrong. RIP
throw dynamite at uncle??💀💀💀💀💀
There's nothing out here for a hundred miles in each direction and that's the way I like it....
if I need to go to town for this and that I have several towns and cities to go to....
these days everytime I go to town it's different and everything is changing buildings and houses
with electricity, gas, indoor bathrooms, fans that run on electricity, motorized vehicles, and many other
things that will be populating the world as we of this century will know it, I'm way out here with only
a few scattered neighbors and they are all leaving their old styled homes for the newer ones that are
being built and are leaving these old ones in the past and I have no plans of leaving I'll stay here as
long as I can in this ole shack until I can't it's not like I don't have any family I have a couple of kids
grown up by now,had a sister haven't heard from in years, an ex wife somewhere and some other relatives
but got out of touch with them while living in this rather remote area but we'll see....
this ole shack is a small kitchen and a bedroom,an outhouse out back, an occasional rainstorm,a little
cold weather but not that bad and it does get a little hot but there is a lake near here where I can go to
cool off in, the nights are better a little cooler but tolerable, I must be imagining things because I think
I just saw a big bird fly by and it had what appears to be people inside, that is odd cause I haven't had a
drink of liquor in 20 years but I have a feeling that time is changing very quickly and I pray that the old west
will still survive way out here, well gotta go inside after seeing what I just saw, good night, take care, stay safe,
stay warm and dry and most importantly GOD BLESS and Thanks.
We were doing a table RPG set in the Wild West and this was PERFECT for it! thanks for capturing the ambiance.
So jealous, I love westerns and also enjoy pen and paper role playing games, but none of my buddies who like tabletops are into the western stuff at all.
Ambient soundtrack: RDR>RDRII
Mission soundtrack: RDR
Happy 10th anniversary! I'll never forget this game.
