    You got calves like a baby elephant! Now I remember where I saw you before, you were pulling a bus by your teeth at the strongest man comp! Hey I'm a Cold Steel junkie so ill never quit that! The Recon Scout takes a massive beating and gives it right back! Storytime. My friend Bill from the hunting club broke his knee falling down the side of a riverbed that we couldn't see because the reeds or whatever, cattails, were over our heads. Man it was a scary fall. His leg snapped the wrong way. so gruesome. We were a mile away from the trucks posting up signs 2 weeks before opening day. No roads in the mountains. He was like no way we're calling a helicopter because it would have been like a $20k bill. He was a big guy too. So I used my Recon to make him a splint for his leg from a branch, cleaned it up nicely and used the orange tape i had and a t shirt to tie him to it. I had to clear out a bunch of brush to get him up the bank and chop saplings for him to grab onto to get up over the edge. We were able to walk him out to the trucks and get him to the hospital. They used to make fun of me for carrying a bowie knife, until that day. 15 of us and I was the only one with a blade longer than 4 inches on me. My friend loved the knife so I gave it to him for his birthday. FAST FORWARD about 3 years his wife caught him talking to another woman, and took the knife and stabbed it through almost every panel on his Land Rover before we could get downstairs to stop her. And just like in the Proof vids, no tip damage! Good times! 😆🗡🖖💜 #22aday

      @@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors Yeah i remember it like yesterday, watching him do cartwheels down a small cliff, then seeing his leg ...do unnatural things...That day was terrible but we learned lessons from it. Dont hunt alone, or go into the woods alone if possible, have serious first aid equipment, have an extricate plan, be in better physical shape, although he had the inner strength to walk out of there, with our help, watch where you're stepping, carry a big knife, small knife, machete, tell someone exactly where you'll be going, what time to expect you back, have long distance radios and phones and one other item, a real gun that can handle bears. I had 3 separate bear encounters that luckily went well but they also could have killed me so i wear a chest rig with 8 rounds of werewolf bullets even when I bowhunt, and every time in the woods. We had a bear going through our garbage a few weeks ago and they get to be 400, 500 pounds. Always carry, even when your making vids brother. Theyre huge, but dead quiet and you dont know they're there until theyre right up on you. Bucks attack too. Those antlers are not just for show. Even the does can kick the hell out of you. Dont believe me? plenty of vids on TH-cam.....So as always Peace and love, stay vigilant, and have a nice day! ✌💙#22aday

The boker fixed blades are a tremendous value and hold together well. the folders, unless you get the german made ones, are pretty much crap. Tree brand Boker was magnificent. Hi there!
    Now, this CS Recon Scout has me in a quandary ! Is it a Large knife or a Camp knife or a belt knife?
    I already own a Trail Master (San Mai III version) and maybe that is what is causing my unease, because it is a true Large knife, and it does Large knife stuff very well indeed.
    So why would one go for the Recon Scout if one wanted a Large knife instead of the Trail Master?
    I noticed you doing feathersticks with the Recon Scout, with about as much success I have with my Trail Master.
    Which is why I wouldn't bother. That is work for a proper bushcraft knife. My option is for the Victorinox Venture Pro knife. It is excellent at those fine, accurate carving, crafting, slicing and cutting jobs around camp.
    However - If I did NOT have a Trail Master, I'd possibly be tempted by the Recon Scout! I might just compromise on those missing two inches (shorter than the TM) and go for it. It won't chop as well of course, but probably well enough, but it would be less unwieldy for some jobs.
    So, yeah, I like it, and if the fit & finish is like my TM, then I give it a thumbs up!
    Go well!

    • @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors
      @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I don't know lol You got to pick what is good for you. I will say this man I think this is the TM's little brother. And if you have a trailmaster I don't see the need for this either I have both and I may do kind of a comparison video. The one thing to bear in mind with the channel brother is I try to show as many knives as I can and give everybody as many different looks as I can. So I've got a lot of stuff that doesn't mean I carry it if that makes sense. I hope you have a phenomenal day and I really appreciate the well thought out comment those are refreshing

    • @dennisleighton2812
      @dennisleighton2812 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors Thanks for that prompt response! Much appreciated. Yeah, well I do try to think things through and relate it to personal experience. I used to make (and sell) knives, including numerous Large knives. I made my own Bushwhacker style knife (see Google) and have used it for 30 years, till I retired it for the Trail Master. With it, I learned a helluva lot about practicality, and this led me to selecting the Trail Master ahead of the Fallkniven Modern Bowie and the Becker BK9. As to your comment about what you carry, I have a similar philosophy. Mine is quite simple: I believe the situation should dictate what one carries, so I invented my own guideline: heavy carry and light carry.
      Heavy carry: this is for a more static environment where weight is not as big an issue. Here I would have the CS Trail Master, the Victorinox Venture Pro Bushcraft knife system, and the Victorinox Hercules multi-tool knife.
      Light carry: here, for a belt knife I'd have the Cold Steel SRK (CPM3V, in sabre grind), and always my faithful V'nox Swiss Champ that I've had for decades! This is for more mobile environments, like hiking or hunting.
      What do you think of this approach?
      Cheers mate!
