Old Hickory has some amazing 1095 steel. Holds a razor sharp edge even after carving and batoning wood. They must have an awesome temper and heat treat. I've been reluctant to buy Cold steel since Lynn sold the company.
I am not to familiar with you and your channel as I just subbed a couple of months so I don’t have a grasp of your sharpening skills. Did the re profiling of the edge cause the snagging issue? Was there any micro chipping?
Did you clean that blade off thoroughly each and every time that you were done chopping before cutting the paper? The 3V looks like it held up quite well. I had a San Mai version I bought when Cold Steel first released them but never used it and traded it off after hearing it wasn't that good. Maybe I should have held onto it. 🤔 Thanks for the great review. 👍 How about a tip test and whitetail antler chop test. 👍 Maybe Cold Steel should make a Recon Scout in 4034. 😉
You should use a working edge, having a razor edge is pointless. I never cut paper in the field, nor shave any part of my body with a knife! Friction warms the blade. You could be hitting dirt in the log! This is over $600 in the UK. Stick to my O1 model!
nice blade!!
that's the legend knife I look forward to seeing in your testing channel.

Very badass, love your channel bro.

1095 is fairly very hard steel so 8t makes sense to break when really beaten. 1050 is also a hard steel but is more pliable so not as likely to break.

My favorite TH-camr!!!!!!! 😀
I noticed you were chopping pretty much in that area of the trouble spot. You really did not use the whole edge.
That’s what I have done in my other test. I was using the “sweet spot” of the blade which the best spot for chopping on any given blade.
@@mathewrculbertson I see ok got it thank you.
