  • Kaguta Joel being a resident of Kasese himself, went on a lengthy investigative journey that affirmed that the residents are exposed to heavy metals as a result of Copper, Aluminium, and Zinc among others that have contaminated the mother water source, River Nyamwamba leading to disastrous diseases such as cancer.

One old native told us during the time of Disaster on 8th May 2020 that Kasese means where water collects and it's highly uninhabitable.
River Nyamwamba from the Rwenzori mountains is contaminated mainly in the open mine field along Kilembe however another worry on river Mobuku without mine fields have similar characters of contamination at some point. We appreciate AIIJ for putting this to light.

Very nice report but also worrying. Hopefully those with power and authority can embark on this ASAP.
But also as a born of Kasese I feel my entire home is rich in “fortunately or unfortunately” more such minerals, Uranium inclusive. You really want evidence, I’m open for contact😉

Kasese citizens need to be compasated by kilembe mines and the government of UGanda, and government should provide good health services and clean water to the people of Kasese

quite urbsard. The general population there is oblivious of what danger they face. most people don't even know what heavy metals are, let alone the possible catastrophic effects. I feel for my people. I would love to help where I can. some day, help will come. remember this. Government is not our friend, at least M7's government. You can't tell me you spent several billions and the problem of flooding keeps recurring every year. They don't really care about us. We are on a time bomb.
