I’m 23, 2020 is the first year I’ve been introduced to radical leftism as a whole, and I have to say finding Boots Riley has been so empowering and informative in the most pure kinds of ways. Bless both of the people.

Bless you too, brother. Have you seen Zeitgeist: Addendum and Zeitgeist: Moving Forward? You might like what you see. Really deconstructs a lot of the societal dogmas and misunderstanding of "human nature"

I just read Harry Haywoods "Black Bolshevik". It was super engaging and is a must read for American Leftists. A quick look online revealed the book was selling for hundreds of dollars so I downloaded the pdf, I'm sure Harry would not have minded. I highly recommend it.

Good conversation. Boots generalized somewhat to not disempower any current movement perhaps, but I agree we have ignored the working class, and instead have been driven on making everything about "spectacle." In many ways, I believe he was alluding to our sound-bark era focus on 'identity politics' as an end in itself, which becomes only a 'spectacle" manifestation when it is compartmentalized (for its own end) and cleaved from class, race, gender, ethnicity, etc. and how these all feed into one another and inform one another, and how when they are divided, create a false sense of 'telos' through the performance as spectacle itself, and we lose sight of the larger struggle we are all going through.

Did he say anything about Bernie Sanders? What's his take?

Toward the end, Boots says: "If you have a movement that can shut down industry, you can make any politician do what you want then to do." And then he goes on the say if you can try to get a politician in who's more aligned with your movement, and that's cool, but believing that politician is the end of the struggle kills the movement itself (for example Obama).

@@FavianTubeX Thanks for lettin' us know. That's disappointing, though. I've paid Bernie almost no damn attention- same as I don't Hillary n Trump n the rest...If I voted I guess it would be the Green Party. Jill Stein n Ajamu Baraka(2016 candidates) are legit- that's why they get no coverage in the mainstream media. Bernie's all up in it like Trump n Hillary n all the other fakery.
