It's supposed to be a ratio of 1:1:1 for soy sauce, shaoxing wine and sesame oil. Please check the website for the full recipe and more tips: www.nyonyacooking.com/recipes/three-cup-chicken
watching this on the 1st day of ramadhan is really a bad bad idea.Cant wait to try and cook this 😋😋 mybe i can subtitute wine with water? love ur recipes btw 😘
+cikgu hayati hmm wine to rasa manis. Ada jugak yg ganti ngan cuka dan jus epal tp bile saya cuba, rasa dia lain. X sah guna wine tu la, cam tu pon sedap jugak! 🤗
Ratios: soy sauce 2 = shaoxing wine 1 and sesame oil 1. Ginger 2: garlic 1. I don't like marinades. I like to add sugar AFTER cooking because you can't burn what isn't there. 😄
Omg! I just made this with sooooo much soy sauce! It’s too salty! 😢 always loved your recipes, but I think the soy sauce amount here was somehow mistaken.
Oh no. Did you use 50ml soy sauce? We have quite a few of our community who tested the recipe and have posted food snaps: www.nyonyacooking.com/recipes/three-cup-chicken~HyMSOwiDG5Wm There weren’t any complaints. Perhaps it’s the type of soy sauce? - Admin
Actually in Taiwan, the home grown basil is not same cultivar as Thai basil, but the fragrance and flavor are so close that most probably cannot distinguish. The flavor of sweet basil is quite different. For this dish I prefer Taiwan or Thai varieties. But for those who have never tried the authentic one, sweet basil should be good enough.
I did but somehow it was just too salty for me. Will try this dish again and let you know how my second attempt goes. Thanks for your yummy and simple recipes.
Donna Low that's the thing..the amount stated on the video is not right. It should be only 50ml 😅 so sorry. It's better to refer to the website if you are going to try it again. Really sorry for the mistake...

Hello Nyonya Cooking, I love your video and want to try this recipe. Three cup of chicken...Can I use honey if I have no maltose? Thank you so much...
Yes Wati :) Honey works fine or agave nectar. Otherwise, just sugar will do too.
had wanted to confirm the amount for the soya sauce is it 150gram or 50ml??
Can i substitue maltose with honey?
I'd also like to know :)
Fanny Maxi of course you can
Of course :) Or just use sugar. Just adjust the sweetness accordingly and you just need to let the sugar thicken the gravy.
111bonus thankyou!!
Nyonya Cooking great, thankyou!!!
is it light or dark soy sauce that u used?
hey , what do I do if i don't have maltose ? can I put more sugar instead?
It's better to substitute with another invert sugar - like maybe corn syrup, agave nectar, honey, or golden syrup.
I haven't heard of maltose syrup being used in a dish before. This is going to be interesting o.o
Here is another recipe which uses maltose ;) www.nyonyacooking.com/marmite-chicken/
Thank you !
nice
Thanks!!
If I can't find Basil can I skip it?
I tried this recipe once without Basil... and it seems to be missing it's key ingredient. Thai Basil works best for this recipe. Cheers! :)
Come Up for Air It does taste kinda weird without the Basil.
sis ... i kan muslim .. yang shaoxing wine tu bleh tukar pada cuka tak?
+cikgu hayati hmm wine to rasa manis. Ada jugak yg ganti ngan cuka dan jus epal tp bile saya cuba, rasa dia lain. X sah guna wine tu la, cam tu pon sedap jugak! 🤗
Oo kalau wine tu rasa dia ialah Manis... Letak ler kicap Manis sket kekekek habih citer ... Nak jugakkk letak hehehe degil
+cikgu hayati degil la cikgu nih. Hahhaa!! Kalau campur kicap manis, boleh jugak. Tp jgn sampai manis sgt sbb dah ada gula dan maltose/madu
Hahaha yalah
I see my mapo tofu picture at the end! xD
nice!
Thanks!

Hehe, that's possible too. And It's suppose to be 1:1:1 for wine, sesame oil and soy sauce. Made an error there.
Omg! I just made this with sooooo much soy sauce! It’s too salty! 😢 always loved your recipes, but I think the soy sauce amount here was somehow mistaken.

I didn't know Basil was used in Chinese cooking!
To be exact, thai basil is used but I used sweet basil ;)
Actually in Taiwan, the home grown basil is not same cultivar as Thai basil, but the fragrance and flavor are so close that most probably cannot distinguish. The flavor of sweet basil is quite different. For this dish I prefer Taiwan or Thai varieties. But for those who have never tried the authentic one, sweet basil should be good enough.
I tried the recipe today and find the dish very salty. Think the soy sauce is a little too much but otherwise the dish is yummy.
Donna Low did you follow the amount on the vid? 😓 cause that was a mistake ☹️
The quantity of soya sauce is wrong! Do you know how much is 150g or 150ml of soya sauce? It's too much!!
Shark Guard as mentioned in the pinned comment, there is a mistake. Please refer to the full recipe on www.nyonyacooking.com/recipes/three-cup-chicken
Shes hot.
