I learned a lot from Sammy Lloyd (makecents on TH-cam) about using the DAT Pro board to find loads AND to see what the loads have been paying over the previous 15 days. It's another tool you can use to make sure your counteroffer is in due bounds. HINT: Brokers use the DAT Pro board too..!! Once they see you know what you are talking about, they often become easier to work with. And while I'm talking about other truckers on TH-cam, Justin at JustTruckin has a few videos that deal with getting your authority (which you have already done) and how to survive your DOT compliance audit (which you may not have yet done). I subscribed (#394) because I like your honesty and approach to your business. I would bet that most, if not all, of the nay-sayers don't own a truck and are lacking the experience to make an informed comment. Stay safe out there. South Carolina here.
Just saw this video and flashed back to the early 1970s going down north bound Grapevine driving a 1952 Freightliner (no jakes back then) with a set of double flatbeds loaded with steel beams. Smoked the brakes, picking up speed and managed to get around the last curve and threw it in neutral and flew down that hill. Gotta keep driving so the grease and wheels don't flame up and thankful for a valuable lesson about checking and adjusting brakes and other equipment. Thanks for the memories. Best wishes, Jon

First time off a particular grade....start off the top slowly...not too fast, then use your Jake brake to keep you at the speed you need. The more familiar you get with the different hills and grades, you'll have a better idea of what to expect on the way down and you'll set yourself up accordingly.
