Hey Steve, I just finished watching all of the repair videos on your Bush Hog 305. I don't know if you realize you have one of the best and heavy duty models produced by Bush Hog. I owned one also about 30 years ago. I used it to cut fields and small trees that were up to 1.5" in diameter, nothing stopped it. The sides are designed to be removed (unbolted) if you are cutting hay. This helps to get the grass out from under the deck so it doesn't get chopped up too fine. Yours is missing the 2 front shoes that keep the front corners from tearing up the ground when you make a turn. I didn't realize that Bush Hog still made the 305/306 5' and 6' mowers. Just guessing I'd say you'd probably have to pay somewhere between 3-5 thousand for one. Bush Hog came out with a cheaper model line called the Squealer series which is now where near the quality of the 305/306 series. even today your Bush Hog 305 is far superior ot any thing you can buy from Tractor Supply, Northern Tool or Rural King.
I could not agree more. You can tell by the shear weight alone what a beast this thing is. The missing shoes make sense. My front edges are curled from digging into the ground on turns. Now that I am running a Ford 5000, I bought a 6 foot cutter. Sadly nowhere near the heft of the old 305.
hi....does anyone know if Steve does any more repairs to the arien tractor....i could only see part1 and part 13....i am looking for a vid on the steering mechanisms for the Arien gt 17....thank you
Sorry, this was just a quick stand alone video. I've had this bush hog for a while so there are videos of me doing a seal replacement, welding the broken stump jumper, and using it with my Ford 1920 tractor, all on my channel. Just search bush hog with my name and you should see some.

@@stevewatr keep your eye open for a 306, it's the 6 foot version.
Should stand on dry plywood before welding on your knees. Sometimes the ground cable falls to the ground when supposedly attached.
