My friend lives in Alnwick and she told me when I was there last week, that you can buy a parking meter at any shop for £1 and you can park for free up to 3 hours at any car park. You keep the parking meter and use it multiple times. You don’t have to pay anymore. Xx
We skipped the oven and hob in our van. Just use a little gas stove that runs on the small bottles. Lasts for ages and packs away nice and neat. We even cook toast on it with a little gas stove toaster. Very cheap to run. Use a small air fryer as well. Lots of clear bench top for whatever and an extra cupboard instead of an oven which fits all the appliances in.
I found it was all about just minimising in the van and storage. We each had one cupboard and kept our stuff in that. I also just used washing up liquid and hot water to clean while we were away. When we got home I’d clean it thoroughly. Saved carrying extra products. When you get into a routine you’ll find it more relaxing. I also used the laundrette runs to have an hour to myself. I’d take a book.😅. It can be challenging, but I loved it.😊
I’ve got some lovely memories of both Alnwick Gardens and Castle, and the pub The Shepherd and Shepherdess ! Fantastic to see you both up in the North East, definitely a trip to Cragside next time for you both 😊
Another great vlog! You’ll get used to the small space much more in the summer when you relax outside etc. winter camping is always more restricted. Absolutely love these van life vlogs 😀
Thank you guys. I loved seeing Anwick town and the castle again. Although we are Scottish my Mum, in her later years, moved down to Morpeth to be near her brother. Anwick was a favourite day out.last time I was there the formal gardens were under construction. Hope you manage to get back up to Northumberland as it is a beautiful county. I am loving your road map with the little car. Shame about the bad weather following you. I think that makes it more challenging. We used to camp a lot and rainy days were always a challenge. Early days yet. You will soon get used to the organization required in a small space
It was lovely to see the two of you in our neck of the woods - The Northeast. We would have been in Vegas when you were here but it would have been great to have seen you. We're the two that send you the Christmas Card with The Tyne Bridge on. (Michael and Jason.)
Really good one, guys. I like seeing the movie locations. I really like the little map to show where you are going! Very clever. Looking forward to the next one.
Hi guys, love the van life video's. Could you install an outside camera to your van. That way you could see what is going on around the van especially at night time. Nick being concerned about who is parking close by etc is prob right to be anxious, I would prob be as well. Just a thought, take care.
I’ve always enjoyed the vlogs where you visit different parts of the UK, and this seems to be a part of the country, you have not shown before, at least as far as I recall. It’s too bad you had to deal with so much rain, but you still managed to show us a lot of interesting places.
My family and I visited Alnwick castle as a shore excursion when the Disney Magic paid a call on Newcastle-upon-Tyne iin June 2016. We had a lot of fun riding broomstick, making wands, and touring the castle and the forbidden garden. Our next ports of call was Kirkwall in the Orkneys, Iceland, Norway and Denmark. We had a great sailing!
I put temporary stickers on cabinets and drawers until I memorized where everything went. Once it becomes common and you don't have to think about where everything goes, then you can remove the stickers.
When we went to Alnwick Castle last June we parked in a public car park just up the road from the town entrance we paid for a parking permit that you can use in all council run car parks in Northumberland.
Looks fun at Alnwick. Can I ask you a favour please remember to warn about flashing strobe lights . My husband and both daughters have epilepsy. And are light sensitive. They enjoy your vlogs also . Hope you don't mind me bringing it up . Thanks 😊
Was at Alnwick castle last year and went in side and saw where they filmed Harry Potter glad you enjoyed being inside did you go in to the gift shop , and there got a nice restaurant inside the castle .
Great vlog the weather has just been against you. These places will be worth another visit in the better weather but the park ups will be busier especially the one that locks you in at night
Looks lovely at Alnwick, I'd have to shut my eyes going under that bridge though. Cake looked lovely......moist 🙈not again 😂 love the van vlogs and film locations xx love to you both as always ❤
Great vlog! You guys really should watch Robin hood Prince of thieves. Alan Rickman is great in it, I recently was told to watch the director cut and it's even better as they cut lots of his scenes. I laugh at him being so stressed throughout the film😂
Why don’t you use double sided Velcro strips on the window sill for your little planter pots in the camper van? That way they can stay put and you don’t have to keep putting them away?
In the summer the do broom stick schooling on the grass, well they use too, Rowan Atkinson is from Consett in Durham, & studied at Newcastle University ,
Loved the vlog we knew which pub you were near when you said where you parked. Been to that pub many times. Looking forward to beamish my dad knew Frank Atkinson who started the museum and he used to drink with him. You’ll see him at the start of the museum.
I think you are adapting and it is going to take time which will come the more you use it. Don’t think I’d feel safe using road side parking though, I’d recommend using paid facilities whilst it’s all new and use facilities, get rid of waste water etc…..and please try to chillax ❤
Oh dear... After all the effort, the excitement, after a few days, one of you is not feeling it. Confined space, always together...? Classic episode which went from Leigh so excited to couldn't wait to get out! Bring on Europe trip. I'm sure it'll be fine. A big investment, lots of hard work Nick, a cosy , cuddly, experience Leigh... But can you handle reality? I hope so and love you both so hope it works. Love every episode. Thanks for sharing since I found you in 2019.
Love watching you both,...we have a motorhome, go too southcoast mainly, but doing the NC500 in september!! Goodluck and enjoy your camping! We love it!! Maybe see you anout Xxxx
Enjoying the vlogs but personally I just keep thinking that van life seems like such a lot of faffing about 😂. I’d be too lazy to be continuously worrying about water, gas, battery usage, dismantling beds etc. I’m sure that seasoned van lifers have their routines down to a fine art though, and it’s just about getting used to it 😊. I’ll be sticking with just plonking my stuff down in an Airb&b and going merrily on my way 🤣.
You may prefer staying at campsites, see more people that way, plus you can get ready in their showers in the morning. You need to joing the camping and caravan club.
Alnwick castle is the same as Beamish on the entry ticket go back within the year You guys sadly just picked the wrong days to come to the north east The bakery & farm stalls in town of Beamish is lush specially the jams & chutney 👌👌👌
When creating the van you made it accessible for a 3rd smaller person (I.e niece) since trialling it out, how do you think that will work with the space available etc?
Seriously guys .... do you ever worry about the chemicals you breathe in from the sprays etc ..... just seeing Nick sneeze 😧 Not being nasty just be careful 😘 love Ruth.

Great vlog guys. Huge Downton Abbey fans
I love how you showing the car on the map moving def helps especially to those that aren't in the Uk or not familar with that part of england.
I appreciate all the effort you put into these van trips. Thank you.
Hiya guys, so loving your van life vlogs, and also love movie and TV locations thank you nick .Alnwick castle has so much history . 👍

Take your airfryer in the van and do toast in that 😋, it only takes a couple of minutes. Loving van life and Nick's obsession 😂 x
Put boxes in cupboards to store things in which stops them rolling about . Xxx
I’ve got some lovely memories of both Alnwick Gardens and Castle, and the pub The Shepherd and Shepherdess ! Fantastic to see you both up in the North East, definitely a trip to Cragside next time for you both 😊

I read it is very relaxing to look out at wide open scenery, that’s why going to the beach feels so nice.
Fabulous vlog. You both look so happy in Taylor 🥰
You need to add skylights and windows to your check list
Xxx
You are going to kill that van starting it like that. Click it first and let the glow plugs warm up. It will start a lot easier 🎉
Hi guys, love the van life video's. Could you install an outside camera to your van. That way you could see what is going on around the van especially at night time. Loved learning about all the tv and movie productions at Alnwick Castle. Leigh why are you not driving the van as well?
You are pronouncing Alnwick spot on.
Hopefully some day you will come up to Scotland.
East west north and south plenty great stays.
We live in Dunbar.
We went to Anwick castle years ago / love visiting historic places

I’ve always wanted to go to Alnwick Castle, looks amazing 😍 great vlog guys xx
Keep boxes for things that you buy (toaster, kettle etc.) This makes storing them for travel easier meaning that they don’t become scratched.
Loved this vlog and can’t wait for Beamish.Probably the closest I will ever get!
Loving van life
Great vlog the weather has just been against you. These places will be worth another visit in the better weather but the park ups will be busier especially the one that locks you in at night

You’ll get a whistling kettle for £6-£10 in places like Halfords/the range/go outdoors/millets
My grill does that, we have found that if we turn the oven on heat it up and then switch to the grill it stays on. X
