    Wait you ran the last 400m in 68 seconds..?!!! Whaaaat..?!!! Holy God. I’ve never even run ONE 400m that fast let alone at the end of a marathon..!! Phenomenal effort, a phenomenal finish time, you gave it your all AND some, what an absolute hero 🤩💙🤍

    Man what a bitter sweet moment. To run the race of your life but to still not hit your goal time is a tough situation to be in. Amazing perspective from you Nick, I hope for the best in your next training block and your next attempt. Onwards and upwards💙

    Nick mate, first of all great effort and congrats on the PB! You said it yourself, you gave it your absolute all, that's all you can ask for. 9 seconds across a 42.2km race is brutal but we live to run another day. I have without a shadow of a doubt that you'll smash that 2:20 barrier with your next Marathon attempt. Onwards and Upwards!

Yet so happy cause you executed an amazing race, running solo, negative splitting and finishing with a strong surge! You've got this in you man, it's clear for all to see! I'm predicting when you break that sub 2:20 barrier (probably next attempt) you're going to be comfortably under that marker.
    Kudos to you. Looking forward to the next series already!

    Incredible Nick, what a run! Don’t let those 8 seconds ruin a truly brilliant performance. You’ve run a marathon in under 2:20, now you just have to train for a sub 2:20 42.6km to make up for those nasty little extra meters we pick up during the race.

    No need to apologise, you ran a fantastic race. I'm sure you've already looked at this so apologies if the following is stating the obvious or comes across as patronising... One thing I noticed for pretty much everyone on my Strava who ran Berlin was that their activity measured around 42.5k, which probably means that the GPS is what screwed you over - your pacing (if you were going off your watch) was out by a fraction of a second per km and that gradually added up to be the 9 second difference. I have absolute faith you'll get sub-2:20 next time and I'm excited to follow your progress. Keep going Nick, you're inspirational.

  • @jamesware7763
    @jamesware7763 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Congrats on your pb!
    Only less than 10 secs off sub 2.20 so i’d say at the moment you are in the ballpark time zone of 2.18.30-2.20. You only need to tinker a bit with your training and get some consistent fast half marathons under your belt around 1.07 to enable you to cruise home for the 2nd half of your next marathon. Keep persevering you’ve got this 👍👍

    Amazing run and PB. My one thought about the sub 2:20 is would you perhaps look for about 69:30 at halfway next time? Even splits isn’t always even effort and even Kipchoge had a positive split this time.

      @justalilbester  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@justalilbester I am thinking of doing Seville myself. I did it in 2020 just before lockdown (fortunately) and thought it was a very good event. Near enough pan flat. Plenty of support and drinks stations. Not too warm, not too cold. A big event but not huge like the majors so certainly plenty of room to run even at my 2:56 pace that day.

    So close! You couldn't have done any more, an heroic effort, perfectly paced and executed. I can only think of one thing that might have made a tiny difference. Look at Kipchoge, he has a shaved head in every race. Maybe the weight of your hair and hair dye added a few seconds?
