  • Ray Price was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996, a recognition many felt was overdue not due to his career longevity or hit records, but because of his profound impact on country music. Price pioneered a rhythmic honky-tonk sound in the late 1950s that reshaped the genre and influenced generations of musicians. Raised in East Texas, Price initially aimed to become a veterinarian but found success in music after serving in the Marines during World War II. His breakthrough came with Columbia Records in 1951, marking the beginning of his influential career in country music.

He was always my favorite and I had bought his greatest hits CD about the time I met my second wife. We had only gone out a couple of times and she invited me to come over to her house for new years eve 2003 not really knowing what we were going to do , and somehow we ended up dancing in her kitchen to that Ray Price CD for hours, and I fell in love with her that night. She's gone now, but I'll never forget that night.

I have Apple Music and I will admit - Ray Price is my country singer and Jeannie Seeley is my favorite female singer.. I was born in 1944 so I grew up with Ray.

I was born in 1943 and I too grew up listening to Ray Price.
He is one of my top 3 favorites
Seeley is near at the bottom of the barrel for me
Martina McBride is my fave female singer and Jean Shepard is next. I wish JS had recorded It's Such A Pretty World Today.

Ray Price loved to come to Helotes, TX and play one of those great honky tonks, Floore's Country Store...I saw him 5 times and the last time I saw him he was looking tired, he was in his 80s, but that voice was still strong and awesome. ALWAYS a huge crowd when he came to perform. Great memories of seeing him perform. R.I.P. Ray Price and thanks for all of the music you left us...

A good friend of mine,Steve Palousek played steel for him for a few years. Ray set the standard for the 4/4 Country Shuffles.
NO ONE will ever do them like Ray.

Jim Reeves is hardly mentioned but Jim took country music to Europe, the African continent India and Sri Lanka where country music wasn't heard of.

Ray Price was the first country star I ever saw in concert. It was in Sharptown, Texas, in the early 70s.

During my stint in the Dallas /Ft.Woth radio market... I got to work with Ray a little. He was top shelf! As cool as a morning breeze. Some hard time near the end but it doesn't change the results. One of a handful of greats. It was easiest to talk to him at the old Panther Hall Ballroom in Ft.World I tried and tried to talk him out of the coolest boots I've ever seen, but they were too small.

If you are not aquainted with Ray Price and Marty Robbins , that's too bad. I'm going to bring them to your attention. Both men super, super, super stars; well-respected by their peers. Enjoy. 🤗
