Thanks for posting this. I have a Deluxe 30 that just ate the drive belt yesterday. Edges of the belt look pretty shredded and I had started to smell the belt burning during cleanup of our last storm. I installed a new belt and used the machine to throw snow today. It worked as it should, but I intermittently smelled belt burning again. I wasn't looking for it at the time, but I do remember the swing plate having lots of play from side to side. I bet I'm missing pins. I saw another video where they put a nut on that bolt where you put the piece of fuel line. Same idea, seems to help keep the plate pushed back. Seems like a crap design from Ariens though....
subbed a few back..your a real Value to us guys for sharing I OWN a pro 28 and it kicked a drive belt....and i scratched my head. i found the sliding shaft lost its pin on the outside. only 1 washer, and my other pro 28 has 2 washers. i going to pull it apart again and look to see if those 2 inside are there this weekend. it really is Pisspoor on their design......but i love the machine. it pissed me off when it popped that drive belt, the belt was in great shape.
I see probably 10 of these per season with this issue. There is a way to install the hairpins so they don't push themselves out. But using a cotter pin is a foolproof method.
Kinda makes me wonder why people are so in love with Ariens, since this seems like a pretty basic design issue. Are they just the least-bad blowers out there?

@@SmallEngineWizard thank for sharing!!! just needed a clue, I'll see it soon interesting on shorter belt.
Adding a lock nut to the stop bolt also helps the angle become less harsh
if the fricfion disc is brand new or not too worn it brings the drive plate too close to the disc. but that does work great on older machines!

What tool did you use to remove the spring?
This one is a snap on sprg618
@@SmallEngineWizard thank you. That’s pretty cool.
I made a big mistake 5 years ago. I bought a 26 inch.troybilt piece of junk. Warning don’t buy one , nothingbut trouble.
I have the 28 and it’s 10 years old and still cuts threw plow drifts
