Might as well get a battery powered two stage snowblower and eliminate the gas engine.

You have to check to pulley alignment with the engine running at full speed and with the auger engaged. The pulley shifts backwards when the auger is engaged.

Put a 1/4 20 lock nut on the stop bolt for the drive plate

Used this same fix, worked perfectly

So I did this repair and I still had problems for about a year. No matter how I secured it it still surged. My fix was taking bolts out and putting zip ties where the bolts are so it would be slightly loose and absorb the vibrations. Ideally there should be some rubber grommets to help with the vibration.

This solved my problem also.

Why not just reshape the female contacts in the plug with a tiny flathead screwdriver so that it makes good contact with the male pins?

Most people don't realize what is involved in repair & maintenance. No idea!

Got my washer but my problem is when you tight the screw it tight on the washer because the pulley doesn't touch the crankshaft like before, in that case should i put inside the pulley some 3/8 washer thanks

Great review and points on the knobs being true issue. I'm a woodturner and have to sharpen my tools every 20min or so of turning. CBN wheels are the only way to go, thanks for pointing this out. They don't need to be dressed, don't change shape or reduce in size easy to clean and transfer heat. Great vid.

Funny thing about the battery is that it's exactly the same as any 7.2V NiMH hobby battery for R/C's, and if it craps out on you, any equivalent battery with that connector will work on it. My only frustration is that I've not been able to find out how many mAh's it is because I would then be able to use a hobby charger.

Kinda makes me wonder why people are so in love with Ariens, since this seems like a pretty basic design issue. Are they just the least-bad blowers out there?

Thank you so much!!!!! I had this exact sequel after only 4 hours of use. I couldn't believe it, I bought a top tier mower and just couldn't believe I had that sound. I followed your guide and actually adjusted mine with the deck on and in park. The passenger side (same as yours) was rubbing. Small bend outward and she's great now. Saved me a trip to a shop!!!!!! Cardboard works as well. I have used it a few times on my John Deere. Also, if you dont have a filter wrench, a pair of channel locks and punching a hole with screw driver will work as well.

Thank you! I had a similar issue, but worse, 2 years ago. They covered a new control module under warranty. It started acting up again and I was sure it was the same issue. After watching this, I reseated the plug and it works great!
