Thank you, Al’s kitchen, for helping me sort out my deep pan order from Baa’s House. I adapted your recipe and used it to make a ‘Carolina, Chili, Chicken, Tikka, Naga, Phall.’ I substituted the tomato puree with Carolina Reaper tomato paste and also added chopped finger chilies as a garnish, just for a little extra kick! I then tested the recipe on several family members who I haven’t seen or heard from since. On the plus side, I did get to make full use of my new set of rods for the drains! All credit and responsibility went to, Al, of course. ;-)

I would have done this for him in a heartbeat! There's only one curry house I know that does this dish amazingly and unfortunately it's my old hometown so I only ever get to order it when I'm visiting my mother. We all know how great Al is at his curries, so I would LOVE to try his version of this!

I made the Pathia last night with a fresh Naga chilli and two table spoons of extra hot curry powder. Couldn’t stop coughing while I was cooking it my wife was going nutts 🤣! But OMG the taste, your putting all the local curry houses out of business, surprised they’re not lobbying TH-cam to have you taken down. Thanks Al, another banger!

Hottest thing I've ever tasted was the Phal from the Kismot restuarant in Edinburgh. When the waiter delivers the curry to the table he wears a gas mask and they play the theme tune from Jaws!

@@dizzy2020 I remember one time I was in Aberdeen been out all day on the sauce and walking back home went into an Indian place for take-away. I got this Phal Hot Chicken Vindaloo. It packed a punch thats for sure and I was sat watching TV having a beer with the dish on one of those wooden Dinner trays. So anyway I was kinda drunk and spilled some food on the tray and I just stuck it in the kitchen an address it in morning as u do. Anyway the spilled food had left a total stain on the varnish tray, so im like thinking if its doing that , then what is it doing to my insides hahahahahaha.

Rupalis restaurant on the toons big market was in the Guinness book of records for having the world's hottest curry. I tried it once and it was like being pepper sprayed and stabbed in the stomach. No amount of beer got rid of the burning. Never ate a hot curry since.

    • @TheVanillatech
      @TheVanillatech 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

My legend was a simple lamb vindaloo that I followed a TH-cam recipie for (well... almost). The guy on the video threw in an extra 3 birdeyes towards the end. I didn't have any birdeyes, I only had reapers. One small reaper went in first, and I knew that was gonna be hot. But my friend and I somehow convinced each other to add a second, which was twice the size of the first midget. Half way through eating it I felt like I was tripping. Couldn't finish it. Never again!

Naga is an amazing flavour. Accumulative heat that has an 'earthiness' to it. I use 'Mr Naga' too that I purchase for £2.20 a jar from PK Foods (Amazon £6!) if my crop of fresh Carolina Reaper isn't available that is. As it happens, I ran out 2 days ago and bought 6x jars today (all on shelf!). I *will* be making this and we *love naga!* Thanks Al 😀

I used to order chicken phall all the time in the 80s after a pub crawl in Soho as I could handle the heat. People who hadn`t had it before used to ask me how it tasted. I said, "it`s very tasty - try some". Well, you should've seen the reaction - red faces lots of sweating. I used to say, "drink plenty of lager", which is the worse thing to do. We had many laughs.

Years ago having eaten everything else on the menu at my local Indian Restaurant in Swindon - I tried the Phall. Only the once. I did eventually eat it all, but did not taste much after the first mouthful except the searing heat. I regretted it again the next day too. Glad I finally tried everything they offered - but I do not need that experience again. I like to taste my food. In retrospect - I should have had a stuntman on hand too...

I've loved Naga Phall for years, there's an Indian cuisine where I used to live with my mum, they do an absolutely sublime Naga Phall. I used to be a regular there for their insanely good curries. Unfortunately, I've since moved to Worcester with my partner where, honest to God, not a SINGLE Indian Restaurant here (there's about 18) can cook a proper curry. Every single one of them makes watery, runny curries with absolutely no flavour in them whatsoever. You can bet your bottom dollar I've tried every single restaurant, desperate to find a good one.
Not only are the curries around here incredibly subpar, not a single curry house around here does a Phall dish, not one. I remember when I first moved here I called around to a whole bunch of Indian Restaurants one night asking if they did a Phall, one of them told me over the phone "We don't do that here, it's too dangerous", I thought the guy was pulling my leg. ONE place did serve me a "Phall" when I asked but it was a weak Vindaloo, they must have assumed I wouldn't be able to tell the difference but it was obvious, it even had potato in it ffs!
It really baffles and saddens me that there is nowhere to get a good curry around here (but gives me something nice to do when I go and visit my mum, I ALWAYS book a table there when I visit).

As a Bengali, I use Mr. Naga chilli pickle like ketchup. I’ve been eating naga chillis (in raw form) since I was about 9 so it has no affect on my digestive system.

I love the flavour of naga, it is my fave chilli. My local indian created a Naga balti for me which is currently my fave curry.
I do love Vindaloo as well.
I tried a Phall about 20 years ago when I live din London and really liked it. I popped in for a curry on my way home from work one day and was the only person in the restaurant. They were shocked I was ordering a Phall and kept warning me it was really hot.
Then as I sat there eating it, I saw all the staff watching me in shock from the corner.... I can only imagine that it was not normal for them to have a completely sober person ordering a phal.
I have not really felt the need to order one for a very long time, as the Vindaloos where I live now or more than hot enough, but the heat of curry's really does fluctuate from one restaurant to another. I have had Vindaloos which I did not think were hot at all and I have had insanely hot Madras.

That looks lovely. I can handle a phal just about.
My favourite curry house curry would be the Lamb Dansak. Dipping that naan bread into the hot, sweet and sour with the texture of lentils.....mmmmm
My all-time favourite Ruby would be the Butter Chicken Punjabi style.... beautiful
    Love the vid

Fantastic looking curry! I had to stop ordering a phall from my local restaurants as they just couldn't make it hot enough. I switched to a Bengal Naga Chilli curry which is probably closer to what you've made here.

🥵🥵🥵🥵🤣🤣 brilliant Al. Good on ya for making it anyway I'm sure there's a few out there that can take such heat. I tried phall once ,well, a bit of the sauce on the tip of me knife.wow!!!! never again! 🤯

My sister tells me I'm broken, I eat such hot food. So I'll probably like this. Have to get some Mr. Naga first, but I have easy access to all the other ingredients. Well, need to watch your chicken video first. I'll bet I love it. I eat Indian dishes so hot even the desies are surprised!

That looks mega. John the guinea pig turns a fine beetroot colour at 11min 30sec. That's got to be a hot one and definitely a recipe I will try with some fresh Nagas from one stop chilli shop.

Our local takeaways cheat by adding a teaspoon of chilli powder to a Chicken Tikka Masala... and charging £1 extra!
