As an owner of the Rogers World Elite Mastercard, just received a letter about the change to the new Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard, which states that as of April 2024, the $15k minimum spend requirement will be removed.
Certainly good news. Though I doubt it changes THAT much. For a credit card that gives up to 3% cashback, 2% minimum if you have Rogers service, 15K/Year spend on that card isn't too hard.
Rogers isn’t losing money on this card. The fact that you have to be a customer means they’re making tons of money from you indefinitely. Brilliant move Rogers.
You actually don't need to be a Rogers customer to use these cards though being a customer increases rewards. 3% cashback is could be a small loss on each transaction. It wouldnt make sense for rogers to lose money on their banking sector just to be profitable on their telecom sector. They are a corporate. Their ultimate goal is to be profitable on all fronts.
@@lispmanfinance if anything, I don't mind pairing the $0 annual fee brim mastercard, with the soon to be revamped rogers world elite credit card, along with the scotia passport visa infinite card. To me, that's a solid trifecta
I kind of see Rogers lowering the rewards after like a year or even less. Once, they get everyone to get one service with them then they will cut the rewards I'm guessing. It's only very recently, in December, that Rogers changed the rewards from 30% to 50% when you redeem rewards towards Rogers bill (So it was 2.6% cashback before instead of 3%) (Edit, you actually mention it in the video at 0:19). I don't think Mastercard is charging every merchant over 3% so Rogers might be losing some money on transactions. 0:45 Why not 3% cashback on everything? I'm hesitate to switch to Rogers, I'm actually with Cityfone which is owned by Rogers but Cityfone looks like shutting down but I'm in a contract for a year. I'll call Rogers in April and see if it's possible to switch.
Cityfone is in the same tier as Fido which still gets you that increased cashback with Rogers Mastercard. You can switch to Fido instead. You just don't get the free 5 days Rogers Roam though.....but I don't see it as a big deal
I am still unable to wrap my head around why do you say close to 3%, because that 3% is only for my Roger's bill and for rest it's just 2% general. Or am I reading it wrong? In that case it's at par with tangerine. The perfect combo would be Use Mbna world elite for groceries to her 5% Use Simplii cashback for restaurants for 4% Use this or tangerine card for all other purchases And if rental then use Scotiabank card paired with chexy for recurring bills.

Finally a card to dethrone Colbalt. This card will essentially reduce my daily drivers to Rogers, Simplii, and Brim! It's crazy how Rogers WE used to offer 4% on foreign purchases too!
cobalt will continue being number one, as you can use it for restaurants, groceries, and gas to get 5x on most valuable point out there. Everything else yes use rogers mc.
Thanks for the video. I like this card for gas. Where I am, gasoline is generally about $1.75 a liter or so. In addition, I use my BCAA card to get a 3 cent per litre discount. Now, if I pay using my Roger's credit card I get an additional 5.25 cents per liter (at $1.75 a litre) which brings my actual savings to 8.25 cents per litre. I use about 40 litres so I get back $4.10 a litre. One thing though, if you use the card, you get a 3% credit. You do not get a discount and to get the 3%, you need to spend it on a Roger's product and I pay my Roger's phone bill with it. I put some clients' items on the card and I haven't really paid a Roger's phone bill since the second month I got the card. This really has become my go to credit card although i use two others to get various discounts.
It says “business/corporate plans do not qualify” but I was able to take advantage of the 3% cash back with my corporate plan that my employer reimburses me for. Even if you might think your corporate plan might qualify, you should still try
@@lispmanfinance if rogers bank really wants to step up their game, then they should also remove the foreign transaction fee as well and still earn at least 1.5% cash back on worldwide spending. Plus the bank should also offer a business credit card as well

It's up to 3% right now. If you have Rogers Account, it might as well be. You're going to be using most of your cashback, if not all of it on your Rogers statement credit anyways. Which is 3%. It used to be 2.6%. Yes, it's technically 2%. But why use that 2% credit on something else when you can just get that 3% on Rogers Statement credits?
Before cashback. So 100euros for example, you convert to cad which is like 150cad. You get 2% cashback. But if you exchange it for rogers service, you can exchange it for 3% in rogers credit. Essentially granting you a 0.5% cashback because credit cards usually charge a 2.5% foreign exchange fee
I recently got the WE Rogers Mc, I was pre approved for the red Mc and I just stated my house hold income which they said I qualify for the WE so I took it and my application was improved instantly
That's true. But for many people, that's all they can redeem for. Remember, if a Rogers bill is 45 dollars for example, that's 1500 in monthly spending. Many people don't even spend that on their credit card every month.
What you say doesn't even make sense. What you mean "if Rogers bill is 45 dollars, that's 1500 in monthly spending"? How does having a 45 dollar rogers bill implies 1500 monthly spending? Also, your video is hugely misleading and giving false information. The first sentence of the video says "3% cash back on EVERYTHING in Canada is unheard of". Also, in later part of the video, you said "although its not a direct 3%, but its close enough", which is completely absurd. 3% on a 45 dollar rogers bill is completely different from having 3% on EVERYTHING that you spend on the card. Please get your fact straight and math correct before posting these kind of video @@lispmanfinance
@@randomsymmetry4920 Lispmanfinance is correct. Simple, 45/0.03=1500. Everything you buy within 1500 monthly (even better, not monthly/annual cap, bcz you can accumulate and redeem later) can be redeemed to rogers bill, hence 3%.
He means that if you are spending $1500 monthly on this card, that’s $45 in cash back that you could use to pay you Roger’s bill. I hope it makes sense now. And yes if you don’t have Roger’s bill coming then it’s 2%
