  • "God Save the Tsar!" (Russian: Боже, Царя храни!; transliteration: Bozhe, Tsarya khrani!) was the national anthem of the late Russian Empire. The song was chosen from a competition held in 1833. The composer was violinist Alexei Lvov, and the lyrics were by the court poet Vasily Zhukovsky. It was the anthem until the Russian Revolution of 1917, after which "Worker's Marseillaise" was adopted as the new national anthem until the overthrow of the Russian Provisional Government.

    Well, after writing up most of your suggestions and recomendations, they will come out as soon as i got time to make them, however, if you have anything that you would like me to make, i would gladly do it, and if it is a song, anthem or a march in your own language (Russian for example) i would gladly appreciate if you could help me transelate them. Thank you :)

      Alexander II was assassinated when he was working on turning Russia to constitutional monarchy , which led his son , Alexander III to throw all of that and keep monarchism to fight such people who sadly tried to assassinate him as well , and Nicholas II ended up fearing any choice that is not monarchist.

      @KoeppenLP 7 ปีที่แล้ว +110

      You write below a Video about the Tsarist Anthem "May Russia be restored to its former glory.". What you think which people are in the comments? Communist? Republicans?
      Yes, I want a Monarchy. Not because the Monarch should have power. He/She is a national Symbol like the Flag, Coat of Arms, Anthem... In Germany (I am a German), we have a President without Power. The People cant vote direct for or against him. A Monarch have more Prestige as a President (Only maybe the US-President or other powerful Nations.... but only because... They are fucking powerful.)

    • @redheadrusskie
      @redheadrusskie 7 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      There is a reason why Russia collapsed under an absolute monarchy. If you want one of your own then you will only witness history to repeat itself. This idol of which you speak in a modern constitutional monarchy more or less does nothing as there is nothing they are able to do with the little power they uphold, and no monarchy above a cosntitutional one can be established in any given Western state nowadays.
      And what the fuck were you expecting in this comments section anyway? This one Norwegian TH-camr distributes historic nationalistic content promoting countries all over the globe, if you think that absolutely all the people viewing it as well as following him share the same viewpoint on certain matters then of the two of us it's not me to be looked down to.

    My mother’s father was a Colonel in the Czarist Army (White Russian) when the Reds took power he fled to Estonia where my mother was born; at the time it was a Sovereign Nation. So in 1917 he became a professor of Natural Sciences at the university in Tallinn. Then the communist invaded Estonia in 1939 and the family fled to Germany. My mother said that she took as much of the silver she could carry (they were well off) and her older sister took all the photo albums and the family Bible which my mother said that she should have taken some of the family photos. They had a cook, gardener, maid and a chauffeur (the Chauffeur had to learn how to drive because they only had a horse and buggy). They lost everything in Russia 1000 acres in the Oral Mountains. We still have the deed with all of the wax seals and signatures. They lost everything in Estonia; my mother and sister made a trip back to Estonia when Russia was brought down. They visited her home but the new owners wouldn’t let them in the house. The museum of Natural Science there is a hug display of my grandfather’s life work on display. It has a happy ending. My mother worked at AT&T for 20 years after my father retired from the Army in 1966. Every payday she would purchase two shares of AT&T Stock; 26 pay periods a year. She bought a large plot of land in a gated community and had a house built. She wrote a check and my sister said, “mom you can use the monthly payments and take it off your taxes.” Mom just shrugged her shoulders and said that she didn’t want to be bothered about writing checks every month. She put my three children through college and while they were in their senior year they got a car. My daughter from my second marriage is 18 and a freshman at Rowan University. Mom gave her $20,000 for a car and $75,000 for college. Gracy will graduate debt free. Through her hard work and thrifty ways fully recovered from all that her family lost. She is 93 and still going strong. We are visiting her in April. Her grandchildren have been a blessing to her; the oldest is a Fashion Photographer in Brooklyn, his younger brother is a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon in Orlando and my daughter is a store Director in San Antonio, TX with HEB. I have been saving everything I can about Estonia and this anthem will bring tears to her face.

      That is an amazing story Mark, thanks for sharing it. My (essentially) German great-grandfather managed to live peacefully in St Petersburg, until late 1914, when he moved to Tallinn. He lived in Estonia until about 1929, seeing himself as Estonian (despite his/our German/Russian/Swedish roots) before moving to the UK, for reasons that are still unclear...but apparently bearing the deeds to the family property.....which have of course disappeared since! Dad and I think we have pin-pointed the exact place, but obviously have no evidence for a claim...I never met him, but it seems that he'd "given up" on Russia until a Romanov restoration, and despaired when the USSR retook the baltics. He never lived to see their independence.
      Your Mom rocks btw, you are a very lucky son! Lots of love to her

    We also had another hymn 1762-1816. This anthem was called - "If our Lord is glorious". The first anthem of Russia was the march of the Preobrazhensky Regiment (1711), which was performed until the reign of Catherine the Great in 1762. In 1816 a new anthem appears, which was partially copied from the English anthem. It was called the "Prayer of the Russians". Later, this hymn was transformed into the final version (1833) called "God Save the Tsar!".

He’s basically the sole heir to the Russian Imperial Throne.
