I love the idea for the marathon. I think the biggest hurdle you'd have, is that you have to condition yourself to running with the backpack, so it doesn't throw you off. But also, the question is, would they allow you to run with the backpack? I'm rooting for ya though Pete!

Great video, thank you. You failed to mention though that the connection bonding feature of the LiveU Solo is a paid subscription-based service. The hardware itself is not self-sufficient.
IRL streaming has been super overwhelming to learn about.. Been streaming on twitch for 3 years now and ready to change things up, but every time I say I'm going to IRL stream, I give up because it feels like SO MUCH. Grateful to have someone break everything down for me.. Been trying to rent from UnlimitedIRL for a few weeks as I have an upcoming trip abroad but it turns out they took a bit of a hit from COVID. Getting someone on the phone to answer questions like these has been difficult to say the least. I have a friend who has a backpack near me, but I still need to put together data/modem and setup my own camera. Hoping I can get the NETGEAR Nighthawk and talk to T-mobile about covering me in more rural parts of Jamaica. Thank you again for your helpful info.

Pretty good explaination thanks for it. I got a question. Is there a solution when u want to start stream to use a cam on your should which is connected to you mobile phone? The mic from the mobile phone should be enoug for first right?
Because what i want to do in RL it's not possible to do with just 1 hand and also my wrists are hurting alot after a while. So i have to find a cheap starter way to get a view for my viewers and a possibility to read the messages on stream.

Watching this in 2023, and it's impressive that LiveU is still a thing, and I didn't know that's how some people were doing their run and gun IRL streams. The one I remember as probably the best, was the SlingStudio. I used it once, and it was really cool that you could use multiple HDMI sources, you could buy wireless HDMI adapters so your extra cameras didn't have to be wired to the unit, and could also use another iPhone as a camera source. It only lacked the connection redundancy of LiveU, but it still had a lot going for it. Sadly, I don't think you can find it for sale anymore, not new at least. I do know a camera rental service that does have it, that's how I got to use one.
Do you think one could still do this or is it too late. asking for a friend. IRL sounds fun
When you livestream with the Sony, do you set the mode to "live" or "movie". I just got one and live mode eliminates all control of image quality. I plan to use it via an atem switcher. So do I just set the HDMI out put and put it in live mode and press record. Or does movie mode work? Thanks.

Does the StreamElements mobile app do facecam with screen capture like TH-cam gaming live mobile app? I swear by Streamlabs mobile app for streaming IRL to Twitch but it seems like they only offer selfie mode OR screencap. Thx in advance for any insight.
Great video. I stream my DJ sets on Twitch using my Android phone as the camera and USB audio input for the audio. The main issue I have is the autofocus - I hate it being on. Can an app turn it off? Secondly, I find I can add extra tags in the IRL set up. Even if I set it up on the desktop prior to going live, it doesn't show these tags when live. Frustrating.
Hi m8! What do you reccomend for data plans for UK residents? 300 bucks from unlimited irl a month seems a bit over the top. Could you reccomend anything for someone streaming IRL solely around UK?

If you are going to use it loads then get a contract. If you buy from Garland the liveu they have a data plan on a steered sim so picks the strongest network and they charge £6 per 1gb data but you can add multiple sims so that’s across all sims. Can be pricey if doing it lots though but benefit is no contract

When you go directly live from live u to twitch, u wont have any overlays/alerts and no TTS (donations) going on

Hey, great video! I was wondering, do we have to pay for the solo connect data plan on a subscription basis on top of data plans for sim cards? Or does the liveu solo unit bond signals automatically without needing to subscribe to another pay-per-month service? (Essentially, do we just pay for the data plans for the sim cards we're using, or do we have to pay per month for the solo connect subscription in order to bond them?)
We have a solution where you can rent, lease, lease to own, or fully purchase a streaming unit. then we load up the sims and you only pay for data after that with remote support subscription.

You explained everything just fine, but that sony bullet cam is no longer available on amazon, and only seen used ones on ebay. Is there an upgraded version of the camera now? Or just another camera that has come out that may be better?

Was gonna try one, but every irl streamer i see has their liveu or modem breaking or resetting weekly or even more frequent.

I have a very rugged streamer if you ever want to discuss. Solid case and no overheating problems.
Would any of this stuff break from say lots of hard movement, like jumping off a rock, or racing around off road on a dirtbike? or MTB?
Premix Utah you might want to put some padding in between the hardware, but the equipment itself shouldn’t break
Live U solo doesn't support HEVC encoding, you actually could run GoPro Hero 7 which supports HEVC and has decent quality + image stabilization and use your Phone as LTE antenna to transmit your stream to your server. Much better option in my opinion.

@@Slippery_Si Yes, it should be. It goes like this: GoPro + Phone LTE > rtmp nginx server > OBS / SLobs > twitch/youtube/etc... (rtmp nginx server can be run localy on the same PC)

Can you use a VPN with the SoloU thing? I live in China, and for the moment without a VPN connection I can't stream to the rest of the world.
