      Seriously every one of them. I think he gets off on the sound clanging his ring on the back of the neck. I don't care if it's relic they don't put dings on the neck but his rings do!

    I would love to have any one of those beauties! The '59 with the John Cruz pups was incredible, but there's just something I love about the ones with the aged tortoise shell pickgaurds and cream knobs/covers. Such a sweet look! Just bought a vintage Japanese electric I'm restoring. Has the tortoise shell. I guess it got me hooked on them!👍😎🎸🎶

    I like the journeyman relic, you get a guitar that already has a little wear so you’ll cry less when you scratch it with your belt.

  • @ErinBlueBird
    @ErinBlueBird 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    There’s something bout heavy relics that looks unrealistic to me.
    Some vintage ones yellow over time like an Olympic white one I saw, it’s was yellow like a lemon and it never had a refin or anything like that. And what about that almost satin look when the finish sinks into the wood or the orange tint on the headstock caused by the UV exposure.
    My point is that they should figure out some way to make a real old look to a guitar if the heavy relic thing makes the cost up on a guitar.

    • @eddiegodoy5120

      Spending extra money for relic or heavy relic is dumb AF... I'll take a brand new strat nd have it get beat up over time. Or just buy a real vintage strat... Sadly I'm lefty so its almost impossible for me to find a strat I like.

      Relic looking guitars r literally called posers in any other hobby 😂... That's like a skater getting a brand new board going outside and sliding the board on the curb to make it look like the boardslide nose slide and tail slide that's stupid. U can like relics all u want but its still dumb and a waste of money. Just get a new guitar and make ur own relic over time.

    • @jakestewartmusic
      @jakestewartmusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@subzero308 That might be the case if you think that relic guitars are only about looks, but they're not. To me and a lot of players, they feel more comfortable to play. There's less sticky finish on the back of the neck and along the areas you commonly come in contact with the guitar to help facilitate smooth movement across the guitar. Also lots of pros that use relic guitars play them because they're used to their actual vintage instruments that are far too valuable to take on tour where they can get stolen or destroyed. The real selling point of relic guitars to me is the feel. You're entitled to your opinion about them being for 'posers' but a LOT of professional guitarists play them all the time.
      It just gets really annoying that once anyone mentions the word "relic" on a guitar video, the entire comment section gets flooded with closed-minded boomers shitting on them. Different strokes for different folks. I don't go to their youtube and shit all over their taste in music or whatever. It's a really stupid thing to debate.

    • @ipuya
      @ipuya 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No sure i agree. The advantage of a relic guitar is 1. that you don't have to worry about getting them scratched so you feel at ease playing and carrying them around, 2. They feel nicer cause all the varnish has been scraped off the neck so it plays great and 3. They retain their value better, cause if you scratch a normal guitar it devalues it but not so with a relic one. Having said that i couldn't afford one 😂

    Crawling into bed with Fender is a HUGE mistake, but you won't know it until the day they simply cut you off with no warning.
    I, along with about 25 other small luthiers, can sell you a better strat for less. and still use Fenders parts.
