I have had the Gerber Dime for several years and really like it. I am really considering the PowerPint. Absolutely would love the Victorinox Swiss Tool.

You can’t go wrong with any of those! AliExpress has Powerpints for cheap because they are seconds

Roxon just released the T shank adapter that will work with Leatherman's file for the Surge. I don't know if it will fit closed though. The Swisstool Spirit MX clip is on sale for $114. I have the regular one already with the Victorinox brown Leather sheath. I use it for dress or casual event carry. I have been tempted to get the Roxon companion, with a few tools to try it out but I really don't want it to be my only carry. Leatherman or Victorinox haven't failed me in my time of need. Leatherman has disappointed me in quality control a bit and in the newer wire cutters gap, but both companies products has helped me and helped me help others. Even when I gave my Leatherman or Victorinox for them to use, they were impressed, except for my Leatherman Rev. My neighbor loves the package opener, but hates everything else on the Rev. The tools on the Powerpint are to small and I really only used the knife, the pliers, and the bit holder. I switched to my Knifeless Rebar, since it fits in my coin pocket. I carry a knife of my choosing. I just always wished I had my Spirit X, Rebar, or Rev, over the smaller tools on the Powerpint. The Gerber Dime is the best Gerber multitool, next to the Dual Force. I have both and I would pick either one over any other Gerber I tried, from the MP600, to the Center Drive, both are the best Gerber multitools, in my opinion. I did pick up a Surge Clone for my neighbor who kept asking me what should be his first multitool for around the house. I told him that I wouldn't depend on it or carry one that heavy away from home, but it will let him know if he wants to upgrade to a Leatherman or Victorinox later on. Since I use the same BIBURY Surge clone around the house, he was so happy to get it and he was tightening every screw he could find. It was like seeing a kid in a candy store. 😆 🤣 😂
I think he is hooked. He's a knife guy, so he might still only carry a knife away from home. Police are a little hard on knives around here. 😞

You've clearly got a good handle on what works for you! Sounds like the Surge clone is a great option for your neighbor. I’m getting that Roxon T-Shank adapter so we’ll see how it fits

Hey mate! A few items I'd consider adding:
    1) Rocktol 12-in-1 multitool knife: for $19 it's a steal. It's basically a cheaper/budget version of the Leatherman T4 and a much much better version of the Gerber Armbar Drive.
    2) Flex Companion: great alternative to the Hunstman. Has almost all the same tools and is currently $45.
    Cheers & happy holidays.
PS: it seems like the SOG Pints on AliEx are seconds? Can you confirm?

Nice suggestions, I stuck with tools I own and have used for my list so far but I will check those out.
AliExpress does sell seconds of the PowerPint.

Just ordered the Rocktol 12-in-1 for $15 with coupon, on your recomendation. Don't see how I could go wrong for that price, probably should have order two.

Nice video! I really enjoy my Sog Power Pint, I carry it in a small fenix flash light pouch on my side as my main blade is in my front pocket.

Gerber Dime is a nice tool set, but could be done better. Also, the quality control at Gerber is not so great in my experience. I have had to replace it multiple times, as the scissors spring seems to break with very little use. The one other time, the back spring on the knife went bad and didn't hold the blade in place after just a couple uses. I think they have stopped responding to my warranty emails now.

I agree, Gerber’s quality control isn’t the best. If the Squirt were available to buy new it would probably be on this list instead but I gotta stick to stuff people can find. I think for $15-20 the Dime is good and little fuss to replace even if you’re buying it again. I think this size category is hard to be competitive and profitable in, otherwise Leatherman would still be in it lol

Value wise, i believe the Gerber Suspension rocks. I've been using it for about 5yrs now.
My mistake, the Gerber Truss is what I have been carrying for about 5yrs now. It was the Suspension that I carried before that.
Gerber Truss is excellent and for about 55 bucks if your shopping.

Thanks, I might check it out. I have both versions of the Suspension and they are decent tools.

If the Gerber Splice came in pretty colours, would it beat out the dime?

For me, no. I prefer a plier over scissors in my multitools.

Fair enough. How about the mini sailor (and/or the sailor lite) from nextool?

Upgrading to the Plus Scales is worth it for the pen and needle. Increases the density of 'Hero of the moment' tools stuffed into the SAK in addition to tightening glasses screws and opening wine bottles!

How are scissors on your powerpint? Mine's suck. I mean, they will cut paper, but nothing crazy like paracord. This is the only thing that holds powerpint from being the perfect edc multitool IMHO

    • @inkiron3907
      @inkiron3907  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

Mine are fine, but I agree they’re better for paper and thread rather than paracord. On the Powerpint I’ve got a whole serrated blade for cordage cutting, so I’m fine with the scissors being light-duty.

Yo, the Leatherman surge not being on this list, but the Swiss tool being on here is mad crazy. Even one of the Chinese clones of the surge would make sense. It’s literally been the king of Maltos for a while. I’d like to know why you didn’t put it on here.

At $150 I think the price point is exactly where it should be for the Surge. In my mind it doesn’t deliver more or less value than its price. The weight is also a hard sell for people. 3/4lbs of steel in the pocket is a lot. I think for the average person the SwissTool is more approachable and a similar price point. I love my Surge AND I have a hard time recommending it lol

Nice choices. The Dime is really decent tool. I have come to like the Nextool EDC with the larger scissors. It is bigger than the Dime, but I tend to use scissors so often that it is great tradeoff for me. The Powerpint is a great tradeoff of size and utility though some of the tools are kind of garbage. I don't tend to need real pliers very often so I like the Medium SAK Cybertool with a bunch of bits included. I also like the discontinued Explorer with the magnify glass and 180 degree Philips head (vs the Tinkerer which is a 90 degree). The Huntsman is great and often found for $40. I do also like the Ranger with the metal saw and file added to the wood saw. The Flex is now less than $90 and new options like D2 steel blade. And a new Flex Companion which is much smaller, no pliers, but has more full length slots and is cheaper.
