Thank you for doing a “beginners “ video from start to finish with a simple but beautiful subject matter and explaining in detail what your using and the outline through shading! I’m just starting. I’m disabled and I need a hobby because sitting in the house daily with nothing to do sucks. I have no free hand artistic abilities so I’m thankful that I can trace etc. thank you so much!
I have been watching your videos. Thank you for the great detailed explanations of what and why you are doing. I would love a video where you simply talk about your tools and explain what each of the bits do in the engraving process.
I have just learnt that you can make images smaller or bigger I never new the trick I have many small pictures that I have tried many ways to make bigger this is so simple thank you very much
Really helped me decide to try this. I have wood, stone and bone appropriate bits, so I should have what I need to start. I have a few single pieces of crystal glassware that survived a tornado that hit my house and can turn a couple into vases. Thanks.
Wow, thankyou so so much, I have accidentally come across this whilst looking at etching, and I have to say, that this has been so easy to follow, you explain things clearly and give inspiration to creativity which is what I love. I have the tools and been inspired to have a go just like you have shown. Thank you so so much look forward to more posts ! have a great day x
Good afternoon. Wonderfully made. I am from the Netherlands and I have a hard time in buying the right tools. I work right now with diamand tools and for the softer tones with rubber tools, but the rubber tools are too soft and are wearing out. Because of that, the small points are vanishing and to do work that is precisely becomes hard. Where can I buy tools for the softer tones?
Great, thanks for doing the beginner tutorials. How did you find out about which burr you needed for each bit you did? That is what is confusing, so many bits with only a No. and no description of what it is used for...
Great video, but I'm looking forward to a tutorial video on what bits you used to make that Giant's plate. I really like the 3D look of that and I haven't been able to figure out how to do it.
ok i am clearly missing the tips i need for this :( but finally there is a video up on youtube explaining them step by step :) all of mine are diamond tip just with different size/shapes. i have a white tip one but its like a disk/block shape. or a very big round one. ty for uploading this, looking forward to seeing what you do next!
Where can I find cheap 3m masks and how often do you need to change them out if it's a disposable one? I've only found them for like $5 per mask and that's too much for just one use
do you have any idea to do the same thing with a trophy by the problem is how can I put the paper if you're the glass is too thick how about 1 inch and a half
Question: I just ordered one! Is it ok to use inside or will glass dust get everywhere? Is it necessary to wear safety wear? Thanks so much for this video!
Very good video! You did a great job explaining the steps and tools. One suggestion I have is you might want to proofread your accompanying text. I'm guessing you used a speech recognition device of sorts and several words were not the same as you spoke, autocorrect gets the best of all of us, eh? It was n't too big of a deal for me, mostly a distraction...but there are a couple points that the word printed took away from your point. For example, towards the end, you were using a Q-tip shaped bur. I didn't catch the name in your dialogue and the text didn't catch it either. At one other point you said the word 'shading' but the text reads 'sheathing' and in this setting, and as a beginner, the word sheathing could be a term relative to glass engraving so now I am not sure what this bur does or whether I am still in the shading step. Other than the text, this is one of the best instructional videos I've watched, and I have watched a ton about many topics. Thanks for posting, I can't wait to try it!
Hey Jovier like your videos so I thought I would try one for my self don't think I doing to bad but not real sure on what to highlight and what to shade don't know how to send you a pic of it so maybe you could help me out
+Robert Wheeler the easiest way is to imagine one light source. Say the sun. Whatever side you want the sun to hit first, or face, those are your highlights
You do a great job of getting between the showing everything we need to know and ff so we can see it, but not long winded by any means. If you had a 5 star rating system, I would give you 5. I have learned less from videos that go on for an hour!
I do it with mine too. It isn't a problem. All you are doing is carefully sticking paper, tracing paper, or even acetate sheet, (I have a massive roll), to the screen, and LIGHTLY tracing the drawing, with either an ink marker or a soft pencil. (HB or softer)If you have a relatively small monitor, you can lie it on its back for brief periods, while you do this, as long as you are careful, but note that if it is on a soft surface, like a bed, you may block the ventilation holes.
Beautiful! Much Inspiration... with 4 dremels, and Hundreds of burrs, and diamond bits, Chemical etching is Over... only sand blasted would make me change again.
Yes it would have been easier but why waste printer ink and extra electricity? plus he said by drawing it,it gives you an idea of what you are going to be doing.short cuts aren't always good because then you rely too much on them.if you don't have a printer then what would you do? have to draw it by hand.so why not get practice doing different things

what speed is your dremel set at? Is it different speeds for liner or shader? Thanks

Hola!! Qué brocas usas para líneas y cuál para relleno?? Me puedes ayudar? , tengo una Dremel 3000. Gracias!! un saludo desde Madrid
do you have any idea to do the same thing with a trophy by the problem is how can I put the paper if you're the glass is too thick how about 1 inch and a half
Thank you so much
What speed were you using please?
Question: I just ordered one! Is it ok to use inside or will glass dust get everywhere? Is it necessary to wear safety wear? Thanks so much for this video!
The dust is really fine. I'd suggest a mask and glasses.
This is very nice work, but what burr did you use the last time? Thank you for this video.
"Arkans-ass?". LOL. 😂 13:33
I cannot see what are you using for engraving . .may I have the name of the tool ???
nice man u helped me out thanks
What is the price of this machine?

Javier Melendez hey I found this site for all your needs of stones eternal tools.com mite check it out
why don't you use water ...??
You do a great job of getting between the showing everything we need to know and ff so we can see it, but not long winded by any means. If you had a 5 star rating system, I would give you 5. I have learned less from videos that go on for an hour!
The gray burr you mentioned, is it rubber, stone or...?
that's a grinding stone
+1SikMag that's a grinding stone
+Javier Melendez thanks man
Hi, Javer, and thanks for this video, it is so much help for absolute beginners like me, I am going to use this video again and again,
1SikMag
umm why not put the design paper on the inside and you wouldn't have to trace it
Void970 t
That's exactly what I do and it's much easier.
Void970 t he says it's for practice for beginners so you can practice following the image like you would as if you are etching.
this doesn't ruin your monitor?

the type of the machine plz
He is using a dremel...his first video says it was the dremel 200i? I think.
Beautiful! Much Inspiration... with 4 dremels, and Hundreds of burrs, and diamond bits, Chemical etching is Over... only sand blasted would make me change again.
Would it not have been easier to print the image of flower off then trace it instead of tracing from the laptop screen?
Yes it would have been easier but why waste printer ink and extra electricity? plus he said by drawing it,it gives you an idea of what you are going to be doing.short cuts aren't always good because then you rely too much on them.if you don't have a printer then what would you do? have to draw it by hand.so why not get practice doing different things
Me gusta el video, pero si dan la opción de ponerlo en español mejor,ok
Good example on how sometimes you need to have some lessons from an art instructor before ruining a perfectly good glass.
Interesting tutorial hugely spoiled by way too many ads.
👍
Try to make it with Stodoys plans :)
Do your stuff freehand.
what speed is your dremel set at? Is it different speeds for liner or shades? Thanks
