    NOT very clear, I have NO IDEA of what materials were used and how this would stick to the back of the glass?

    • @jimhallal2513

      Hi Jon generally you print, with your design mirrored, on clear vinyl (matte or gloss, doesn't really matter which) and then it is backed with white vinyl. They white vinyl MUST have a clear adhesive (you can't use a blockout white with grey adhesive for this). It is the back of the white vinyl that provides the white color background for the printed clear vinyl. The graphics are then applied second surface on the window, looking out. I have done this hundreds of times, and its especially useful if you do not have the capability of back printing white through your machine. Its a bit of work but the results are very nice.

      @@jimhallal2513 So to be clear, there is no actual adhesive on the front.. its just a "cling" effect from the clear vinyl and the white sticky vinyl is just used for the border.. is that correct? So it can be removed easily from the glass?

    • @jimhallal2513
      @jimhallal2513 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Taqmobile there is such a product as a static cling for short term promo items (fast food places use these quite frequently). For anything permanent, you would use an actual adhesive vinyl. The better the vinyl, the easier the eventual removal. Hope this makes sense....

      I believe it’s electrostatic, but I don’t see the point to mirrored , there was no need at all.

    • @kewlaf6933
      @kewlaf6933 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rafaelvalles9963 The mirrored is because you can only print to the one side of polyfilm and the other side is often a textured feel, not just smooth. This is common with things like control panel overlays, etc.

    I appreciate you making this video but a lot of details are left out here. I've watched this like 5 times and own a sign co myself, many steps and details are let out. Could you update or at-least provide more details in description for future viewers.

      Absolutely :) Maybe you guys could touch on the laminating process more it really was mentioned in the beginning and never really explained, then I'm curious to if you using a static cling or what other type of material/vinyl. I use Versaworks everyday and I noticed you mirror to print then didn't mention that your cutting the same graphics but upside down. A lot of people seem to be confused on the materials used tho, so clarifying that might help clear up details with most of the other comments.

      Hello Jeff, We used Orafol 3650 Digital Clear Vinyl Material for printing, this is a self adhsieve material, we printed this in Reverse / Mirror and backed it up through the laminator with 3650 White Vinyl Material also self adhsieve, this creates the White background that allow us to apply a finished opaque sticker for Glass Application, hope this helps, we can send you a sample if you like ?

      @@SignageWow Hi Jeff you should mention what I stated above to Jon Murray, the white vinyl cannot have a blockout grey adhesive, it must be a clear adhesive so the backside of the white vinyl can show through correctly.

    Clear as mud! I can only assume that you are using clear vinyl & have a white ink printer?.
    An explanation would have been good. Otherwise a good video.

      paul david I think they print mirrored on clear, then laminate with white as background. That's why they protect the Reg marks and cut the sticker out backwards. Thus giving an effect it was printed on white. The layers would be: sticky side of clear, graphic printed backwards on other side of clear, then an over laminate of white. Hope that makes sense. :)

      Hi Vic, there wasn't actually a laminate used, simply backed up with white vinyl, but yep, that's how it was created.

    Hmm there is 2 material used .. first print on the transparent sticker.. second apply the sticker with lamination layer..
    So while U peeling the sticker u can use the printed side in the glass.. am I right?

    Just to be clear, when printing on windowcling you print on the same side of the media that is being applied to the face of the glass? Such that the dry ink is touching the glass?
