    Just a tip- one of my favorite uses for the clear adhesive vinyl is on my business cards. I don't use them often, so I designed my own and laser printed them onto decent card stock, then used my electronic cutting machine to cut them. Unfortunately, the toner would rub off in my bag, which made them look crappy. To remedy that issue, I put a layer of clear vinyl over the whole sheet before I cut it, making sure to burnish it down well. They come out gorgeous, and stay that way! I can cut a sheet of 10 whenever I need them. I hope this gives someone a bit of inspiration!

    I used my Cricut Maker and cut a permanent holographic adhesive vinyl to put my name on a Hydroflask and Yeti. However, Holographic vinyl scratches, so I want to protect it with a permanent clear adhesive vinyl that I cut the same shape/name but slightly larger and place over the holographic vinyl. Is this what I would use and would I use Oracal 651 clear, or what would I use? These are powdered coated surfaces, so I want to make sure it sticks. Thank you

      So clear vinyl will work but could "dull" the look. Go with an optically clear laminate such as Avery or 3M and it wont "dull" the image so much.

    Nice tips, I stayed more interested on the part about not printing the white color. So, supposing I have white parts on a logo, for example, and going to print that on a cleat vinyl (adhesive), your suggestion would be changing it for gray scale, right (and I am not talking about background)? Because I really wanna understand/know all possible solutions to fill this gap. Thanks so much.

    • @eagleeyesigns
      @eagleeyesigns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok so you have white in a logo and you can't print white. Then if your customer is agreeable then you can change that to the lightest beige or gray to print. Because if printing the lightest color the machine will still you all 4 colors since your machine doesn't have white. For example you could use a cool grey 1c or pantone 663c. These are super light and if a logo has white in it then most likely most customer won't know the difference. So if it was me, I would print a Pantone color chart from your printer and then find the lightest color on your chart that your printer can print. I hope this was helpful.

    I'm trying to make custom instrument cluster overlays because I'm a speedometer repair tech. I need clear vinyl with white but the cost for the kind of set up I need is outrageous. Think I need to learn about that barrier film. Would have to be applied only in the middle, because the edges have spots for warning lights that are supposed to be clear.

    • @eagleeyesigns
      @eagleeyesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      So printing with white is very expensive! Question, why don't you use white vinyl and print the other colors?

    • @autumnjeserich2689
      @autumnjeserich2689 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Eagle Eye Signs the insicator lamps turn signals ect. need to be clear because the body of the cluster being dark makes them close to impossible to see until illuminated amongst the black area. But if they were black they wouldn't allow much light through. So I'm wondering If I can just use a white backing on just the parts that need to be white. What needs to be white and what needs clear don't overlap at all. I watched your video on barrier film and that wouldn't work for the white purpose simply because light needs to get through to illuminate the guages at night

    • @eagleeyesigns
      @eagleeyesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      Then you want to use Translucent white. This will give it the white and then allow it to illuminate

    I have some StarCraft permanent CLEAR adhesive vinyl. I am not really sure what to do with it! Could I print on it?
    Can you give me an idea of what it is used for? I want to use it!

    • @eagleeyesigns
      @eagleeyesigns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not sure of the brand of the vinyl. You should be able to print on it if it will accept your type of printer such as eco solvent or uv. We use clear adhesive when a customer wants a decal but doesn't want to see the "backer" such as white vinyl. Just remember when using clear vinyl and when you print on it your inks become transparent.

    • @robira1313
      @robira1313 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eagleeyesigns - I do not have an eco-solvent printer. Just a plain inkjet. Looks like I'll just have to use the clear vinyl as a laminate.

    • @eagleeyesigns

      So of those are printed on clear however, most back window graphics are printed on window perf. This allows you to cover the whole window and still see out of it.
