With Riku trying to one-up his beginner self, the HG Gundam 00 Diver Arc also tries to one-up its previous variants. While visually it does exactly that, the same cannot be said functionally. The light-absorbing resin isn't really that special from normal clear pieces, and the drives and everything to do with them are loose. I really wanted to like this version of the 00 Diver, and visually I do. However, when you try to reinvent the wheel and produce something worse, it will drag whatever foundation it's built on down with them.

First one. I had high hopes for this. But still feel like a great kit and nothing some craft glue can't fix. We don't usually get minimal blue styled kit which have clear uv reactive parts all over the body especially this cool green ones. I can let of of minor issues. As for fins on backpack while this is great and those fins do come in the way I can either cut them or just no use any other backpack untill I really want to.

2500¥ it's still crazy to me, this kit should be 1800¥ imo
2000 yen is the max since that's what the 00 Raiser costs. And yet, this has less stuff to do compared to that kit, even worse for the fact that what it can do cannot be handled by the kit sufficiently
I'm getting two of these. One for straight build and another for a custom i've had in the back burner. While i am disappointed that the resin doesn’t glow, it does make resin casting less regretable.
It's more how they named the resin that's the issue, further worsened by translations making them sound like they glow in the dark.
@mj2005gundam yeah. I'm not too disappointed tho. The kit still looks awesome.
The only Metaverse kit i actually planned on getting. But ended up getting Sekai, Sei, and Hiroto's as well XD
All the main protags have good Metaverse units undoubtedly
I like the color scheme, the purple-ish blue looks great with the white and yellow, but I don't get why it has Demi Trainer-esque shoulders lol
The shoulders are carried over from the original 00 Diver, though the paint scheme inspired by the AGE II Magnum is definitely stunning
I am going to get that. Also for the connection to the GN diver arc sword, perhaps I can topcoat the connection before put into it for stable connection. It is a shame that the backpack connection is no longer universal because of the protrusion as I was hoping to get two to make a red 00 Diver Arc custom, but I can use the knee armor and switch the GN sword II blades for the super GN swords.
Great althought I was gonna go for using craft glue it tightens up the joints and u can remove it easily. I think u can remove fins just don't attach them. Or u can cut the fins have normal. Backpack
You can just topcoat the joints as I did mine. The grip is very solid after that. The backpack though, you'd have to cut the fins off or do some mods to omit them as everything that's blue on the original 00 Diver is excluded from this kit
@@mj2005gundam i think u can just not attach the fin parts I saw those seamlines in your video the other part of backpack should hold
I fully forsee someone making a mod kit for this, that'll at least fix the shoulders and the drive connection points. That being said, I still am going to try to get this. Of all of the kits, this was the one that did catch my eye the most, alongside exceed galaxy. Just is a shame that it seems like there were some downgrades in the process of making the 00 Diver Arc.
I feel like they felt satisfied after re-engineering the head, to then make new connections for the drives and whatnot, and then messed it up. Like, the least they could do is somehow work the PC joints the original 00 units used for the binders into the Arc and maintain a solid connection that's still easy to take off
I never like the 00 Diver, and it's variant for being a cheap cash grab. But this is a variant that I can accept for being simple yet innovative with its clear parts
At least they tried to incentivize people with the clear parts
Can you still use the 00 Raiser leg units to get those GN condensers on the sides of the knees, or are there part conflicts/missing parts?
You can, and no there won't be any conflicting or missing parts except you need to give the condensers some sort of backing like a black underlayer or something like that
@mj2005gundam perfect, I was planning on laying some Molotow Liquid Chrome under them to simulate what they did dor Build Fighters kits based on 00 designs.
I'm baffled at their choice of not putting the round peghole hinge polycaps to connect the GN Drive shoulder binders, and using flat pegs instead. Flat pegs don't go well with torsional stress, they can break really easy if you twist them wrong 🤔🤔🤔
Exactly what I meant by them reinventing the wheel. And guess what, it made the kit worse
@@mj2005gundam Just be careful when rotating the binders. Or even better, try to swap it with peghole hinge polycaps, and do some modification to the pegs so that they can accommodate round pegs.
So the best choices for a 00 are still the Raiser with GN Sword 3 or Condenser Type, Seven Sword or vanilla Diver in your opinion?
Correct, except change vanilla Diver to the Diver Ace. The Arc is a 2500-yen kit for its looks primarily, as the gimmicks are just wonky

@@williamsusanto8082I mean.. There's only one if you don't include Build. Still, the vanilla, Shia, and Command Qan[T] are all decent to great kits
Burst effect parts makes me want to upgrade the true King-mode effect on Aegis Knight kit.

what are your thoughts on the c-clip to ball opening sections on the gn drives? i felt like bandai couldve just use a peg and hole here but for whatever reason introduce a 3rd part just to put the balls. the shape of the gn drive middle effect parts are too radical for my taste, and the outer effects not lining up to the blue part infuriates me, same goes with the fins on the backpack with those weird bends. imo i'd just clip those off
The opening mechanism is fine I guess. I don't really have any problems with that. The middle effects might be in reference of the T-Bits of the Thieleva, and the outer bits line up perfectly. It's just how they're connected to the body that infuriates me

got any seed astray NG 1/100? would like some up to date reviews on those kits. Like the regen duel and buster, etc..
I personally don't have any, and they are absent from UK shelves. I'll have to get them mailed over if luck has it that they're available somewhere

You absolutely should get an HG 00 Gundam variant. That kit was like the golden standard of HGs until kits of the late 2010s were a thing

I’ll probably get this for my custom 00 wing zero custom Orion gundam plus I’ll cut off the back spike and use those spike for something else
Do you mean the fins or the beam spike? Either way, that sounds like a great custom
@@mj2005gundam Yeah the fin that’s what it is I’ll remove it to makes full use of the backpack connector and use the fin for somewhere else because I don’t think having it there is a good idea
Aren't 00 diver ace unit has 2 same blue extension? Maybe it can equip it but it looks probably weird.
Yes it comes with two extenders, and yes you can use that to overcome the backpack fins, but it will 100% look weird and further weigh the kit down
Are the ankle armors loose like the original?
Yeah, they are
Its seems like the 00 have a constant problem holding his melee weapons, even the máster grade can't hold the gn swords without feeling really loose.

Not unless the weapon has to lock into the arm or have just the right handle size
All the reviews I've seen about the 00 Diver Arc and the Plutine end on a pretty vague note? From what you said this seems like a pretty good building experience and kit but... also not???
Good build experience, yes; expectations are misplaced for the resin due to bad naming and translation; though the posing experience is just frustrating. Look at these aspects separately and what I'm saying becomes a lot clearer

This is giving me Gundam 00 Qan T Vibes
In fact, it draws heavily from some early concepts of the 00 Qan[T]. The binder buster swords are reminiscent of the Full Saber as well

I am SURE Riku's favorite season of Gundam is 00 because my god, this kid has so many different versions and while this one may look cool especially with all of the blades, the issues are a bit too strong to ignore. Great job on this review, yes I popped immediately after commenting on the other video and finally that lil octopus guy was glowing angy that the gundam has no resin buiit in to the blades. Seriously, that is adorable.
"No new glowy friend, angy..." I'm glad you enjoyed that touch from what is supposed to be a demonstration of glow-in-the-dark.
And if I'm honest, Riku didn't stick with the 00 for his love for the anime series, but rather his sentiment towards the 00 Gundam as the HG literally summoned him to it for his first GBN build.
The issues of this kit really drag the whole package down though NGL

at least move on to the suit upgrades. i'll never understand why most of the MCs of build series kept using the same base suit even when its such an old kit and bandai had to reuse the really old molds over and over
@@razrafz I've made it very clear in the video that the 00 base isn't to blame for the kit's problems, but the new parts they introduced new mechanics to. Them reusing original kits from S2 00 onwards is fine in my books, as they stand the test of time
00 diver arc was not bad kit but....
The gimmick making whole GN drive as sword is kind questionable for me since it was the main generator of MS. 🗿
And the colour is not match out the box for mix match with other 00 kit 🗿
Those two minus is really downside in my opinion 🗿
Well, if you are gonna mix and match, you can just repaint them. The swords are questionable, I do agree with that
no have idea to buy this one, because effect parts look fragile.
The effect parts are fine. You're not really supposed to bend or crush them as it is. The structural rigidity of the kit itself on the other hand, is what I'd discourage a purchase with

If only there is a Build series where a kid gets the same obsession with the design of the Lfrith/Aerial as Iori's obsession with the design of the Strike or Riku's obsession with the 00 so we can finaly get the build variant of the best HG designs to date and not some old kit that needs a redesign but never get one anyway
There is a restriction that new Gundam series cannot be involved in Build for 5 years, so whatever they will do with Build in 2027, that's G-Witch's time to shine

Same like the shin burning, i glad didn't purchase this one because turns out the clear part it's not really what i was expecting.
Well, I gave it the benefit of the doubt because I like to test things. But whosever fault it falls on, a lot of people expected this to glow in the dark, which it sadly does not
Is it just me, or does every gunpla from Riku after the original divers series feel disappointing? Model kit wise
There's so much potential but it's not being used very well! The functionality is good but the looks just don't work
