This is white oratex but yes, you can paint over it. Try to go as light as you can if you want to keep the fabric texture visible.

Boys, Girls, Ladies, Gentlemen and anyone I left out, unless you can build a plane that looks better than Mr Orchard's P47 I suggest he has something to teach the rest of us. If you can build a prettier airplane leave us a link to one of your build videos we would all love to watch it.

You are very kind. I assure you there are MANY folks out there who are able to make detailed scale models. I agree that others are welcome to link to their own artwork as this is how we all can learn together.

i have a piper how did you do the hinges for the ailerons,

There are many different ways to do this. It really depends on how "scale" you want to go. The simplest way is to bevel the leading edge of the aileron and place pin hinges (DUBRO part number 116) in the middle of the mating surfaces. The bevel will allow the aileron's deflection along the hinge line.
Alternatively, for a more scale look, you can round the leading edge of the aileron and use hinges (DUBRO part number 937) where you would cut a slot in the leading edge for the hinge to sit offset from where the aileron meets the trailing edge of the wing. You would then add 1/64" ply sheeting over the gap creating a pocket at the trailing edge of the wing creating a more finished, and scale, look. Blending the 1/64" ply into the wing requires some light sanding into the wing but works very well. The rounded leading edge of the aileron should then be checked for clearance with the 1/64" ply to make sure there is no binding. Depending on how things go, either trim the ply, or sand down the aileron more.
The hinges suggested above are just examples of style of hinge as a suggestion. There are different sizes of hinges for application in different size models. Robart makes great hinges as well. Hope this helps!
