- This was a highly requested playthrough of the Zelda II Adventure of Link remaster by Hoverbat. The video is on the long side, but I spent a lot of time exploring the new changes.

This playthrough has been lightly edited. Some walkbacks and unfruitful wandering were edited out for brevity.
Hope you enjoy it! - เกม

@LackAttack
I must admit it was funny to watch someone who was obviously and expert at the original constantly f*ck up in this because you made so many assumptions as to where everything would be and that it would be the same.
@@ymeynot0405 yeah lots of differences, which was a good thing! Fun to have a new experience

Note Spoilers at the bottom if you want to avoid them.
Well you earned another subscriber, and I'll have to find you on Twitch.
I hope you go back and play second quest sometime... get the maps early and make sure every square is visible on the screen so you can see everything. Hoverbat redesigned the game so it would be harder at the start and easier at the end (if you got everything)
You are so skilled at the game I hope you try it with the randomizer on, and put the keys in there if you are a real masochist. But with the randomization things like the fire spell to light torches and extra caves to by pass item lockouts keep the game fair. Example - you can get from the north to the south of the first continent with: the Jump spell & Hammer per usual, but you can also do it with (Fire spell, Power Bracelet, or Glove)
If you didn't realize: (It was hard to tell with the cuts)
The necklace restored mana/magic over time
The red Fairy took health (about 2 blocks) when it saved your life. (it wasn't X times per room)
A list of what you missed (but not where) Spoilers:

Master Sword
King's Shield
Bait Meat
Mask
Cucu Spell (no one ever finds it without looking it up or searching every square.

Can't get the sound to work
It's 103 degrees outside. Perfect day to stay in and watch a massive playthrough of a Zelda game!
Or to take a massive dump!
@@EnjoySackLunch Good idea, I’ll do just that.
Or even on a -20 degree day
You guys don’t really watch all 4 hours of this do you? Please tell me you don’t lol
@@brianmeen2158 don’t judge people on how they spent their time. I’m sure you spend 4 hours plenty of times doing things others find ridiculous but you find rewarding.
Zelda 2 is such an underrated game, and the combat doesn't get enough credit. Even all these *decades* later, gamers with many years of experience playing games struggle with the combat even though the game doesn't really do anything cheap. The enemies are simply designed very well.
that blue guy who throws the knives is CHEAP. also that red guy who throws the axes... CHEAP.
@@ronartest7748 They're pretty easy to deal with especially with the jump stab method.
I'm not attempting it again lol zelda 2 is a spectator sport 😅 for me anyway I'll admit I can't do it 😅😢
@@ronartest7748 everytime you attack him you jumpattack him and DOWNSTRIKE with your sword, not a downthrust which is under link, u hold down and sideways + attack, this does a crouch attack in midair, allowing u to basically trick the shield block ull hit everytime.
as a lifelong zelda nes fan 1 and 2.. this is a sick rendition.
Where do u play this😊
@@enamias link in the description. or see the pinned comment.
Always good to see the Lack Attack is back and on track. Thanks Jack.
It’s a Hack snack pack
17:40 - the perfect timing of "yeah I don't need Mega Man with my Zelda" immediately before the yoku blocks section
This project has come a very long way, thanks to you for playing it and to hoverbat for giving the best Zelda game some much needed tlc
This remaster is amazing! Good to see you Lack!
I remember my brother beating that game back in the 80’s to this day he still beating every game he gets his hand on. The crazy amount of games under his belt is f-in crazy.
2nd quest is a literal S-ton more material.... a must play. Everything from Dark link on is CRAZY
Didn’t know this! Thanks
@@B0redom13 The only thing is that you have to start from SCRATCH!
@@fredbecerra1608Not quite - you still have your magic spells, level ups, and up and down thrust.
@@Damariobros Thank you for the correction
How online gaming goes for me.... "Just a second, the kids are hurting themselves, or each other, or the house."
This remake really is amazing. So much extra content and still the spirit of the old game.
GG, Lack. Always great to see you.
I remember this game when it first came out. This music brings back my child hood.
This takes me back! 👍
GG on completing the first play-through. Looking forward to the second!
The Erdrick reference makes me unreasonably happy
Elf Town FF1
i will be watching this on the side as i work from home all day tomorrow thanks!
super excited
The disappearing blocks to get to the trophy made me instantly think of Double Dragon II.
This was super enjoyable to watch. I'd totally watch another playthrough of this.
I think this was my favorite Zelda/Link game.
Sick remake. I just got led to this channel somehow through the algorithm and, very cool, Im totally subbed. First video Ive seen and I def wanna check out the other stuff you did. Great stuff
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope to get some new stuff out soon
Watched this video last night and really appreciate the way you played that remaster : peacefully 😁 GG for your skill 😉
Haha. I was waiting for you to play this game. Love your play throughs.
Haha.
A 4 hour lack video I’m watching on the 4th of July??? What did I do to deserve this?? Awesome is all I can say ❤
Happy 4th 🇺🇲🇺🇲
Looking forward to play along for my very first time aswell soonish, thx 🙌!
This has been so cool to watch! Loving it.
This is am awesome remaster of an amazing classic. GG.
As a kid i played this so much everyday and learned a lot of the things on my own without a book or internet...all i had was an older brother of a friend of mine that would give tips cuz he played it too but overall I just explored and died a lot and just kept playing...finally I got to some barrier and I tried everything like turning into a fairy to get thru but never was able so I never finished it as a kid :( later on I watched lets plays and finally saw how so now knowing this exists its bringing back memories and now I have a chance to play this with new content as an adult :)...thank you!
It's so good! Hope you enjoy it
Man, Ive forgot how ruthless Zelda 2 was. Still traumatized by Death Mountain so early in the game!
Thanks for making this! I watched this entire thing while I was on the toilet. So great
Are you OK
@@LackAttack I tried some Coconut Oil Cleanse I saw on this bodybuilder dudes IG and totally messed up and got the dosage all wrong. I’m actually thinking about taking a visit to the Emergency Room. Ever go through anything like this? What do you think I should do? Honestly
Great videos. Finally someone gives ZII and SMB2 the love they deserve!
That was a proper miniboss guard for the master key.
I always wondered why they did not use the hardest boss more of the temples before the last one.
I really love all the nice graphical touches in this.
as much as i loved the og zelda 2 back in the day, this remake is way better. great video
You make this very difficult game seem easy. For every 10 mins of screen time in your video, it takes me an hour.
Always love your YT videos. Try to catch you as much as I can on twitch.
Great video man enjoyed it !
I love seeing you suffer through a game for once. You make it look so easy
Well I got my 4 hours set lol. I hope you beat the game and did the 2nd play through for the extra content. I'll have to wait and see
Pretty cool! Thanks for sharing! I'll need to play this one day! :D
Dude perfected an already great game.
I have a confession this game has always creeped me out. It's just weird to me
As zelda lover. This game used to creep me out as well. I did not beat this game until I was in my third year of college
He'll yeah! Lack is back!! Love this dude!!
if i remember correctly from Vinny's stream, the game was reverse engineered from Zelda's 2 actual code.
Greetings from the BIG SKY of Montana. When I left NOA I returned to Montana. This game came out at that time. I always liked the music in this game. My Nintendo Power magazine had a good map of this game.
In parapa desert, use kick kick punch and don't get diarrhea!
is that from parapa the raper?
As I'm watching this, I had to pause because I'm dying at the chicken part LOLOLOLOLOLOL!
Oh, and as for the Erdrick thing, in the original Final Fantasy game, there was a tombstone that says something like "Here lies Erdrick" and I think that Square did this as a bit of a jab at Enix who were rivals at the time. If memory serves me correctly, after Square and Enix merged, they released updated versions and instead said "Here lies Link". I figured that this is just a nod to that. It would also be tough to incorporate the characters of Final Fantasy as they had no canonical names, as far as I know. They are just the warriors of light and the player names them before the start of the quest.
Very cool upload. Thanks!
Shoutout to @hoverbat great job on the remake/remaster/reimagining
I would have been so disappointed if they didn't leave Error in the game lol
Good to see you posting bro.....
I loved Zelda 2. Man this remixed game looks awesome
I'm convinced that Lack and Willard J Bradley are the same person.
46:18 “don’t be a clown, stab down”
cool game and super playthrough
Bro is like the dark souls player of zelda lmao the reaction timing is insane
I am here for this heresy.
lmfao I kept hearing your kids thinking it was mine screaming
Nope, just mine 🤣
Lack is BACK! 💪😎✌️
No idea they remastered this ....however even though I'm currently trying to play all zelda games this one 😅 I will only watch so thank you 😊
I agree with you on the free form stuff. I want a super difficult 2D Zelda game
I love this version of the game and the enhanced music gives of Castlevania vibes.
Never played Zelda II. If this is more forgiving than it was I’d have zero chance.
I'd say this is wayyy more forgiving. Much less unnecessary backtracking in case of a mistake
@ProtoManZero I meant I’d have zero chance at the original. Why would I start with this? I thought I heard him say it was easier than the original at one point. People getting mad for no reason.
we need part 2!!!
👀
The towns have a actual background is the difference 😂
ggs 🎉 thx for playing
when he got into the third palace He said in like Flynn....was that a reference to Tron, 1984, breaking into Encom?
Get all the pots and "p" bags everywhere!!!!
I completely beat this game a few months back, and it is an absolute masterpiece. The only fan game I’d say compares to it would be AM2R. But this is ridiculously well made.
I wish they'd do a 16 bit render of this...
@@Clyde-S-Wilcox that would be quite an undertaking. The game is absolutely massive. I’ll probably replay this game as long as I have the ability to do so, just how I do with the original The Legend of Zelda, etc.
Wow the remake is pretty awesome 👏 zelda 2 is one of my favorite Zelda games
I cant watch this anymore. Hurts to much
It’s like Zelda, SMB and Mega Man had a baby.
OMG where do you get this?! I'm a HUGE fan of!
As for the babies screaming in the back, we are in the same shoes :D
Just letting the world know I share the joy of raising young kids!
welcome sir
The original game is timeless, and good in its own right, but the additions for this version make the game so much more immersed
100% agree
Yeah, this wouldn't be able to be run on the original hardware. Even if you could fit the new assets into a cart, the hardware would likely not be able to render all of the additional graphics to the larger screen. The game only renders so many tiles and adding the additional tiles that are not rendered because that content would be off the screen I imagine would be far beyond the original hardware's capabilities.
That said, this does look like a very fun remake.
Appreciate the cuts 🖖
There's definitely an ultimate second ending on second quest. Hopefully he plays it again.
I still have my SNES and Super Advantage controller and the game. Power Magazine too.
Zelda 2 was always my favorite.
protect, protect, protect and protect
forso_ here, i did miss the live stream so thanks for the upload !!
I also downloaded it so thanks for the link too !!!
It's an amazing game!
This is what Nintendo should be doing with all of their 8bit and 16bit games, instead it's down to fans.
This new version is great
PaRappa the Rapper was sooo sick. I only had the demo disc. 😢
I got a good laugh at you saying you dont need Mega Man in your Zelda only to instantly run into the infamous disappearing blocks from Mega Man lol
Epic timing
What a fantastic upgrade to the original. Speedrun when?
32:30 equals Clutch City
Just to show, being an 'expert' at Zelda II don't mean much when the game itself changes but keeps the same mechanics. It's all about repetitions. Looks fun.
Yeah even though I had played the original hundreds of times, this still presented a fun challenge
You probably figured it out by now but whenever monsters are walking across it's not death water, other than those vertical fish guys.
The original always drove me nuts.
This game was a pain in the ass
I remember being a teenager when this came out and everyone was complaining about the side scrolling but most of the people that said that never even played it. Like people that say they hate sushi but never ate a piece of it.i loved this game and still do
Zelda 2 is an all timer!
So much added content.
Amazing.
Now Nintendo officialize this.
Erdrick is Dragon Warrior series btw.
Let's go!!!
This reminds me of The Battle of Olympus
What controller did you use? I tried it with my SN30 Pro and couldn’t get all the buttons to work or map. Am I dumb?
What is the quickest way to get downward thrust?
