Man reminds me back in the day at my old locals before they closed down. I was playing shadow pal and this kid came in thinking he was real good and we went back and forth in our set for the tournament that day. Like last round final hit final damage because we both got a heal and we both had like 12 or something crit going it was so many double crits lol

There have been many times where I say "What are the odds you'll pull double criticals" and then I get triple crit hit

Dark States players can always find their OT in the soul, but never during the drive/damage check.

I remembered when I played in boarding school I was top 3 in that school between the 3 I was the luckiest player(the top was obviously the most skilled and versed one) I usually get double triggers. I've also got like 2 times(each different matches) back to back heals agaisnt 2 critical triggers. Miss those days I used the wings of destruction if Im not mistaken one with the stride skill which put all of your drop cards back to deck. Those were the days🥺😭

Overtrigger is arguably the “Maxx C” of Vanguard just because of how much advantage it gives.
You know I've triple crit a fair bit myself but it's still hilarious every time

How does overtrigger work when it appears in a drive check and how does it work when it appears in a damage check?
Please answer my question so i know how it works.
When the overtrigger is revealed for either a drive or damage check, you remove the card from the game, choose a unit and give it 100million power, then draw a card.
If you reveal the card during a drive check, you activate the additional effect (varying by nation/card).

See, this right here is why everyone hates the Overtrigger, and why nobody who plays other card games takes Vanguard seriously. No serious competitive game would allow the existence of a card that just instantly wins (or loses) the game for you by pure, random chance.
At this point, I'm convinced that Bushi is well aware of how grossly unpopular the OT is with players and how bad of a decision it was, but refuse to budge, because they've bet all their chips on the OT by making it an integral part of standard (by definition the default and therefore most important format) as well as the anime (their primary means of marketing Vanguard to new players).
The OT isn't truthful that bad. It's a new thing sure but sometimes you gotta respect the checks 🤷🏾♂️
I think its more for the people that feel intimidated by “competitive games” and just wanna jump in and play some cards with friends.
The ceiling of crazy stuff is what attracts people, like rolling a nat 20 in DnD.
However in actual competitive play (at least Premium), the OT shouldn’t be present

For a casual game, the OT isn't a huge deal, and can actually be pretty exciting, because the goal is to have fun and maybe reenact some dramatic anime moments and make you feel like an anime protagonist. But in a serious, competitive tournament, the OT is the absolute worst as it completely trivializes players' skill and 1000 other reasons lots of people have brought up plenty of times before.
@@UberPwner09 Yeah it should be banned in Premium and i personally think in Standard it should get an errata to the power. Either to base 10k or have it be 30k or 50k because you can realistically still guard those and can guard it with the 50k shield OT itself.
@@michaeltrevino8234 They're never gonna ban it in standard. That'd be an outright admission that the OT was a horrible idea that never worked from the start, and they can't have that. It'd be more tolerable for them to consider a premium ban, cuz they can use the "Oh, we didn't know how abuseable the OT was with older cards, since we made this for standard" excuse. But the OT is too deeply ingrained into Overdress' design philosophy; not to mention it's an integral part of the anime, which is Bushi's primary means of marketing the card game to new players. How many times have the characters managed to pull off a big, dramatic, anime comeback thanks to the OT? Imagine how awkward it would be for the characters to suddenly be told they can't use it anymore cuz it was banned for being too strong. Yeah, not gonna happen.
That being said, I would love to see an Overdress episode where one of the characters actually brings up the inherent unfairness and anti-competitive nature of the OT after losing a game to it, despite having more skill than his opponent. If the anime can show players buying booster boxes and deliberately bringing rogue/anti-meta/meme decks to tournaments, then God willing, they might someday do that.

Tbf, the over did nothing; it was a glorified critical.
If not an OT, it would’ve been a Draw or Front trigger due to the Critical limitation in Standard. Still came in clutch 💪
