This is a beautiful and satisfying piece of engineering, I look forward to seeing it in real life one day. I like the idea of a clock being loud and just a little frightening, making you acutely aware of the seconds passing away, death's hand on your shoulder.
I do believe we have here the portal to a new era in artful design. The old clockmakers could do magic indeed, but this is new ground again. Stellar effort and imagination to be sure. R.J.Renaud
What a fantastically beautiful device for showing time bot literally and metaphorically. The most impressive aspect of it is that it is mechanical! Cheers to the inventor.
I'm suddenly reminded of the many things I need to get done today, I need this clock. I can only imagine the things I'd get done if I could imagine feeding every minute to the Chronophage.
It's beautiful. A fine example of both craftsmanship and ingenuity. It also serves a fairly grizzly reminder that time is always moving, and we'll never get it back. To all who have helped in the process of making this, my hat's off to you.
Just found this video. Wow. What an amazing mechanism. At the description of the vernier slits in the wheels, my jaw dropped. I pictured lights going on and off around the outside, not a wheel moving through only six degrees each second. What an amazing, beautiful thing.
Wow this is amazing. If a scaled down version of this ever hit the market I would definitely thinking about buying it. I'd love to have that in my house. Fantastic work.
What a wonderfully creative way to tell the time! The creature, although not attractive to my eye, is fantastic to behold. The membrane over the eye that shuts every now and then, plus the system set up so that the lights appear to move. The whole piece is incredible, applause for the creator!!
I wasn't very impressed at first until I saw that the LEDs are constantly lit, and the perceived "movement" is achieved through the slits. I'm more than impressed, even ashamed at my initial reaction. Amazing, inspiring work, especially in this digital age.
i really like the design, and the menace of it, serves as a reminder that time will march foward no matter what, and has the air of unease reflecting an unknown future. good to see clock design tackled in such an untraditional fashion.
When I first heard about the clock via some news article, there was only a static image to view and I wasn't very impressed. However, since seeing this video I am now blown away and can see what the big deal is. My favourite part is when the seconds indicator light is zooming around every second (especially in the dark). I think what is really effective about this clock is that it does make one stop and think how quickly time is being consumed away. Verily man is in loss. Make the most of now.
that clock is awesome. I so want one of those in my room. Adn the chronophage title fits it. Its extremely magnificient in looks and complexity. I love it!
Both beautiful and profound! Congratulations on a marvellous creation. The clock has an almost haunting mystical feel to it which somehow reminds us of our mortality.
Its so complex and intresting just to watch. It does not even look of this world. The details looks as though it was built by multiple civilizations. This is truly a work of art and technology. Vary Impressive!
this mechanism is insane! I love it, and the grasshopper is such a nice creative touch. i would really want one, a small one with the same principle mechanism.
So innovative... and it is captivating to watch. Thank you for *your* time in helping us stretch our imaginations and look at the clock in a different light. Bravo.
I love this inside-out-ness. The way you describe the works makes me think of a mechanical odometer. I'm going to have to try my hand at making a clock following this general design.
Part of the awesomeness of this world is not having to put 500K pounds and 7 years into building a thing of beauty and wonder, and allowing someone who wants to to do it. We get to enjoy that which we like and pass on that which we do not. We are assured that the 500K pounds and the 7 years of labor spent on this masterpiece diminished neither our own resources nor our time, but we still get to admire it. This world = win.
It really makes you think about time. I like this clock - very unique and for some strange reason the sound of the clock didn't bother me like a tick-tick clock does. The english guy commentating adds a certain sophistication as well. Good job.
It's beautiful... a little scary, but beautiful. It's nice to know people are still trying to make things aesthetically cool without focusing too much on the sleek-simplicity we've come to attach to efficency...
The movement is especially beautiful on this piece, and the detail, wow! I want a miniature version. Sounds like it would be too loud for me to be around it very long though :)
Brilliant. This is absolutely brilliant. How often in daily life to we sit down and ponder something like the passing of time? Not enough, I'll wager. Thanks to you for your dedication and hard work to create the ideal exemplar of time and its passing! Cheers~!~
A clock has never really tweaked my imagination like this outside of the obvious, yet cliche symbolism. This thing drives the symbolism home with a sledgehammer while showing respect for older near-perfect technologies by only invoking the blue LED of our time and that's what really makes it an amazing work of art.
I think that the coolest thing about this clock is the mix of old and new technologies. The design is amazing. Though I will say that is the scariest grasshopper I have ever seen.
I like this clock because it makes me think of all the work people put into it. It also looks really cool. It's too bad some people don't see the beauty of it.
Thats truly an a mazing clock. Thank you for building such a fantastic time piece. I wish I had more room on my yacht for such a clock I would consider commissioning two of them. One for myself and one for the city of Seattle. I hope everyone gets a chance to see this a mazing clock. I have to run, there is very little time left.
I love the sounds it makes, and the movement is sort of hypnotizing.. in fact it's totally wonderful. Unfortunately i don't live in UK, otherwise i would come to see it immediately.
Brilliant! I'd run right out to see it, only I don't think I can wade across the Atlantic. Thanks for putting this up for those of us who can't afford an airline ticket to the UK. It's definitely on my list of things to see when I do visit. Wow, very cool.
What a beautiful piece of engineering. The details on the Chronophage are exquisite. If anyone knows where I can purchase an exact replica at probably 1/4 or less scale, I'll save my pennies in preparation. It would be an incredible functional conversation piece in my library.
What a beautiful piece of work. Absolutely fascinating. I wonder if smaller household models will be available for purchase someday. I'd surely like to have one in my house. Mechanical clocks are becoming rare nowadays.
I want one for my wrist!
This is absolutely mental, I'm so glad there's people like Dr. Taylor - out there, doing their thing.
A thing of absolute beauty - on more levels than most mortals, including myself, can contemplate. Thank you.
That is fantastic. The Chronophage is a nice touch - it gives a sense of the inevitability of time passing.
This is a beautiful and satisfying piece of engineering, I look forward to seeing it in real life one day. I like the idea of a clock being loud and just a little frightening, making you acutely aware of the seconds passing away, death's hand on your shoulder.
WOW,I salute you Sir Jon Taylor for giving the world an awasome and amazing piece of Art.
I do believe we have here the portal to a new era in artful design. The old clockmakers could do magic indeed, but this is new ground again.
Stellar effort and imagination to be sure.

Technological genius excites my soul. This clock is a brilliant technological art piece.
What a fantastically beautiful device for showing time bot literally and metaphorically.
The most impressive aspect of it is that it is mechanical!
Cheers to the inventor.
Incredible. Seeing this fills me with a sense of pride, even though I had nothing to do with its development. Absolutely brilliant!
What a combination of mechanics and beauty. A masterpiece.
I'm suddenly reminded of the many things I need to get done today, I need this clock. I can only imagine the things I'd get done if I could imagine feeding every minute to the Chronophage.
This is one of the most elegant and beautiful machines I've ever seen. Bravo Dr. Taylor on creating such a wonderful clock.
The most incredible timepiece/work of art I have ever seen.
gosh, what an amazing, illustrative interpretation of that grasshopper... and such a simple, visually delightful design! inspiring!
Whoa, the great thing about this is not how he implemented the Grasshopper escapement method in a unique way, its the LED sequence idea!!
Great job!
I don't find it creepy at all . . .simply engrossing, fascinating and charming.
It's beautiful. A fine example of both craftsmanship and ingenuity. It also serves a fairly grizzly reminder that time is always moving, and we'll never get it back. To all who have helped in the process of making this, my hat's off to you.

This man is a genius! To create a clock this advanced, that is amazing!
Wow this is amazing. If a scaled down version of this ever hit the market I would definitely thinking about buying it. I'd love to have that in my house. Fantastic work.
Absolutely beautiful, I wish there were more projects which so perfectly combine science and art. Lucky Corpus.
"Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day"
Brilliant clock!
What a beautiful piece! I love the grasshopper, amazing work all over!
Amazing... a perfect way to display both... science and fear in an artistic way... makes me feel speechless.
What a wonderfully creative way to tell the time! The creature, although not attractive to my eye, is fantastic to behold. The membrane over the eye that shuts every now and then, plus the system set up so that the lights appear to move. The whole piece is incredible, applause for the creator!!
Harrison was the greatest chronograph builder of all time... Amazing accuracy on pure wood clocks made by hand!
The engineering genius that this amazing timepiece embodies pushes all my happy buttons. :3
What a brilliant presentation for a spectacular work of art. Kudos to Dr. Taylor.
This is something of pure beauty. Not something I think I would ever want in my home, but a must see for sure. The precision is impeccable.
The most amazing clock I've ever seen, and I want one. I love the concept, looks and mechanics. The monstrous grasshopper is a stroke of genius.
This form of clock will for sure take over the world!
Great job guys! that is amazing
This is(obviously)a very unusual time keeper. Its artistry and design are captivating..the time and work put into its creation are unimaginable.
I wasn't very impressed at first until I saw that the LEDs are constantly lit, and the perceived "movement" is achieved through the slits. I'm more than impressed, even ashamed at my initial reaction. Amazing, inspiring work, especially in this digital age.
I WANT ONE! That is so amazing! This has to be the coolest thing I've seen all month.
Incredible work of magnificent intellect...precise and the prospect of looking time, Time is Relative!!! Absolutely incredible.
i really like the design, and the menace of it, serves as a reminder that time will march foward no matter what, and has the air of unease reflecting an unknown future.
good to see clock design tackled in such an untraditional fashion.
This is the most awe-inspiring thing I've seen in some time.
Fascinating! What a truly remarkable timepiece! Thanks for sharing.

That's the most badass grasshopper i've ever seen.
Cool idea.
What a beautiful clock. Its beauty, lights, and sound is very relaxing. It puts me in such a daze I love it.
Absolutely brilliant in concept and execution. A precious jewel for Cambridge which I hope to see in person some day. Thank you, Prof. Taylor.
a very beautiful clock indeed. i would love to have one myself. the design, the sound, the lights, its all perfect.
Bravo, it looks amazing. At first I was unsure it was a mechanical clock. Great way to express time.
that clock is awesome. I so want one of those in my room. Adn the chronophage title fits it. Its extremely magnificient in looks and complexity. I love it!
That's brilliant, another wonder of human creativity. Wish i had a clock like that!
that is probably the best thing ive seen in a long time :) i hope it gets produced so the public can buy it i would love to have one, good job :)
Awesome beautiful and captivating. Can't wait to see it in the flesh, as it were...
That's the type of workmanship I imagine exists in fantasy and sci-fi books that I have read - stunning
That is such a beautiful work of man. Thank you Dr. Taylor!
i am so glad people like this exist
Elegant and lovely. I am very impressed by it's design. Just beautiful. I would love to observe this object in person. Thanks for the video!
Both beautiful and profound! Congratulations on a marvellous creation. The clock has an almost haunting mystical feel to it which somehow reminds us of our mortality.
Magnifico! The work of a genius, scientist and true artisan.
Utterly magnificent. A work of artful craftsmanship. May the moments pass in beauty and its mechanism never fail.
Its so complex and intresting just to watch. It does not even look of this world. The details looks as though it was built by multiple civilizations. This is truly a work of art and technology. Vary Impressive!
this is a gorgeous piece of artistic engineering. I love the whole "time-eater" monster that the escapement has been characterized into.
This is probably the most amazing time piece I've ever seen. I hope to see it in person someday.
this mechanism is insane! I love it, and the grasshopper is such a nice creative touch. i would really want one, a small one with the same principle mechanism.
Wonderful! What a grand timepiece and amazing achievement! I hope to be able to purchase a smaller one someday!
Cheers to Mr. Taylor!
A great engineering feat! Its things like this that really show what a generation is made of!
Nicely done!
What a brilliant piece of work. I would love to have a replica in my home.
Truly an amazing piece of work! The beauty is in the idea of it's simplicity.
A lot of thought went into this clock. Very creative. It's more of a work of art then a simple timepiece.
An incredible invention and will surely lead to many great developments in the future.
So innovative... and it is captivating to watch. Thank you for *your* time in helping us stretch our imaginations and look at the clock in a different light. Bravo.
I love this inside-out-ness. The way you describe the works makes me think of a mechanical odometer. I'm going to have to try my hand at making a clock following this general design.
what a beautiful intersection of engineering and art. Kudos!

A wonderful device! very artisitic, too.
Awsome. Love it. If they made smaller versions I would have one in my living room. Art meets inteligence.....
Brilliant. This is absolutely brilliant. How often in daily life to we sit down and ponder something like the passing of time? Not enough, I'll wager. Thanks to you for your dedication and hard work to create the ideal exemplar of time and its passing! Cheers~!~

so cool... how it delivers precision despite it's rough appearance...
"hey what's the time?"
"...it's AWESOME"
Incredible work, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on its progress. I hope I'll get to see the completed product in person some day.

That is ridiculously beautiful. Awesome, awesome work.
Dr Taylor invented the clock, Stephen Hawkin unveiled the clock on 19th September in Cambridge
Fantastic and beautiful!...Bravo!

Great concept elaboration. Time is always of essence!
Very therapeutic, I would love an identical but scaled down version for my study.
Wonderful piece of machinery.
Stunningly beautiful work. I hope to have the opportunity to witness this peculiar time-eater next time I visit Cambridge.
Brilliant! Simply brilliant!
What a beautiful piece of work. Absolutely fascinating.

Amazing!
I'd like to have one of my own!
beautiful. aesthetically and intellectually.
A beautiful clock. A tribute to Harrison.
I love the grasshopper (and it freaks me out!) The eye is so cool. I agree with below, a miniature in the living room would be awesome.
