Half Life isn't obvious all the time and there is some bs too. My advice whenever you get stuck would be to stop, re-evaluate the situation, and think about where the game designers intended the player to go. Looking up the answer isn't always a bad idea either, and while that can break immersion, nobody wants to be stuck in the same area for 20 minutes. After you play a lot of these types of games, you'll develop a good game sense and that gives you an understanding of what you are expected to do in a given scenario. I hope this helps in some way.
50% of my deaths were me being clueless the other 50% was incompetence to a grand spectacle. but yeah, i've tried not to look up anything for the game at all, or look up walkthroughs either. and i've been successful thus far
