    I’ve probably seen every documentary or story on addiction that exists on the internet and several times a month I find myself coming back to this video since it’s been uploaded. The way this man describes his story and struggles and articulates the disease of addiction is so spot on and compelling that it truly gives me hope that sobriety is possible. Thank you so much for sharing and I hope that this video is never taken down.

    Dishonesty is a brutal thing in the path of recovery too. A person who is dishonest to himself is considered one of the greatest sins in the world.

      Adam Odonnell so proud of you on being so honest and open and helping others! You mention a lot of “demons” and “battles” and want to tell you you’re right. Sorry you had shitty people around you that caused so much torment in your life. But it’s also a good thing because you wouldn’t be who you are without it. And it allows you to help others who are stuck, and see no way out. I want to encourage you because I see a huge purpose on your life! I want to encourage you to seek out Jesus! Although it might sound silly or cliche but it’s true. We are in a spiritual battle and we do not battle flesh and blood but in the spiritual world. Satan and his minions are real but so is God and Jesus. And Jesus is stronger and undefeated. Please watch video on other people’s testimonies on how Jesus saved them. I watched for a while and he saved me too. He wants to save you too and loves you more than you know. And he’s the only one that can truly make up for the loss’ caused by the enemy. You deserve to get it restored and more! He is waiting for you to call unto him and accept him in your life...and it will be better than you ever thought! Blessings brother!

  • @brittaolson6550

    I absolutely love his questioning of the “you’re not unique” message. Our uniqueness is very important and special. I guess the positive message is, “You’re not unique in how drugs effect you. You are not the rare addict who will be able to use successfully.” I guess that’s what I get from it, but I 100% agree it can be overdone. Very profound introspection about becoming the monster we are afraid of, and being haunted by our mistakes. I hope for success in recovery for this wise young man. I hope for success in recovery for me, as well. I’m still fairly new to it (again). Sometimes I question whether it can we ever end, But none of us should ever stop trying because we’re worth it, and we are unique and irreplaceable.
    And I just want him to know that I’ve been through horrific abuse also. It’s incredible to be able to survive AND have that empathic perspective that if you had it that bad, someone else had it worse. The world needs you, man, and you deserve to be a big part of it.
    Edit: I also have Bipolar and Dissociative Disorder (and PTSD). I think we really have had the same kind of life! (But never exactly).

    "The things that I went through as a child were very demonic very dark". As I got older I couldn't understand why the need to use drugs and my self destructive behaviour. But then as time went on I realized that I was ashamed of the things I've done in the past but honestly I learned to love myself and to let those things go because there's nothing I can do about them anymore only what's happening today and things to come. And with that I started to release myself from the chains I had put on myself. It starts by wanting to be a better person because if you're comfortable with who you are that's who you stay as but I wasnt. Then you have to really want it and make a yes or no decision. It pays off I like the way I live now I am able to hold relationships. It was dark but I am out and ready to live life. Good luck buddy you seem to know what the problem was. Sometimes the hardest thing to fight is yourself.

    It’s so hard to relive the past . I was not sexually abused , but physically and verbally abused by my mother . It’s so very hard for me to talk about and when I talk to a therapist. , I quit when things gets sensitive. The therapist said I dissociate. Maybe that’s the way I cope . She’s tried to make up for the past but how do u do that ? Plus some of her old behaviors are still there and they trigger me , to the point I want to lay hands on her

    Is it true that when a person Starts using weed that would lead them to other drugs because I seen almost all the videos and all of them always say they started with weed ? Because weed is considered a drug

    • @hellbentholland1008
      @hellbentholland1008 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      False. I have friends that have tried weed and did that but nothing else ever. Didnt even drink much. If ya take a dude like me, weed wasnt what made me end up where I am, it was alcohol. Alcohol for many years got progressively worse and led me to do other things that I never would have started doing had I not been drunk as hell with lowered inhibitions to go against or say no to doing "harder drugs" or other risky stuff.
